Are most of these SKUs packaged with a 3DS? Cause those prices seem pretty high.

Well Nintendo kind of made SSFIV3D the premier launch title.

Come to think of it, I wonder if that royal treatment had anything to do with the Monster Hunter betrayal.

And for a second there I thought we would be over this word by now.

And for a second there I thought we would be over this word by now.

MH3 was a console entry and meant nothing. What did it do, a million or so?

The series which became a phenomenon on a Sony handheld moved the mainline title to Nintendo's handheld, and paved the way for a user transition with an MH3G release timed to buttfuck the Japanese Vita launch. Not sure what other terminology you want. In terms of market impact, it's potentially the biggest betrayal since Final Fantasy 7.

"Transition" would be a good word.

Mere mentions of "Betrayal" or "Betrayalton", on the other hand, as various previous Monster Hunter-related threads have already proven, seem to make discussions transform into festivals of stupidity.

It's not a "betrayal" for the simple fact that companies don't follow the rules of "brand warrior"-ism that many do. There are no hidden allegiances.

Like the FF betrayal when it was exclusive on the snes and SE put FF exclusively on the PS platform?

Ragnarok Odyssey: 83.2% sell-through. Highest for any Vita game yet. Sold-out in some stores on the first day.

do you think the three people who couldn't find a copy in store downloaded it from psn it must account for 10k sales we don't know of

Congrats to Gungho I guess. This is the most successful Rangarok title yet despite launching a platform with no userbase.

What about the PC game.

I meant the handheld spinoffs of the DS, and PSP games. Ragnarok Oddssey will be the most successful of the bunch.

Well scratch that, since I don't know expectations or budgets I should say "Ragnarok Oddssey will be the one that sells the most".

Week 4: 01-23~01-29

Well there's no way the Vita game somehow collapses and isn't able to catch DS's LTD.
I wouldn't be so sure.

In that case, worth noting it's a case where Famitsu and MC disagreed a lot. First week of 33.2K, stopped about 50K. EDIT: According to Famitsu.

I wouldn't call 11k "a lot" - there have been far bigger differences between the trackers. :) It seems bigger by percentage, but percentages get distorted pretty easily when dealing with such small numbers.

In any case, for all we know, Famitsu will be lower than MC again with the Vita game. Dengeki has already come in 5k lower for Ragnarok Vita.

For what it's worth it is probably easier to just compare MC numbers with MC numbers since we have them. And Ragnarok DS was at 65,783 at the end of 2009 on Media Create. There may be an even more recent number out there that I missed.

So the Media Create LTD was 61k?

I was referring to first week for the 11k discrepancy.

The last numbers I have for Ragnarok DS are 65,783 for MC and 49,470 for Famitsu. (both through 2009)

By the way, it is actually pretty common for Famitsu and Media Create to have some significant differences - particularly when it comes to the small publishers and their small games. These titles from the small publishers no doubt don't even get shipped at all to a number of retailers, so a few stores here and there that are or aren't covered in the tracker's real data can skew the final numbers quite a bit when the sales extrapolation is carried out across the full country.

Sony made a mistake by revitalizing PSP in the eve of PSV's launch. PSP was strong and getting massive support from Japan's thirds, now the first thing PSV needs to compete against 3DS is to outpost his own antecessor. Sony is now competing against itself. Games like Final Fantasy Type-0 should have been for PSV instead.

Tell to S-E to shift from PSP to PSVita (0 installed base) a project that has been under development for 3 years or so. S-E supported nicely PSVita launch with Lord of Apocalypse (that sold better than on PSP) and Army Corps of Hell. It's very rare that a brand new console gets AAA project during its first months from third parties.

FF Type-0 for PSV launch would give a major boost for the system, better than anything relasead for it so far. Not only 3DS but PSP took attention away from PSV. Like I said, PSP's revitalization took the spotlight away from PSV launch, no wonder why PSP sold better than it.

But then the game wouldn't have had the possibility to sell properly; I mean, we all see how Layton 5 did on 3DS compared to the previous entry.

Media Create Sales: Week 5, 2012 (Jan 30 - Feb 05)

19./15. [PS3] Final Fantasy XIII-2 # <RPG> (Square Enix) {2011.12.15} (¥7.980) - 5.336 / 774.415 (-17%)

19. (14) [PS3] Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Square Enix) - 5,084 / 749,270 (-18%)

Dengeki with the low number! And Famitsu is one week behind (seems the moneyhat for the 40/40 was more than we thought!)

Btw Road, is this week when we predict for Love Plus, Tekken, FF... or is it next week? (I don't know when the predictions are done).

Really? Like what?

Like hugely lacking single-player content, when compared to every other entry, some fan-favourite characters that have been in EVERY OTHER ENTRY like Taki being demoted to DLC and replaced with nerfed clones, etc.

It's all quite well documented, I'm surprised you didn't know.

I wonder whether this new Suikoden will sell more than Tierkreis, which did sell fairly well for being on a Nintendo hardware (even though it was DS); Konami's RPG has always been on Sony hardwares, at least for what concerns canon entries.

Suikoden Tierkreis (12/15/2008): 62,835 / 155,777 + 5,026 from Best Selection.

I feel like Konami's sending this new one to die. There hasn't been a decent marketing push for it.

Was there for Tierkreis? I don't think so.
Btw, PSP fanbase is strong enough to support such games, we have seen with Shining Hearts, Over My Dead Body, imageepoch games, etc.

Thanks for your posts king zell, I like to see the new weekly releases. (I love the blue Vita cases)

Regarding Suikoden Tierkreis it surprised me that it almost sold the same as Suikoden V (194,780 units). I guess that Konami had a huge disappointment with such poor sales, hence they never bothered to release a new main title.

It would be nice to know what went wrong besides Suikoden IV being perceived as a bad entry.

Videogame industry =/= Chivalry

They did not make an oath to Sony, they did not swear by the name of the god, shocking I know.
