What is this things that he pretend to invent? I don't really know about this. Anyone know care to elaborated it for me?

Probably Mega Man? He's often called the father of Mega Man, though he was brought in when the first game was well underway. I don't think Inafune himself makes that claim, though.

I believe Hideki Kamiya said the same thing about him that Nirolak did, albeit in fewer words. He's a great businessman, but he isn't actually a creative guy.

Looks like it's just a matter of weeks before Vita starts outselling 3DS

#troll :)

Edit: I think Inafune has shown to be a great director, manager and business man in the games industry, but yes, that's different from innovating. The games he is most proud of, the Zero series are the most refined versions of his Mega Man games.

He pretends to have invented things he didn't.

He has outright done interviews stating he did not create MegaMan.

And the whole 'Inafune isn't a creative' is bullocks. He has done a lot of creative work within his games, from guiding game design to artwork to conceptualization. He's not as in the trenches as some developers but he's hardly a glorified producer either.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about.

On the subject of Capcom, I wonder if they'll make another portable Sengoku Basara spinoff after this. They wouldn't have to compromise the gameplay on the Vita, but they don't seem to have any interest in the system at all. They could go with the 3DS, but the series doesn't seem like a good fit.

I think Megaman is one of them.

He also wasn't actually the main creative force behind Dead Rising to my understanding.

Yes he's gotten more open about that.

Fraud is a bit strong perhaps haha.

He never said, or attempted to create the impression that he was, I'm sure the only thing stopping that perception (because it was 'his team') from being dispelled is someone not having asked that question yet. Having 'gotten a bit more open' about MegaMan means having specifically delineated when he came on board and that the character was already conceptualized when he came on board (he 'named names' in tat his mentor is known), so there's no reason to assume that he'd be relatively guarded about Dead Risings creation either.

Inafune said:
"I'm often called the father of Mega Man, but actually, his design was already created when I joined Capcom," he explained. "My mentor [at Capcom], who was the designer of the original Mega Man, had a basic concept of what Mega Man was supposed to look like. So I only did half of the job in creating him. I didn't get to completely design a Mega Man [protagonist] from scratch until Zero (Mega Man X, SNES). Back when the SNES was coming out, I was asked to give Mega Man a redesign, so I created this character. But I realized that this design wouldn't be accepted as Mega Man, so I had another designer create the new Mega Man, and I worked on Zero to release him as the 'other main character' that would steal all the good scenes!"

"It may be the 20th anniversary for the Mega Man series, but it's also the 20th anniversary for myself as a game developer. It was the first title that I was involved in when I joined Capcom, and I've really been in the industry together with the series. It was the Mega Man series that taught me how to make video games, like what kind of points had to be detailed, and what kind of points had to be watched out for. I'm often called the creator of Mega Man or the father of Mega Man, but it's really the Mega Man series that created me."

This quote dove tails nicely into rebutting the whole 'Inafune isn't a creative'. Yes, among many other thing, he designs characters and started as an artist at Capcom, guys.

At the same time, isn't he doing a kickstarter that probably wouldn't get the same level of attention if he didn't previously have his name attached to megaman?

He;s also the only reason that we were getting MegaMan titles period, for some time, at Capcom. The franchise was his baby since he basically took control of it and protected it from the rest of the executive board at Capcom. There's a reason that Legends 3 and that other game were canned almost at the same time that his departure was made public.

People like to hate on Inafune for... basically no reason. I mean sure, outsourcing, but he's also the one that really forced Capcom to modernize their production pipelines (MTFramework) and fought long and hard (and lost) for the consistent creation of new IP.

I remember back at the start of 2012 and the Vita doing 20k was considered horrible. Now it's good? What happened? Oh and is "at least it's over last year's YTD" the new "at least it's over 10k?". I'm not sure if people are joking or not anymore.

The system went through a long period of selling much less than 20k, so expectations changed. The huge failure of the Wii U and (to a much lesser extent) the decline of the 3DS have also served to change the way that 20k is viewed.

Growth is generally seen as a good thing for a platform. It's unlikely to have its legs chopped out from under whilst it is on an upwards trajectory.

Saying Vita "is in beastmode" is real funny, in a tragic sort of ways.

Well... at least it's not as bad as it used to be. Has it been stabilized on these sort of range in terms of numbers, I wonder.

And hopefully folks in Japan continue to create more content for it, since I lost hope for Western developers that are not Sony's 1st party (even them perhaps) or Indie.

Wait. DQX for Wii U being the best selling title digitally?
Bravely Default in top 10?
Zelda third even if only one week of availability was counted...and during the whole eShop Christmas disaster?!?

...Maybe I've underestimated Nintendo's audience about buying games online, after all. Wow.

Ah, this seems it hasn't been discussed yet, and I feel it's better to post here instead of doing a whole thread just for this little blurb.
From the Investor Meeting

Now that they have observed the success of “Puzzle & Dragons Z,” the number of companies who have approached Nintendo with an offer to provide Nintendo 3DS with the titles which they originally designed for and grew on smart devices has been increasing. As this example illustrates, the Nintendo 3DS platform has already reached a scale with enough business potential for not only the titles invented for game devices but also the ones originally made for other platforms.

I have really bad feeling that the PS4 will drop like a rock in Japan fast, like under 30k per week after a month or so. That would be catastrophic for the home console market there.

If it does it'll eventually recover. Look at PS4's launch lineup/launch window, it has no games(that people want to buy a system for).

Failing below 30k is nearly certain - but as long as they can sell 1.5-2 milions in first year it wll be big boost to Japanise market.

Wait. DQX for Wii U being the best selling title digitally?
It's an expansion releaded on Dec 22nd.
Bravely Default in top 10?
Not that surprising given it was out for a month.
Zelda third even if only one week of availability was counted...and during the whole eShop Christmas disaster?!?
It was tracked for 11 days, but it is impressive as is FFX/X-2.

Well if they make a good game like what P&DZ seemingly is on the 3DS, then they could have similar success stories.

Mario Kart for Golden Week and then Smash maybe for holidays? Iwata unveiled again his unexpected plan for Wii U.

I think he finally realized it's just a bad product with no possibilities of recover and will treat it like GameCube. Keep it in life support until it dies.

Unless they're turned into "full" games like PDZ, I can't see anyone (reasonable) suddenly change their stance on mobile games. And then it wouldn't be mobile games anymore.

With MK 8 coming out in May, the line up for Wii U in March and April is disastrous. There's a chance it will drop to three digits sales.

That's impressive.
Isn't it available as an expansion digitally (if you own Flying Fairy on cart you can get for the sequel download cheaper) which adds some appeal to the digital version which the physical version can't touch.
I thought that was a separate download/expansion pack and not counted as the actual game.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
It's really cool that we actually get digital sales numbers for Japan now. Really, really cool! :)

Soon, we'll even have a Top 30. :D

I hope the rest of the world will follow what Famitsu's doing. Having more concrete digital numbers from all around the globe would be amazing.

Agreed. I wish NPD had this kind of relationship with Sony / Nintendo...it's annoying that we still can't get full digital numbers for North American eShop / PSN sales.

I remember back at the start of 2012 and the Vita doing 20k was considered horrible. Now it's good? What happened? Oh and is "at least it's over last year's YTD" the new "at least it's over 10k?". I'm not sure if people are joking or not anymore.
Its relative to previous performance, as SmokeyDave said. There were a lot of talk about early discontinuing of the Vita in 2012. The recent sales performance shows that this is unlikely to happen in Japan.

People who said that Vita is in beastmode wasnt serious though, its just a joke or humorous hyperbole.

Questionable they were late ports of games from same generation.

Also RE:Rev HD shouldn't be on the list imho.
