To add to this, he says there isn't going to be a Boost this time, and that on the 15th "shocking" information will be announced that will be very beneficial to current owners of the game.

A patch because apparently the game's got some bad bugs, lol.

Was Xillia a bad game or something?

It's a rare case of a bestselling game in a popular series that instantly fell to doom in the second sales week. Garaph has 512,544 for first week and 55,323 for the second. Xillia 2 will start much slower due to this, but may make up a little of it due to somewhat better legs caused by some good word of mouth.

Xillia was extremely rushed. It only had like two non dlc costumes(and I think they were recolors) and had none of the traditional postgame features people expect from a Tales game. The game went on boh bargin and used game bins pretty fast due to this.

I honestly did not expect Xillia 2 to do well and I'll pick it up for $50-60 in January like I did with the first game if it does indeed bomb.

This pointless arguing (okay, Gunho has one 3DS game in development) almost made me want for the Monster Hunter Vita discussion to come back. Almost.

I think it's been one or two days since we had one of those.

Don't you know that Gunho is developing a MH for Vita?

LOL

I feel Microsoft is unlikely to try again in Japan, so there wouldn't be much of a niche audience setting up on the system.

Do you think that MS could avoid the Japanese distribution at all, or what?
I wouldn't be so shocked in discovering that Durango isn't launching at all in Japan.

As for the Xillia stuff, I thought people said it was a good game. Now from what people in this thread say, it sounds like it doesn't feel complete when compared to games like Hearts or even the original Graces for Wii.

No way does MS forego a Durango Japan launch. For better or worse, they still have to pay lipservice to the region.

Now, they might not do a simultaneous launch, and I'm not expecting to see the sort of heavy investment they threw around when launching Xbox and 360, but they're still going to show up.

I was thinking about this a bit before: With the Wii U and next-gen consoles (especially Xbox) what's going to happen to the shmups? You know, all this shooters that are now on X360 because the console was capable enough and MS was open to those games.

Will they continue on the next Xbox or they will find a better place to be?

It strikes me that the Wii U Gamepad might be well-suited to tate mode. Much less hassle than rotating your actual TV for one game!

If download cards for Animal Crossing were available at a large amount of retailers at least Famitsu will track them for last week. It could be a good test to see if MC tracks them too.

Xillia? Heh. Good one.

It isn't no Tales of Rebirth/Destiny DC that's for sure.

It'd be nice but shmup devs haven't really rallied around a Nintendo console since the Famicom. Instead they went MD/PCE, then SS/PS, then DC/PS2 and now 360.

I figured Vita would've been the new shooter machine for the same reason, but then Cave backed out entirely.

Gungho itself is publishing the game in Europe. You don't think announcing a sequel would hurt the ability of the first to sell? It's a PSN-only release in that region so there's no preorders.

Since when announcing a sequel would affect the sale of first title? If anything, I would say it would actually help the sales.

Maybe if the game is in a budget reprint, but when the publisher is attempting to charge $40? You don't think people would wait it out in hopes of the sequel coming over? I know I would.

This doesn't make any sense to me. A sequel is announced for Japan but there is no plan for it to come over. I'll just not buy the first game and hope the sequel will come later?

Not gonna happen with Japan only. so WW release confirmed?

I wouldn't be surprised if retailers ordered that many copies of ToX2, though.

Sometimes they strike me as a bit clueless...

When it's a franchise where every single entry has been localized, as is the case with Ragnarok games on PSP, DS, and Vita? Yes, I would wait to see if the sequel was picked up for localization.

Assuming there's enough stock new leaf should easily manage the series best debut, perhaps even the biggest 3ds debut so far (again assuming there are enough copies)

No, I'm serious. I really do remember hearing Xillia was good, although I think those might have only been first impressions. And yes, I know it's not Destiny DC. I consider that game Tales perfection.

Interesting, thanks for the data. So 300K should be a good estimate.

It's almost like the play for 15 minutes at a time and then do something else and handheld gaming go hand in hand...

Play game where you do virtual chores.
Stop playing game to do real life chores.

Fun anecdote: Both times I played Animal Crossing seriously I was also playing a Harvest Moon game at the same time and I was home from college so some of my days were like this.

Play Harvest Moon until the wee hours.

Get up, check on Animal Crossing.

Do chores, run errands, pick weeds, water crops.

Eat lunch. Check on Animal Crossing.

Run errands, pick weeds.

Make Dinner. Play Harvest moon until the wee hours...

If video games have taught me anything it's that mowing the lawn or shovelling snow is a lot more fun as a virtual game than as a chore.

I felt that way about AC for a long time, and I used to pooh-pooh it vociferously. Then one day my friend (who's REALLY into it) actually introduced me to the games by having me play with him for a bit.

Now I'm on the hype train.
