The Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary sale must've been pretty crappy as the best selling game sold worse than the new Neptunia one on PSN, can't imagine how it must've been on the eshop.

The sole reason Ni No Kuni 2 is being done is due to the success of the PS3 game in the west, they might as well not release it in Japan.

Or release it as a DS game with the book!

Is a Ghibli-style old school JRPG really something that would be more popular in the West?

You're missing the context here. Ninokuni 2 only exists because Bandai Namco paid for it to be made, much like their deal with From for Dark Souls. They did so for the international publishing rights, while Level5 retains the publishing rights for Japan.

Here is how seriously Level5 takes the game in Japan: http://www.ninokuni.jp/rk/

Notice how the logo remains in English, and all the screenshots on the site are English screens. They don't give a fuck.

Well several charted on 3DS (the 3D Classic did well as did FFIII) and the game's own the Wii U charts (obviously no Wii numbers) but there is NOTHING on either eShop selling more than a few hundred a week at the moment.

And Fire Emblem Heroes is down to #8 on the JP App Store. Wonder if Nintendo will be more brutal with the monetisation for Animal Crossing? Inkling Furniture can be quite the rarity.

Wait, so is it doomed in Japan because Level 5 doesn't give a fuck, or do they not give a fuck because it's doomed in Japan?

Banner characters will change tomorrow, so I'd imagine that quite a few people are saving their money until then.

Week 7, 2017 (Feb 13 - Feb 19)

YSO predictions

01. [3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 - Professional < 35k (average 30k)
02. [PS4] For Honor < 25k (average 20k)
03. [PS4] Nioh < 25k (average 20k)
If second week of Nioh is expected to do 20k then does this means that first week is expected to do around 70-80k?

Wow, that's quite the drop just before January. I know it's daily chart, but still...

Regarding Fire Emblem Heroes, the Launch celebration campaign (2 free orbs/day) ends tomorrow (technically, today is the last day), so getting orbs will be harder from now on (unless they launch another campaign).

Really curious to see what they're going to do regarding micro-transactions and all, since so far, they haven't been too agressive (quite a lot of freebies).

People were saying it lasts until the 20th though? I thought it was in the same boat as the training maps being half off stamina wise

No, that campaign began on the same day as the game was launched, and lasts until tomorrow (unless they extended it? There's no notification for it, so can't check).

It's separate from the stamina one (which does lasts until Feb. 20th).

Anyway, I don't think this will lead to a sudden increase in spending, or anything. Just curious as to how they will handle freebies in the future. They've been rather generous so far (though they do give you lots of duplicates for summoning). Remember reading some tweets from Serkan Toto talking about micro-transactions and stuff a few days ago.

Leaks:

Professional ~120k
Nioh ~75k
Online ~40k

Everything above YSO expectations.

From predictions of 20-30k based on preorders to 75k first week, NiOh has a real shot at 150-200k LTD, or more.

YSO predicted GR2 25k ,it did 75k
Now Nioh 25k->75K
Seems YSO*3 is result

Nice. That's a far cry from the original prediction of 20-30k.

Finding what was actually predicted must not be so hard.

Never really understand these out-of-stock comments. I mean how many more it would sale if it is not out-of-stock ?

It depends but when some game goes out of stock normally it gets a new shipment more than a week later so the interest from some buyers diminishes, they buy anything else and then you have sales lost.

In case of leggy games as Animal Crossing it doesn't matter but in case of other titles more dependant on first week sales it could be crucial to go out of stock and re-stocked 2 weeks later because of the disenterest and Japan being not so digital (although this seems to be changing).
