OH WOW! I knew it wouldn't do well, but that is a true bona fide bomba!

Hino must be fuming!

MW3 really pushed some PS3 hardware there!

Mario held on pretty well though. What was Galaxy 1 and 2's 3rd week like?

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
19./00. [3DS] Wii Party <ETC> (Nintendo) {2010.07.08} (¥4.800) - 8.559 / 2.022.866

And they said Nintendo didn't release casual games at all on 3DS.

MW3 is truly a global monster. Surprised Halo did so poorly.. I think they usually do like 50-60k. Even as a remake, I would have expected at least half that.

And there have been a bump due to new colors, after all.
These are the releases which bumped PS3 and PSP hardware

[PSP] PSP-3000 Red/Black Value Pack <H-W> (Sony Computer Entertainment) (¥17.800)

[PS3] PlayStation 3 320GB Scarlet Red <H-W> (Sony Computer Entertainment) (¥29.980)
[PS3] PlayStation 3 320GB Splash Blue <H-W> (Sony Computer Entertainment) (¥29.980)

Was there some kind of promotion for Wii party? (or a bundle?). Anyway glad to see it passed 2 millions, truly an astonishing performance considering how low it started.

That's even lower than I expected for Ni No Kuni =/ Oh well, Hino will have to give up on his dream of making this a million selling franchise...

Mario 3D Land is tracking a bit behind Galaxy 2 but the holidays should help it greatly.

The marketing must have been terrible or non-existent for NNK. Even White Knight Chronicles sold like...213K in it's first 3 days or first week didn't it?

But yeah looks like the bundle + colours helped the PS3. Also lol at MW3 being at the top everywhere.

It's unbelievable that Ninokuni did less in its first week than

[360] Blue Dragon (Microsoft Game Studios) - 82.286 / 203.740 / 40,39% 07/12/06
[360] The Last Remnant (Square Enix) - 102.107 / 154.493 / 66,09% 20/11/08
[WII] The Last Story (Nintendo) - 109.704 / 137.964 / 79,52% 27/01/11

NNK ads were on TV several times a night during prime time.

Extremely disappointing for Nii no Kuni, but Im not too surprised. I've seen almost no advertising here in Japan at all for the game in the main media except for a random cm here and there and in the game mags. And the only people that I know that know of the game are other foreigners. Its a real shame, the game has been quite fun for me.

I guess Level 5 spent their marketing budget on Ghibli cutscenes.

The PS3 version doesn't have any Ghibli cutscenes. Only the DS version had those.

What on earth could've caused a catastrophic failure like this I wonder? The DS game was received fairly well no? They have the Ghibli name behind it, it's a traditional turn based RPG (too traditional?), the PS3 userbase seems to be pretty active (Xillia did astonishingly well!)

Maybe they think it's a remake of the DS game that they already own?

The Galaxy family v.s. 3D Land race of tanooki tails and long legs!

06./03. [WII] Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo) - 39,500 / 365,000
02. / 01. [WII] Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo) - 73.480 / 518.530 (-30%)
04./04. [3DS] Super Mario 3D Land <ACT> (Nintendo) {2011.11.03} (¥4.800) - 62.318 / 499.250 (-33%)

I think it's pretty much only question of time for it to outsell both Galaxy games...

[WII] The Last Story (Nintendo) - 109.704 / 137.964 / 79,52% 27/01/11

So Resoanance of Fate had the best first week of all these games.

[PS3] Resonance of Fate - 125,868
[360] Resonance of Fate - 29,145

Which is fine with me, because RoF is actually a fantastic game.

Ni no Kuni on PS3 less than half on what it did on DS... Well, now we can say that the latter performed quite well, uh? (at least 200k at full price).

Yeah, I think it should do it fairly easily. It's got the xmas boost coming and it'll have the hardware bundle coming soon too.

The real question is how far beyond it'll go. Could it eventually hit 2 million? I think it's within the realm of possibility (at least 1.5 million when all is said and done)

It came as a bonus to those that bought the game early. Im wondering however if that will end up being everyone buying the game since it sold so low.

First "print run" (which I assume means first shipment) included the book, yeah.
Ah, thanks. Interesting that they pushed the book more with the DS version than the home console version. Probably should have been the other way around.

Mario on handheld has always sold a lot over time so I do think 2 millions are a safe bet. We'll see in Nintendo is going to release a NSMB3D. In that case, 3D Land sales will be certainly lower.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Oh wow, so I guess this is one of the worst selling "big budget" RPGs on the PS3 right? Wonder why it didn't get so high. Bad marketing probably?

Ah, thanks. Interesting that they pushed the book more with the DS version than the home console version. Probably should have been the other way around.

Well the book was necessary to play the DS game, it is not necessary to play the PS3 copy as there is a slightly different version of the book present in digital form in the PS3 game itself. So of course they wanted to push it more for the DS version, but I think that led to some complaints from some gamers when they ended up playing it. I liked the book a lot but it did make the DS version a little cumbersome to play. The PS3 fixes this, and is easier to play, but its missing that coolness of having the book necessary as well. Either way I think there are going to be many reasons why this game didn't take off with the Japanese public.

First week for X360 games by Famitsu,
H3: 61K
ODST: 33K
Reach: 39K

Still a pretty big step down.
