I see many clearance prices at comgnet. MH4 could be in there.

03. [PS3] JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle – 275pt
04. [3DS] Pokemon Tretta Lab for Nintendo 3DS (First Press Edition) – 149pt
11. [PS3] Tales of Symphonia: Unisonant Pack – 66pt
17. [PS3] Lost Planet 3 – 53pt

These games won't be neither in top 50.

New year can benefits Monster Hunter more than Christmas, but seeing than Jojo's Bizarre Adv is also there, it seems more a special tag of price for this week.

So, most of the games are up this week too, or at least in a similar level than last week.

Too bad Zelda and FF X Vita are completly sold out that couldnt charted. Too bad too miss one of the more important weeks of the year. Nintendo and Square will regret that.

I don't imagine these two would sell very much if they weren't on sale.

EDIT: ...On sale as in discounted prices. Wow, that was a really silly statement.

I'm really curious to see the breakdown of FFX/X-2 with all the different bundles. I saw plenty of the twin packs while I was in Tokyo last week.

Not just Japan related, but we know how much Tomita stands to gain from the 3D tech in the 3DS, at 1.84% per 3DS unit for the royalty rate.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=746296

I can see Nintendo pushing for a 2DS release in Japan sooner than later to help cut out Tomita's royalty rate, sell a cheaper product and make a higher profit margin because they don't have to worry about Tomita getting a slice.

We'll get the week we missed on Monday and then the regular week on Wednesday if I understand correctly.

I think this may have happened last year too thinking back.

Yep, I checked and it was exactly as you said. So we should get week 52 on monday and week 1 on wednesday.

Last year we got Famitsu Week 52 numbers at 16:00 Japanese Time.
Now it's 9:18 here.

So that's about 6 hours from now. Nice to know. Thanks.

so tommorow we'll find out if luigis mansion 2 successfully sold 1 million retail copies by the end of 2013?

i hope it did

I hope so, too. Definitely deserves the sales, and I love that Nintendo was trusting enough to let Next Level make it for them. Hopefully a sign of good things to come with western collaborations.

For the people who aren't regulars in Media Create threads:

What is Tsutaya?
Tsutaya is a major retailer with 1,440 retail stores (612 that sell new games) all across Japan.

What is Comgnet?
Comgnet is the website for the retailer "COMG!" that has 17 retail stores across the Niigata Prefecture in Japan.

Why post these rankings?
They are released three days before Media Create + Famitsu + Dengeki give us nationwide sales, so we get a general indication of how well the games will perform relative to their competition.

How accurate is Tsutaya compared to nationwide retail tracking services?
It's large enough that it gives a very probable indication of future sales rankings, but it's not large enough to be definitive.

How accurate were Tsutaya's rankings last week?
Code:
TBD (this will be determined when Media Create releases Week 52 rankings)

History:

Week 47: ~1.3 places different
Week 48: ~2.4 places different
Week 49: ~1.4 places different
Week 50: ~2.4 places different (70% unadjusted / 88% adjusted of MC Top 10 in Tsutaya Top 10)
Week 51: ~1.4 places different (60% unadjusted / 75% adjusted of MC Top 10 in Tsutaya Top 10)

Famitsu: ~3,600 stores
Media Create + Dengeki: >3,000 stores
Tsutaya: 612 stores
Comgnet: 17 stores

It looks like many Comgnet titles were affected by either lack of stock or steep clearance discounts...which affects its sales and rankings this week.

Thanks Road.

I'm glad that in Tsutaya they had more stock for Zelda, FF X Vita and Attack on Titan.
Fortunately the drop for week 1 won't be as big as I was thinking.

USA prices

3DS XL - 200
3DS - 170
2DS - 130

JP prices

3DS LL - 18900
3DS - 15000
2DS - ?

2DS price could theoritically be very close to 10000 with simplistic mathematic

Those price points were set prior to the yen weakening in 2013. After the 3DS price drop it was more expensive than the US version (~$200,) same with the LL vs the XL (~$240.) edit: using conversion rates from around that time.

This is probably one of the main reason they have chosen not to release the 2DS in Japan yet, they can't get away with increasing the price of the OG/LL and if they wanted to achieve parity with the US for the 2DS they would need to release it north of 13k yen. As it stands, the OG is roughly $143, not too far off from the US price for the 2DS.

Yep, this is what I thought when the 2DS was first announced. I still don't think it will ever get released in Japan, much like the Wii Mini. Another reason is it is big and bulky, and that does not appeal to Japanese consumers. I could see them releasing a 2DS model for Japan that retains the foldable clamshell design, some time down the road, however (especially since they recently lost that lawsuit on the 3D patent).

Interesting. A few weeks of increased sales looks good in the short term, but I'm ore interested to see the sales coming into the post-holiday stretch.

Vita TV just isn't a good system.

It never made much sense for the japanese market. it's interesting how Sony is approaching the west with it, between the reluctance to confirm its release and the region locking. probably trying to carefully plan it out as a kind of "relaunch" for the platform over here.
