Watch FFX HD port be the best selling HD port of them all, i just got this feeling its going to surprise a ton of people. Not just in Nippon, but rest of the world as well.

I think these threads would get dull without crazy people. Suppadoopa's polite enough, so let's just laugh at him if and when he's wrong. Rather than antagonizing him every week.

It's been a while since I've been in a Media Create thread, I didn't know PSV sales collapsed again. That sucks.

Week before price drop/ new model release.

Vita vs WiiU will be interesting this holiday. I was thinking the WiiU would easily win but the Vita has a better lineup than I first thought it had.

FFX Vita bundle to be released in the busiest week of the year. Suppadoopa redeemed.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=694597

No really, Sony is being really aggressive this last quarter.

Oct - Vita 2000
Nov - VitaTV, God Eater
Dec - FFX and probably more things I don't remember

It's sadly too late since Nintendo is two steps ahead everytime.
If they would've these games (among some others in 2013 released games) ready for last year, it could have a had chance for at least a bit better sales and momentum.

But now with MH4 and Pokemon "noone" is going to buy something other than a 3DS the next months..

Disclaimer: I do not live in Tokyo or Osaka where people who are hardcore are more prone to live. That said.

I am not hearing any hype for the new Vita here. I saw a few ads and there are a some on store posters, but that's about it. Maybe there is some hype among Sony fans but it is totally drowned out by MH4 and Pokemon. Also I should point out that as happened with the original PSP, it is rarely a lot of new buyers getting the new colors/model it will mainly be people who already have a Vita who are "trading up" (though without OLED I am not sure if it is really up). If the sales of this new Vita are good, there will be tons of used Vitas for sale by this weekend.

Now that's not all bad, this will eventually increase the user base as some budget conscious gamers will pick up those units.

I really don't see this new model increasing the baseline in the long run. Vita TV has a better shot. I think Vita might get a bump for it's PS4 features next year if the PS4 takes off running.

It's all 3DS all the time here.

I mention that I have a WiiU and people are unimpressed. Most have not heard of Super Mario 3D World but assume (from the title not the pictures) that it's on 3DS. Unless people walk into a dedicated games shop (not a shopping center) or read Famitsu, the title may as well not even exist.

I talk about planning to get a PS4 and people are unimpressed (other than the gamers I hang out with). The hype is just not there like it was for the PS3. But Sony has a while before the Japanese release so that could change.

XB1 LOL.

But by far the most common gaming related stuff I hear (excluding pokemon and MH4) is about Puzzles and Dragons. Even the elementary school kids are addicted to this. This is probably what square is seeing too...

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Man, you're impacient. It's not 19:00 yet here. Most of the shops are open until 22:00, and then you have to wait they write something in their blogs.

I thought there could have been some mid-day reports, like azalyn usually does. Sorry for being impacient, then.

I can't wait to see the numbers for this game. This game, Smash Bros and Mario Kart will truely show how fucked the WiiU really is.

For the people who aren't regulars in Media Create threads:

What is Dengeki?
Dengeki is a website (it's also a brand of magazines / a book and manga imprint) that publishes sell-through Japanese sales data from ASCII Media Works, Inc. Every week they publish a nationwide snapshot of Japanese video game sales with the cooperation of more than 3,000 specialty game stores and convenience store chains all across Japan.

Why post Dengeki numbers when you have Media Create / Famitsu in the OP?
Among other reasons, Dengeki gives us sales numbers for titles that are too low to debut with numbers on Media Create / Famitsu. So, their liberal reporting allows us to track sales that we wouldn't be able to otherwise.

Is Dengeki less accurate than Media Create / Famitsu?
No. All three trackers are inherently trustworthy. However, they have quirks that make some people prefer one over the others:

Media Create:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Media Create Co., Ltd.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 20 software sales with numbers
+ Top 50 software sales without numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sometimes presents sell-through figures
+ Releases first (at the same time as Famitsu)
+ Nintendo uses these numbers in their investor presentations
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not track download cards
- Does not provide software sales figures past the Top 20

Famitsu:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Enterbrain, Inc.
+ Tracks about 3,600 retail stores / chains
+ Top 30 software sales with numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through ranges for all titles
+ Has the most historical data available for GAFfers
+ Tracks download cards
+ Releases first (at the same time as Media Create)
- Does not distinguish between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not report total software sales

Dengeki:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from ASCII Media Works, Inc.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 50 software sales with numbers
+ Top 3 software sales per platform
+ Total software sales per platform
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through figures for a few titles
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Inconsistent data reporting over the years
- Does not track download cards
- Releases nearly 24 hours after Media Create / Famitsu

I thought there could have been some mid-day reports, like azalyn usually does. Sorry for being impacient, then.

There's the mid-day report. But I think it's better to wait for the full report, and some others as well, to exchange information.
No worries.

Yay, Vink village.
Wonder how well P&D will do on 3DS ...

Could we start adding Dengeki to first post ?
I second this. If Chris is happy to edit it in, or maybe reserve the second post in the thread for it, it would be great to have that data easily findable as well.

EDIT: Just noticed NSMBU has popped back into Dengeki.
Code:
50/64	Wii U	New Super Mario Bros. U Nintendo 12/12/08	1,050	567,170
Remember when this was going to easily outsell FFXIII?

Anyway, as it's only moving about 1K units a week, will it realistically move the needle as part of a bundle value add?

Yeah, I was musing on this a couple of weeks back. It'll be really interesting to see if the lack of in-game purchases/monetisation on the 3DS version makes it a success with the 3DS crowd, or whether the fact that people can already play it on phones etc means that the market just isn't there. Maybe the 3DS version will sell to the youngsters that aren't old enough to have smartphones but want it with them all the time? I have no idea but it should be interesting.

I wonder what Angry Birds on the 3DS sold in the end? I think paid-for console versions of that didn't do too badly in the end.

it wont be selling anything to new wii u owners at the moment though considering they can wait a few weeks and get it free

angry birds was over 600k i believe (and that was quite some time ago) in the usa alone

Anyway, as it's only moving about 1K units a week, will it realistically move the needle as part of a bundle value add?

Lol yeah. At that rate it would take 27 years to outsell FF13.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Thanks for the impressions! Very interesting. :)

Do we see a lot buying MH4 and Pokemon together?

Also it's cool seeing impressions from a Japanese person's perspective in Japan, thanks! Give us regular updates! :D

A screenshot of Sword Art Online went up with the UI on the screen.

This looks more like an action RPG than Monster Hunter to me, though I could be wrong.
