Are there any launch aligned numbers between the Wii and the Switch?
What a beast.

Well launch year holiday sales of the Wii in japan where 350k(27nov-3dec) 85k(4-10dec) 108k(11-17dec) 485k(dec18-24). DS numbers for the same weeks where 176k, 309k, 319k,485k.
in 2007: 74k(nov26-dec2) 115k(3-9dec) 170k(10-16dec) 232k(17-23dec)
Nintendo DS in the same weeks 124k, 168k, 222k, 279k

FF to 2011 with the 3ds 205k(nov28-dec4), 350k(5-11dec), 367k(12-18dec) 482k(dec 19-25). 3ds sales where huge mostly because of the recently launched MH triG. same week sales for Wii 31k, 46k, 60k, 91k.

2012 for 3ds was 167k 211k 319k 411k (last week of November until the 23rd of dec)

FF to 2017 and the Switch got these sales numbers 124k(nov27-dec3) 164k(Dec4-10), 221k(dec 11-17), 269k (dec 18-24)

So
Wii holiday 2006: 1 028 000 total
Wii holiday 2007: 591 000 total
Ds holiday 2006: 1 289 000 total
Ds holiday 2007: 793 000 total
3ds holiday 2011: 1 404 000 total(tnx to mh3g)
3ds holiday 2012: 1 108 000 total
Switch holiday '17: 782 000 total

wow at switch numbers. Looks like they nailed the japanese market this time around and nintendo always does sell well in America.

xenobomba looks like a flop.

Just 3 weeks after release during the high season and it stopped charting. Maybe if the game had legs, but the franchise has not been strong in that regard historically speaking.

Then again, is selling pretty much the same amount of x in the first weeks (but x was not released during the high season); IDK, it looks like a highly risky IP for nintendo from this point and On.

Man Japan really REALLY love their handhelds. Even the 3ds and vita got boosts. It feels like it's a miracle the PS4 is even in there. Which is also very telling of the PS4.

Hot damn, Splatoon. Hot DAMN.

Also, Xenoverse on switch Remy showed them legs. Pretty good for late port, huh?

And it's official now for banco: taiko bombed hard on PS4. They should've tried another one on wiiu. Couldnt be that bad.

I wonder if the Switch can compete with the 3DS' numbers since it is something of a portable-hybrid

Look at the numbers above, 3ds never really had hardware shortages iirc. These kinda sales numbers with hardware restrictions/shortages and without a (new) portable monsterhunter is quite good.

3ds's first holiday had a new monsterhunter(triG). I know its a port of the wii game, but japan is portable land and ate it up.

Yea its a shame, i find xenoblade 2 quite a good game. Maybe japan is weary because of the performance in handheld mode since japan is mostly handheld oriented? Hopefully it doesn't stop Nintendo from greenlighting a new xenoblade game, be it xenoblade chronicles X2 or xenoblade chronicles 3.

Another great week for Nintendo. Switch is on beast mode and several first party games selling quite well. And another million seller for the list. And if things keep like that, Splatoon 2 will reach the 2 million mark soon.

I was curious to see how Atelier Lydie & Soeur would perform on Switch, and looks it was "not match" for the PS4 version and I was expecting something like 15k and for my surprise :

19./00. [NSW] One Piece: Kaizoku Musou 3 - Deluxe Edition {2017.12.21} - 16.011 / NEW

Did very good. I was expecting less than 10K.

Not in Japan. 3DS did 482K (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=457007) in Week 51 of 2011 and sold about 4M in its first year. Switch isn't even close to touching that. 3DS needed a price cut and the trio of 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Monster Hunter 3G to turn around the tides though during the holidays. The Switch had good software support but instead had hardware supply issues.

Are there any launch aligned numbers between the Wii and the Switch?
What a beast.
In Japan, Switch is close to outselling Wii if I'm not mistaken. Wii actually burned out in Japan quicker and sales slowed down after Obon in 2007, which is in August. It still sold fairly well in its first 3-4 years or so (up through 2010).

wow at switch numbers.

Xenoblade 2 showed up in Famitsu & Dengeki charts and sales went up a bit this week (like 10-15%). Xenoblade 2 has already outsold all but the original game, which sold about 169K in its lifetime. 2 should eventually outsell that. It'll probably be the best selling game of the franchise in JP, the question is whether there'll be a lot of growth or just a smidge.

Man Japan really REALLY love their handhelds. Even the 3ds and vita got boosts. It feels like it's a miracle the PS4 is even in there. Which is also very telling of the PS4.
The PS4 is pretty disappointing in Japan. It's doing a bit better than the PS3 in both hardware and software, but the PS4 has a TON more support (got a Dragon Quest along with 3DS, getting Monster Hunter and Kingdom Hearts basically exclusively, etc.). It also doesn't have the price problems that the PS3 had, and has basically released all of its revisions. Plus, the PS3 was competing against the Wii, PSP & DS and ended up being the worst selling JP console of that gen (10M ain't shabby for being 4th place though). I'm pretty sure the PS4 got the bulk of software support this year, as the Switch and 3DS barely got any.

I wonder if the Switch can compete with the 3DS' numbers since it is something of a portable-hybrid
It's kind of the only portable left though once the 3DS fades (Vita's already dead basically). It's selling like a portable thus far.

Bamco releases a Taiko on every platform. It was the PS4's turn this year and thus it released. Not a big deal honestly, as there's definitely another one releasing for Switch down the line. The PS4 isn't likely getting a Taiko sequel though unless this one has some really good legs or good WW sales. Vita's sold 100K and the PS4 version has barely crossed 50K. Vita didn't get another Taiko.

Xenoverse 2 will probably outsell the original release on PS4 at this rate. I think the PS4 version was at like 110 - 120K even with the recent GOTY edition.

Pirate Warriors 3 did very well for such a late port. Agreed.

Atelier did pretty poorly as you can see with Dengeki #s. PS4 version declined, and Switch + Vita didn't even match the previous title's Vita sales iirc. Then again I think it's a problem with the series quality itself, not the platforms.

41./00. [NSW] Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings (Koei Tecmo) {2017.12.21} - 6,684 / NEW

At least was close to the PS Vita version, I think it was expected the the sales would be PS4>VITA>Switch

But I wonder how much was the initial shipment of the Switch version.

And this was also interesting :

21./28. [NSW] FIFA 18 (Electronic Arts) {2017.09.29} - 16,006 / 64,379

Xenoverse 2 for Switch is doing very well. I hope this means that Fighters Z will be on Switch soon.

And :

34./00. [PS4] Okami HD (Capcom) {2017.12.21} - 9,053 / NEW

Maybe this on Switch would have better numbers.

At least was close to the PS Vita version, I think it was expected the the sales would be PS4>VITA>Switch

But I wonder how much was the initial shipment of the Switch version.

I didn't expect the Atelier numbers to be so low across the board, but I guess anything can happen going from Lost Sphear's debut vs I am Setsuna. I wonder if KT will give the series a break it needs, even though L&S seem like a more heartfelt project than the usual.
