Media Create Sales: Week 51, 2012 (Dec 17 - Dec 23)

Mainly the Wii U numbers, but I don't know what date the interview was on.
The interview is clearly from the 26th to the 31st. The WiiU is above 550k, and the 3DS just needs 470k more units to reach 10M, which means 2 more weeks of sales or "in the new year" as Iwata said.

Bomba! It didn't seem it was so off from the first shipment, though.

What do you think will happen to Wii U in January? Have Level-5 another hit on their hands? Can DmC escape all the negativity?

Prediction League January, 2013

Predict how much these titles will sell in the month (from Dec 31 to Jan 27):

[PSP] Digimon Adventures (11d) -
[PS3+360] DmC: Devil May Cry (11d) -
[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf (28d) -
[3DS] Fantasy Life (28d) -
[WIU] New Super Mario Bros. U (28d) -
[WIU] Hardware (28d) -

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Initial deadline: January, 2nd 08:00 am (EST) (when Famitsu or Media Create first make their weekly sales public)

Attention:
  • Remember for some games it's not only the 1st week.
  • Multiplatform games are the combined available sales of each platform.
Rules:
  • The official monthly hardware sales will be the sum of weekly numbers for all versions of the system available from Famitsu.
  • The official monthly software sales will be the latest total or the sum of the weekly numbers if the title is release before the period available from the Famitsu Top 30.
  • The official monthly sales for multi-platform releases will be the combined available sales of each platform shown in the title entry.
  • The official monthly sales for games with multiple versions will be the combined available sales of each version shown in the title entry.
  • Any game missing in the Famitsu top 30 will be taken out of the predictions.
  • Any item missing in your prediction will be considered as if you had predicted zero for its sales.

Quick and dirty. 48 hours to predict. I imagine it's enough for all the 5 people interested this month.

Plus if the trackers are delayed, the deadline can be delayed, but I wouldn't bet on it. So far, only 4Gamer has said they will post numbers only January 9th, but we don't know what Famitsu will do.

2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th weeks. First week is not included, it was already this month. =\

Ni no Kuni sold 270k in the equivalent weeks, but it got more holiday sales time, not to mention plenty of stock.

85k is how much the first Little Battlers eXperience PSP sold.

Ok, thanks.
The fact is that it's really hard to predict how the game will sell after the first week without having any indication about the first week, but it's a game so let's what happens.

That's the point. =P

This question might be stupid, and I might even be answering it as I type but.. With games like NSMBU and FL, we're not supposed to predict the LTD up to Jan 27, only what it sells on this period, disregarding sales previous to Dec. 31st, right?

Fake Edit: Nvm, been answered above :p

You know, Remember when the DS did like 500k+ in single week? I don't think we will ever see that again :(

Great numbers for the 3DS though, and Animal Crossing is doing great as well.

It was 57.55%, which is not the end of the world. However, the 2nd week drop was 85%, which indicated it wouldn't be easy to sell the stock left.
By my guess it was around 30k~ off the shipment when it dropped off the charts. I think there's probably around 5-10k floating around retailers, not very good at all. Had the game dropped 50-60% on 2nd week, it wouldn't be this bad.

sounds to good to be true. I need my big assed crazy numbers nintendo.

Of course it won't happen. Pokémon will be released in September, so to exploit both the launch period AND holiday season. Diamond / Pearl was released September 28, 2006 and it never dropped below 100k units, selling more than 200k units weekly at the end of the year. When Diamond / Pearl was released, DS had a userbase of around 10 mln, and that week sold 300k units.

Depending on when MH and Pokemon release its possible. I was about 100% positive Nintendo was releasing pokemon in september 2013 but now with MH4 releasing in August I'm not sure.

3DS did manage 411K this week which is still massive. Next year there is a good chance that we will see pokemon and MH 4 released towards the end of the year, i think we're going to see some monster numbers.

You are right. Add to that the rest of the quasi-"announced" 3DS titles possibly lined up for the Holiday (Professor Layton 6? DKC3D? Mario RPG? World Ends With You 2? Mother trilogy? Xeno 3DS? Kirby 3DS? Sin & Punishment 3? New Legend of Zelda? Diddy Kong Racing 3D?), or even just a third or them. Throw in some sort of casual edutainment title and we may have seen nothin' yet, for 3DS... 600k+?

I think a new Kirby game is a given for next Christmas.

Are we having numbers regularly this week?

Short answer: most likely not

Long answer:

famitsu.com: Jan 7
4gamer.com: Jan 9
m-create.com: unknown (if normal, Jan 4, 10am JST)
dengeki.com: unknown (if normal, Jan 4, ~2pm JST, no hardware)

There also are a bunch of other sites that post Media Create software numbers Thursday (in Japan), but if Media Create is the one late, then every site will be:

inside-games.jp
itmedia.co.jp
gamer.ne.jp

And I don't know if I'll be available to post.

Damn, I was hoping for Famitsu numbers for tomorrow :( We'll have to wait for MC through inside-games.jp, then (like last year).

One Piece: Unlimited Cruise SP sold 323K on 3DS? thought it sold on par with Gigant Battle titles (which is between 250K-300K)... With the exception of One Piece Musou, it looks like One Piece is pretty consistent regardless platforms.
