YW3 just sold above the million, a mark that the latest DQ and Pokemon spin-offs also failed to cross. How successful it will be depends on the positive word of mouth the game and the Anime will get in the next months. Could be a longterm seller if the Anime takes off and reaches a new audience.

Interested to see how it performs - it looks great so it deserves some good numbers in my book, but you never know with new spins on popular IPs.

Why is MHS doing badly?

Audience mismatch
Monster Hunter is not a kid friendly IP, MHS doesn't look appealing for its usual audience and the kiddy audience doesn't seem to care... so far.

Damn Berserk Musou will perform that badly?

It will be better than Arslan which mega bombed but there's absolutely no reason that it will perform well indeed, the musou formula is getting old and people seem to be tired of it with each new crossover selling less than the previous one.

Why is MHS doing badly?

The art style and game genre likely weren't appealing to the traditional Monster Hunter audience, who would be the ones preordering a game like this. Its success really relies on being able to bring children through the anime and word of mouth.

It makes me wonder if it'd have more pre-orders if they kept the human characters looking older like the hunters in the mainline games - but even then there'd still be the turn based combat issue which might just not be appealing to the audience that traditionally buys monster hunter.
