Sooner or later Nintendo is going to brag about the eshop sales of AC. It must be a pretty impressive number with even the download cards being hard to find.

I really don't know what to expect with Fantasy Life (or IE 1-2-3). What kind of number would be needed for them to be considered successes?

An unproved yet from Amazon ratings (popular?) new IP. Plus it's co-developed by Brownie Brown so that may sway some fans towards it despite Level 5's seemingly soiled reputation... Really anything between 50k and 120k is possible here.

I think IE1-2-3 will be between 30k and 80k.

These people are to be referred to as casual assholes. Not because of something they've done like teabagged you in Wii Sports or because they smack talked you over WiiSpeak in Animal Crossing. But, they're assholes just because they play those games that murder traditional game sales.

Who do they think they are. Gamers and the GAF hivemind are not to be trifled with. Double standards exist for a reason.

I kind of wonder if he was joking.

I'm never had any interest in an Inazuma game, but six games in one is mighty tempting. Is it good for your average RPG fan, or would the childish anime bits annoy me?

Also, checking Nintendo's website, Resident Evil Mercenaries and Love Plus Plus got download versions released this week (along with other boringer stuff). Shame we can't have trackers for only download sales. I wish Nintendo would publish that stuff!

I'm waiting for Fire Emblem to be downloadable, and I won't buy Dragon Quest VII when it comes out waiting for the unlikely chance that a download version is released (like BD).

They really have to give Inazuma Eleven a break after this. 3 titles in one month? What are they expecting the franchise to do?

Not that it means much, but Fantasy Life had been hovering around the top of the most wanted and most wanted new IP lists in Famitsu for the last month and a half.

that is the only way I would want to buy this so I wonder if Japan really has a shortage, you can still download the game without the cards by using money right?

Fantasy Life is easily gonna be over 100k first week. Or at least Level 5 hopes so.

January is very dead for new releases. I guess we'll be either not doing predictions or guessing Animal Crossing sales for the third time...

Though I was also one of those on the boat expecting VII to hit Wii as warmup to X.

I still think it was planned to before Wii imploded. I think DQVII and MH3G were both Wii titles that just shifted to 3DS after Wii's huge downturn and Nintendo saying "Hey, uh, what about bringing those to our successor to the most successful console in Japanese history with comparable power?"

  • Total software this week: 2.722 million
  • 3DS software: 1.271 million
  • PSP One Piece bundles: 15k

am i understanding ths graph wrong or did you include firstparty ?

I think JoshuaJSlone put first party by mistake.

You can see the ids on the chart S121 and S146 are for all software on Garaph. Third party should look like this:

3DS

Heh, I like how they put the Animal Crossing clones together.

I wonder why they release so close to AC, though.

AC released a month and a half ago. It's just still selling like a new release, is all.

Can't you get AC through eShop? Why buy a download card?

Japan tends to not be download heavy for games. Download cards are like a bridge to give them a chance to buy something physical in a store and still download it. It's just a way to make it easier for 1) retailers to accept downloadable games and 2) consumers in Japan to accept downloadable games. U.S. doesn't really have that hangup, apparently.

Is Fantasy Life really expected to be bigger than Inazuma 1-2-3? What sort of numbers are we expecting?
Yeah no, I can totally see Inazuma selling more than Fantasy Life maybe not by much, I would say 40k-50k for IE and around 25k-35k for FL, first week obviously.

but PxZ didn't perform well >_>

Unless those numbers are the standard for that kind of game then please ignore me.

It didn't perform well for a game staring the characters of 3 successful video game companies. Fantasy Life is a new IP, and so those sales wouldn't be terrible, just not great.

It might be more successful, but it should be at least as successful. Certainly not 25K-30K - that would be abysmal. The game has also been in development for four or more years, correct? (Switching from DS to 3DS in the process).

Soooo CoD: Declassified >> CoD: Blops II Wii U? (I've asked before if this week was the release of Cod Wii U but I didn't see an answer si I don't know for sure)

IIRC, someone estimated 70k eShop purchase (without download cards, of course) in the first week.

lol @ Kirby
As for the second one, it's incredible how it's still in the chart, while Brain Training already disappeared.

Brain Training pretty much bombed. I'm more impressed at Style Savvy still doing relatively well, I expected it to have the same fate as most DS casual mega hit sequels.

Yes, it seems that there are only 2 interesting releases (Digimon Adventures and DmC: Devil May Cry). Besides the 3rd month of Animal Crossing: New Leaf we could also include Fantasy Life and Wii U hardware.

Fantasy Life could be an interesting title to predict since we still won't know its first week sales.

[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf (28d) -
[3DS] Fantasy Life (28d) -
[PSP] Digimon Adventures (11d) -
[PS3+360] DmC: Devil May Cry (11d) -
[WIU] Hardware (28d) -

It's also true that Brain Training could be downloaded from eShop far more than all the other titles.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Total 3DS software in Media Create top 20: 903.444
Combining this with 21-30 sales for 3DS games according to Famitsu: around 1.046.000
So, around 200-230k of software have been sold outside of top 30 for 3DS.

I think JoshuaJSlone put first party by mistake.

So, it's true that third parties are doing better on 3DS compared to DS. This is in sharp contrast with the graph Joshua posted earlier

3DS

Around 15 millions of difference...but third parties are doing better! I'm wondering who's the software house lacking so much in sales :p

And this is actually something I'd expand worldwide.

[3DS] Fantasy Life (28d) -
[PSP] Digimon Adventures (11d) -
[PS3+360] DmC: Devil May Cry (11d) -
[WIU] Hardware (28d)

This would be a shot in the dark, we can only make wild guesses on wether Wii U and Animal crossing are going to hold on or nosedive
let's do it! :D

I wonder whether Bravely Default got some holiday boost so to bring it close to 300k units.

Third parties are doing much, much better, with a much better support of course.
As for total software, I think at this point Nintendo already released Pokémon Diamond / Pearl.
