.even Puzzle & Dragons X, after all (yes, it's a major drop compared to the SMB Edition, let alone its actual prequel, but it's performing far better than I expected after seeing the debut).

Puzzle & Dragons X outselling SMB Edition in the end won't be a surprise and this time there aren't extended price drops.

Poor Capcom. Can't even get listed in the fighting genre anymore.
SF5's release was so infuriating that I want to wipe its existence from my memory.

Then again, they're about as successful as Aquaplus is when it comes to launching new IP so they're easily forgettable nowadays. D:

Is that a joke tweet?

What's up with that Mario 3D Land and OG 3DS poster?

Follow that account back a few days, you'll see. The answer is that, likely, the product shares a common abbreviation with a certain fighting/volleyball game starring buxom ladies.

Wondering where P5 will land.

470k perhaps?
Or will it cross 500k?

Unless it suddenly tanks for no reason, 500k retail by the end of the year should be doable. That would probably put it aroudn 550+k including digital in Japan alone. What will be interesting is how much more they can ship in Asia before the English release. It already crossed 550k total shipments+digital a while back, so 700k should be well within reach. Can it ship up to 800k though? That would be a fantastic number for a Japanese release of a JRPG.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Monster Hunter did better than I would have thought given the previous thread.

Pokemon will do fine.

They won't be able to ship many copies in Asia this year. Both Chinese and Korean versions come out next year, and I doubt many people would buy a HK Japanese copy knowing a translated version is down the line.

Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment must've outsold Persona 4 Golden in Japan at this point, it's just insane.

It would have to have done some majorly heavy lifting at digital compared to Persona 4 Golden tanking at digital to even get close, lol.

Persona 4 Golden (all SKU's) - 371,233
Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment (Vita) - 286,329

Sword Art Online: Game Director's Edition (PS4) - 29,816

(That's not to say it hasn't done extraordinarily well but yeah, strange comparison)

Yup, no. Comgnet obsession will hunt us forever and apparently there is no cure.

Hope Poke Sun and Moon Success will be able to forever kill this Comgnet obsession lol......

Hell, the fact that MHS did quite well here should already shows how Comgnet is not golden standard lol.O_O

I like Comgnet but it should be taken as a very rough indicator for comparisons between comparable games. If a game has 200 preorders vs 800 for its predecessor, you know to expect a significant drop. It helped us see how big of a drop Yokai Watch 3 was going to experience, for example. The data shouldn't be misinterpreted as meaning more than that, but it's good to have it.

In an ideal world, Media Create would share (some of) their pre-order data on a regular basis, but yeah... never gonna happen.

***

MHS - Dengeki: 151k, 65% sell-through ratio.

http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/387/1387636/

Also, still no anime in Top 10. But Pokémon above Yo-kai Watch (3.6 vs 3.5), but nothing that unusual.

http://www.videor.co.jp/data/ratedata/top10.htm#anime

Talking of the Pokémon anime, really curious about Pokémon Sun and Moon (debuts on November 17th by the way, just one day before the game). Seems like a radical departure from previous series, so curious to see how it'll fare.

Do we know if PSVR is going to be tracked on these threads? It's an accessory but also sort of a platform so I don't really know. Just curious, but I guess it won't be

Technically, it's not a new platform, since PSVR requires a PlayStation 4 to operate. It's basically an accessory, so that means Media Create should track it, but will not share weekly data. You'll have to wait for PR from Sony or the Media Create White Book for proper data.

We're definitely getting some data from Media Create next week, since they generally provide them for major launch weeks.

We had some numbers from Media Create for Black / White.

Yes, Pokémon X / Y and Yo-kai Watch 2 did too, if I'm not mistaken. But it's not really regular, and not all major titles even get them (for example, I don't remember the last time Media Create shared some).

Based on COMG pre orders Pokemon Sun and Moon will be the lowest selling generation. Yup, worse than X/Y

COMG is getting less relevant than it used to be, it closed 2 stores recently. That's the reason games with less pre orders than the predecessors many times sells more.

A perfect example is Persona 5, which did less than Persona 4 on COMG, but has outsold it by a huge margin overall.

When the points difference is small, you can be almost sure it will sell more than the predecessor, by a small or huge margin.

In case of Pokémon is all normal, 1,138 points (counting the double pack as 2 points) VS 1,149 points. With a small difference like this, Pokémon MS is gonna beat by a notable margin Pokémon XY easy.

The problem is only when the pre orders on COMG are WAY lower than the predecessor, this is the case of Final Fantasy XV, and here people should stop talking about "COMG is not legit" and just understand how worrying is the situation for that game. ;)
Is the same thing is happen with Yokai Watch.

Also of course you always need to rememb about digital sales, which as for now could not be really relevant but in a near future they will. Maybe not with Pokémon but i talk in general.

....Back to talk about Pokémon, Japan will surely be the place with the smaller boost compared to XY. The real increase will happen in the west where is likely it will double XY at launch, and in my opinion is going to sell 20 million worldwide lifetime.

I'm not advocating COMG as the be-all-end-all, but I don't think that's a good example. Comparing a 2008 game vs. a 2016 game is a whole different story than comparing a 2013 game vs. a 2016 game. The landscape has changed more in 8 years than it has in 3.

Fair point. Anyway 8 years or 3 years what i mean is that the ratio is getting better and better all years, so as for Persona same should happen with Pokémon.

it's not exactly starting from zero

Well there it is, I didn't say DGS was similar we're arguing on semantics there.

Saying a game is starting from zero using the "Monster Hunter" name is just ludicrous.

Hero Bank started from zero, Gaist Crusher started from zero, Youkai Watch starter from zero, Monster Hunter is starting an existing IP on an entirely new genre that's all.

It is not exactly starting from zero. It sure is not really benefiting in this case lol.^_^(In some case, using a IP can end up putting them on minus starting point lol.^_^)

We should at least be getting numbers for the bundle since it comes with PSVR Worlds which will likely be tracked.

Monster Hunter Stories' first week sell-through is 51.83%. Also, this game has an unsatisfactory start for retailers and according to them, the ones interested in it are mainly adults.

Monster Hunter is CERO C rated that buyers are supposed to be 15 years or older (technically stores wont't get punished for not checking customers' picture ID but it is recommended to not to sell such games to kids). It is very natural kids aren't attracted to MHS as Capcom had hoped..

Also, around 300K shipment was right after all.

Guess, they failed to get that kids money they had been wanting for. They end up getting the same MH fans to get the game lol.

Lets see if Western Market can do better here.^_^

Wait wait wait here. A kids product with CERO C? I mean, isn't that kinda does not make sense. Why are u making a game for children but put the rating on 15years+? This does not make any sense?O_O

No I'm talking about mainline MH seires. There are quite a few kids with parents won't give shit what their children play so I'm guessing number of kids who played mainline series isn't small. The question is was that number big enough to justify MHS making CERO A game.
