Theyre not on air yet, but nintendo just did a couple of ads highlighting both 3ds and wiiu schedule for christmas. For the 3ds theres animal crossing, tomokore, pazudora and pokemon, for wiiu theres party, pikmin, mario, sochi olympicsvand taiko. Also, theres another ad on the same style of the "we would like to play" but with two guys bringing an wiiu to a family and playing some games.

They are trying hard to push the wiiu as the console to get for christmas, but they need to show taiko a little more. In fact, make the whole ad about taiko

Does anyone not think that Gaist Crusher will underperform? If someone were to tell me that Capcom was making a game where you collect armours that all have different movesets and transformations, I would not expect it to look this boring or cheap.

Can't imagine the anime will do well, either. Unless there's some sort of shonen drought and there's nothing distinctive to watch.

^ I think the Disneyland reference is about Epic Mickey 2, which bombed recently.

I've included the Famitsu download sales available in the database here: https://sites.google.com/site/japanltdrank/ (you can search for games with "{DL}" in the title).

From what I've gathered, it seems in this week's Famitsu there's a Sep. and Oct. physical top 30 for each month with download sales for each title (if exists), but not everything has been posted online yet.

I bought the magazine and you're right. Also they combine the digital and the package version to do the total. So for Nintendo games it seems it doesn't include the download cards, they're included already on the package version.

Give me some time and i post everything.
They confirm from january famitsu will include this numbers in their rankings.

Since these digital reports are monthly, I bet that Famitsu / Enterbrain has some kind of deal with Sony / Microsoft / Nintendo to receive monthly download sales reports from PSN / XBL / eShop.

If this is the case, we should be able to apply the download sales uniformly across all the three different trackers. That is, the download sales totals would be "official."

If another tracker reports download sales for the same reporting periods, they should theoretically be identical to Famitsu's figures. If they aren't, we know that one of these figures are estimates not sourced directly from real data.

Using this data, it seems Monster Hunter 4 is still above Pokemon X/Y.
Total sales (no digital for november):

[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 # <ACT> (Capcom) {2013.09.14} (¥5.990) - 3.375.739
[3DS] Pokemon X / Y # <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2013.10.12} (¥4.800) - 3.329.718

Speaking of downloads:

Square Enix has announced that the iOS / Android game "Dragon Quest" (a smartphone remake of the original NES game) has achieved 1 million downloads in the first two days of sales (November 28th - November 29th).

Dragon Quest (along with Dragon Quest 2 and Dragon Quest 3 in the future) is available through the game launcher "Dragon Quest Portal Application," an iOS / Android app that acts as a terminal to launch the Dragon Quest smartphone remakes and provides you with the latest Dragon Quest information.

Android downloads of the Dragon Quest Portal Application (as of November 30th): 100,000-500,000 downloads

At the moment, the App is only available in the Japanese marketplaces.

Dragon Quest Price: 500 yen (tax included), free for first million downloads, now free until December 10th

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
When does For The Sequel launch, already ? Can't wait to see if it cracks past the 300k bar Week 1.

Next week...and I hope your forecast just contains an extra 0 for a typing error XD

Huh that's not happening. Enhanced re-release also available as DLC (afaik), it won't do much. (See Fantasy Life Link for a recent example).

They confirm from january famitsu will include this numbers in their rankings.

So, let me understand this better. Famitsu won't just post a monthly download top 30, but will include weekly digital sales in their weekly top 30s? Is this what you're saying?

...maybe the hype built up for this release ? After all, BD got some positive reviews.

Right. I had the FF International versions of the PS2/PS1 era in mind. You're both right, won't happen. But it would have been hilarious to see it rocket past LR.

You know, maybe I'm a bit naive, but 1 million for Dragon Quest in two days, for free, on both iOS and Android, seems...not as much as I thought. Not that's it isn't big, but, knowing how much DQ usually sells (even remakes), and considering they gave the first million away... Probably, sales will be much quicker for other DQ titles (especially 8), though.

Good, now can we put to be this stupid notion that download sales are incredible and we are ignoring huge pieces of sales data? Is NPD also tracking digital yet?

How's Japan's infrastructure for broadband? It could very well be an issue related to the fact that there's not a big enough pipe to allow larger download speeds.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Owners of the Vanilla version can get the For the Sequel content as DLC right?

Dragon Quest 1 isn't the most popular entry which is why I imagine they're using it as bait to get people to install the Dragon Quest Portal.

I mean they extended the free deal from 1 million copies to until December 10th to get even more downloads unless I read that incorrectly.

I'm guessing Famitsu are only tracking retail games available in the eShop then?

Rain is a PSN only game and it charted. I assume eShop only games are also tracked, but none sold enough to make the cut.

Famitsu Sales (Physical and Digital): September, 2013 (Aug 26 - Sep 29)

07. [PSP] Uta no Prince-Sama: Music 2 # <ACT> (Broccoli) {2013.09.05} – 72.722 (0) / 72.722

21. [PS3] AKB1/149: Love Election # <ADV> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.09.12} – 23.639 (1.542) / 25.181

Thanks!

I can't find the PS3 version of AKB1/149 on the PSN store, though... Where were these 1542 copies sold? haha

And not a single copy of Uta no Prince-Sama: Music 2? The download version was released in September too.

Weird.

Officially it was a "thanks for the all the enthusiasm and success" announcement...but yes, the real purpose of the December 10th extension is to get even more people into the Dragon Quest Portal Application ecosystem.

Fantasy Life: 294.091 + 69.147 = 363.238
Youkai Watch: 215.540

I want both in English.

Android downloads of the Dragon Quest Portal Application (as of November 30th, 1:30 AM): 100,000-500,000 downloads

Android downloads of the Dragon Quest Portal Application (as of November 30th, 2:20 PM): 500,000-1,000,000 downloads

We can surmise that Android downloads have just passed the 500,000 mark.

I agree with this.

Officially it was a "thanks for the all the enthusiasm and success" announcement...but yes, the real purpose of the December 10th extension is to get even more people into the Dragon Quest Portal Application ecosystem.

They're not selling the DQ games individually? Is the purpose to cut out Apple/Android revenue share?

Fantasy Life: 294.091 + 69.147 = 363.238
Youkai Watch: 215.540

Slay a biT.

I want both in English.

With that trademark registration, I feel that L5 is prepping Fantasy Life for a digital release in the West and chose to avoid Animal Crossing and Pokémon.

Dragon Quest 1 + 2 + 3 has been announced for the Portal Application so far...not sure if Square Enix will be doing it for the other Dragon Quest smartphone remakes, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Besides cutting out Apple / Android revenue, it acts as a news platform, so people can be more informed about new Dragon Quest releases. It's quite an intelligent idea, really.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F2 will be out on March 6th, 2014 for 7350 Yen on both Vita and PS3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaZfA1aYBSQ

In case anyone still thought they were doing a split release, this pretty much ends that.

Girls Un Panzer is out on June 26th for 6,640 yen: http://gematsu.com/2013/11/girls-und-panzer-master-the-tank-road-debut-trailer

To Love-Ru Darkness: Battle Ecstasy was also announced for Vita as a creeper game by the people who made Exstetra and is due for release on May 22 for 6,980 Yen.

It seems a lot of the Vita line-up for Spring is now getting dated.

Yup but Vita still has nothing in for Febraury or January. Those are gonna be some tough months.
