Ah the calm before the storm.
I'm really going to enjoy average sales threads like these until things get really crazy Nov.-Dec.

Interesting to see the huge drop-off on Dark Souls, but it was expected really.
Also the 3DS is staying steady around the 50K mark, and the PS2 saw a unit loss of 25 consoles.

The most visible sign of the anticipation for 3DS Holiday lineup?

In fact, in Week 41 of 2005

And next week is the one before the Pink, so it should be normal to see a drop in units sold.

It can't be ALL in prevision of December, it's 2 months away almost!

Games sold outside the top 20 and used game sales.

I think some of the more aware shoppers are grabbing the 3DS early, as they remember what happened with both the NDS and Wii for over a year. No one wants to be waiting outside in lines for the next shipment to arrive again. Considering there is a pretty good shot at the 3DS selling out this holiday, I think they are smart with getting it early and not have to worry about availability.

I'm curious as to how much stock of 3DS there is on shelves at the moment. I'm thinking there's a very real possibility of it selling out over Christmas, and I'm curious as to what sort of numbers those would be.

(That's ignoring the fact that presumably Nintendo are also going to be ramping up shipments as they approach the holiday, of course)

It's probably mostly because they want to make sure they have one this year. Other reasons could be DSiware, Virtual Console (Japan gets more games than the rest of the world) and DS backwards compatibilty. I guess some people are buying used games too.

Dragon Quest Collection is starting to show some legs.

Also, is it just me or does OoT always chart higher in Famitsu? It was number ten there this week and I seem to remember the same thing for a couple of weeks now. Does anyone know if their total number for it is higher or is it just tiny differences that changes the charting order all the time

btw, i personally love that the 3ds seems to stabilize, I really hope it can become a success for nintendo, as I fear an iOS gaming future

Because the 3DS's first week corresponds to the DS's eighth week. The DS launched in what, November in 2004, the 3DS launched in February.

I suppose we should also take in account that 3DS should be now be much cheaper than DSi; now that the high price tag shouldn't be an issue anymore and the line-up has been growing stronger since the launch, so all newbuyers can easily pick up all the stuff they've missed so far waiting for the big pieces due out next November and December.

Nice legs for DQ Collection, I bet it can make 500k by the end of the holidays. Nintendo should release the Blue Wii in Japan as a tie in for the Anniversary.
