The Wii U bundled needed an extra game.

I never play Wii U Party, but having it in the bundle increased the value.

Hell, you got W101 not selling, just through it in there! Or Wario!

One game people want, and one for padding!

Also, Captain Toad did as I would've guessed.

Looks like this time around, the approching release of a new game is impacting sales. Then again, makes sense for 3rd version.

About Toad, did as "well" as I expected. Fortunately, it should do pretty well during the holidays. 3D World also had a lukewarm FW, then went on to have a great Christmas.

Either MC added the n3DS numbers with n3DS XL and re-included the n3DS units or Famitsu not including the n3DS numbers. The MC XL numbers and Famitsu total n3DS are pretty matched at 39k.

That Winning Eleven split between PS3:pS4 is troubling.

I guess that would be more reflective of how a Japanese-centric PS3/PS4 SKU title would do in that market right now, as opposed to the western titles where PS4 can manage a respectable ratio against the PS3 SKU.

Probably not many at all. Why would they buy the Japanese version when they can just grab the US versions which they would understand better instead?

I have a feeling that, so far, PS4 mainly sold to people with a special liking for "US-style" games, such as CoD, GTA and so on and that there still is a huge untapped potential of the japanese mass market.

PSV headed below last year in a week or two.

PS4 seems to be on the rise for reasons I don't understand.

XBone clearly at the start of a meteoric ascent to stardom.

Wii U still as irrelevant as ever.

Eh. More interesting than last week, at least.

Urgh, Bloodborne's delay is kinda annoying in this regard. Ideally, it should've been the vanguard title releasing ahead of all the big Japanese titles coming in Feb/March for PS4.

By leading the charge, it can build up the PS4 base first, and have a trickle-down benefit to all the other cross-platform titles releasing afterwards.

Oh well. At least there's Metal Slime.

I'm just pretty surprised that a first person shooter would do reasonably well. Then again I was pretty damned surprised with GTA V's performance.

Why would you be surprised? CoD is a pretty big series in Japan as far as western games go. It's been doing well for years on PS3.

PS4 had two big new releases and a new bundle. Wii U had one new release and a new bundle. Both sold almost the same. I don't understand these two comments in that regard.

Weird. I genuinely expected Winning 11 to beat Call of Duty by quite a margin. I also figured the PS4 version would do better and have given the system itself a considerably boost. It's a demographic that wasn't really catered to yet to make the next gen jump, but it may be Call of Duty that is doing more for the PS4. While CoD is not doing mindblowing numbers, I really underestimated its standing in Japan.

Obligatory mention of XBox One entering beast mode.
