Media Create Sales: Week 50, 2013 (Dec 09 - Dec 15)

People is not saying there isn't a Tales fan in Japan that doesn't have a PS3. But most have a PS3, that's obvious. If you are a Tales fan, buy a PS3 now that you can get it for cheap and play the games. That's the message they're sending since Tales of Xillia, and that was in 2011.

This gen 360 and Wii both got 1 tales games PS3 gets 6 (!) with Zesteria. That's already telling.

Edit: Deleting this post...

Anyways, clearly Namco has no interest in expanding the Tales audience in the West and just hopes folks will flock to the PS3/4 for those titles, which may end up working out fine.

Oh man, dem increases.

Wii U sales are higher than I expected (again). 3DS is underwhelming, Vita is still vita (at least there is growth).
No comment for VTV.

According to Famitsu, it (I assume we're talking about DQX Expansion on the Wii U) sold 80-100% in its first week. It wouldn't be surprising if it sold out this week if that's the case.

I doubt there is a possibilitty this game sells close to one million. I don't see hype surrounding the title.

If I remember correctly you also doubt Luigi's Mansion 2, and look where is now. One million in Week 1 2014.
But yeah, i agree one million is too much for Zelda. But I can see 700-800k perfectly.

As for Dragon Quest X, the game was sold out first week, but had a re-shipment on the second week and there's no stock problems anymore. If the game is not longer in the rankings i doubt i'll come back.

Are you sure about this? I doubt DQX Wii would drop 92% on its second week.

Just yesterday I checked the usual online stores and it was sold out everywhere. Now it seems to be back in stock again, Amazon did expect the new shipment to arrive later this week.

I recently got into the tales series.

I wish they would do more handheld games be it the Vita or 3DS.

Well, whenever it goes to the PS4 you'll be able to Remote Play it. You'll need a good connection though, Tales of is a game when you need as low input lag as posible :)

Miku arrived on comg preorder. I'm pretty pleased about that.

Is it launching around March, right? Both the PS3 and the Vita version. And the Vita has Rise Kujikawa: Project Inaba game in Summer... or was it fall? xD

1 million is a high goal for a Zelda game in Japan.
But I think ALBW could do very well (for a Zelda game) in the mid/long term (LTD > 700K).

Err 360 got 1 (Vesperia), Wii got 2 (ToS2 and Graces), PS3 got 5 (Vesperia, Graces f, Xillia 1 & 2, Zesteria), 6 (7?) if you include the ToS collection.

Oh yeah forgot about ToS2 and yeah I added ToS collection as one game. Still PS3 has all the tales games released this gen on home console and better version at that it's no brainer what console to pick for Tales.

For Luigi's Mansion I didn't believe it would sell 1 million but I gave it a range 500-1000k.

Do you want my range for Zelda?

0-500k

Comgnet pre-orders are pretty much meaningless for Nintendo titles.
They predicted 3DWorld would underperform.
Comgnet chain stores comparison, as of November 16, 2013
[WII] Super Mario Galaxy - 148pt
[WII] Super Mario Galaxy 2 - 192pt
[3DS] Super Mario 3D World - 182pt
[3DS] Kid Icarus: Uprising - between 67pt and 84pt
[3DS] Luigi's Mansion 2 - between 168pt and 186pt
[WIIU] Pikmin 3 - 64pt
[WIIU] Super Mario 3D World - 43pt

Final note: as already said, looking at recent results, Comgnet's ratio between pts and actual sales has decreased overall, for many kind of software and brands, on all the consoles; i.e., there's an on-going trend where number of sales per pt are increasing. Obviously, this doesn't excuse giant differences like those for FF and, abvoe all, Mario.

Chances are that your range will not be meat though :(.

Do you want my range for Zelda?

0-500k

I'll give a range of the same size, too: 200k-700k. Chances for my range to be meat are higher than for yours, I'd guess :D.

I think the idea is they cannot determine evergreen performance. SM3DW will likely stick around for a while and I'm not sure we know where it'll end up. It may depend on Mario Kart's performance as well.

Square Enix has announced "Guns and Souls feat. Song Summoner":

http://gunsandsouls.com
Free to play with item micro transactions.
Character Design by Roberto Ferrari (Previously worked on Song Summoner and Final Fantasy XV)
Scenario by Yukinori Kitajima (Chaos Rings series, Senran Kagura series, 428, Professor Layton VS. Ace Attorney, Ace Attorney 5 http://synthese.jp/contents/works/index.html)
Japan only it seems. Coming out soon for iOS, Android in 2014.

You may remember Song Summoner as one of Square Enix's first iOS games. That game was a paid title, while this one seems very loosely related, and is also f2p.

So far I note they're continuing their trend of making their recent ground-up iOS content f2p. Guardian Cross, Deadman's Cross, Chaos Rings Sigma, and this are all f2p, and Bloodmasque seems to have been made indefinitely free as well.

The Chaos Rings games are also all 75% off right now (and the FF titles sans The After Years 50% off) as part of their holiday sale. I'm guessing the Chaos Rings titles have extra deep sales on the basis of wanting to hype Chaos Rings Sigma given it's out in early 2014.

I wanted to share this look inside the mind of a Japanese game publisher that Poetic.Injustice found:

Namco Bandai's director of global strategy for mobile Alex Adjaj said the publisher is interested in a mobile entry, but it has proved "difficult" to convince developer From Software.

"We'd like to bring Dark Souls to mobile, but it's very difficult because the guys at From Software are very much console oriented," he told Digital Spy. "To change their mind about it, it takes quite a while.

"The leads on Dark Souls are saying we don't want to do mobile because the controls would have to be changed, and therefore it won't be Dark Souls anymore.

"At the same time, you have a growth in controllers for mobile. I think it's not an impossible case scenario to see a Dark Souls game coming to mobile at some point.
Adjaj added that while it "could work incredibly well for mobile", Namco Bandai would have to take into account the tastes of different markets.

"I think there is a need to redesign the way you reroll in the game to make it a bit more casual, so with shorter sessions," he explained.

"But definitely it's something we could bring to mobile in a very successful way.

"It's tricky because mobile has grown to be the biggest platform today, just in terms of install base."

He continued: "There's a very aggressive growth in South East Asia, Japan, South Korea and China. China is becoming a very strong element in our decision-making now.

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/12/20/school-days-developer-overflow-making-island-days-nintendo-3ds/

From what I found, the other episodes in this VN series were on PC, PS2 and PSP. The next episode being a 3DS exclusive is quite a change.

Trying to replicate the masterpiece (lol) that was School Days. Never going to happen again guys. School Days was revolutionary in showing viewers how much of a little shit a protagonist can be without putting people off the show.

I didn't even know there was a Shiny Days. Sounds stupid.

I think it's important to note that Alex Adjaj is "Namco Bandai's director of global strategy for mobile .So of course he would want those games on phones .

It would be the same if the CEO of Sony's phone division wants to have God of war on their Xperia phones .

they would very much like it if those games came to Phones but both are unlikely to happen .
