Quick notes: in 2016, 287 games charted at least once in the Top 20 (actually, it should be 289 as I count all versions of Animal Crossing: New Leaf as one... well, I would for other games if both regular and budget versions charted during the same year). That number was 311 in 2015 and 310 in 2014. I didn't count, but fairly certain more games charted on PS4+V than Nintendo platforms (well, no surprise with the Wii U in the state it's been).

SaGa crawling to >100k, Yakuza 6 crawling to >350k, FFXV crawling to >900k. Will SaGa hit 150k? Will Yakuza 6 hit 500k? Will FFXV hit 1 million?! Exciting foot race!

Not actually that important
When do the monthly Famitsu Charts with digital + cards show up?
I wanna know how much Battle Garegga (which also had a premium physical LE -sold out?- tho it only included a download card) sold, maybe there's a chance it might show up at the tail end of the chart?

Valentine day: Girls will give FFXV to her crush instead of chocolate. "Why not? It's cheaper and bitter" she said.

FFXV's legs will also depend on how transparent SE is about the patches' release dates and the DLC. Those are pretty big additions to the game, not to mention the online stuff coming.
We'll see if patches and DLC have any effect though. FFXIII-2 dropped on Week 1 by 40% despite Week 1 being a "bump" week (and was properly aligned like this year, being Jan 02 - Jan 08 like this week). Week 2 will most definitely drop it by 50%+.

Wonder if Wii U will fall to triple digits sometime before NS releases.....

Does anyone think SE will do a retail GOTY/Ultimate Edition re-release of FFXV for Japan once the DLC and patches are implemented?

Pokémon already ahead of Mario Kart and Super Mario. Good grief. What Pokémon has done in just a couple months took 5 years on the charts for Mario Kart. That's massive.

Well, maybe FFXV will come to 1m, since there still ~200k unsold copies and price started to drop with faster rate now that holidays almost finished but it will be a long wait.

edit: Fot those in Japan, is Sukiyaki in short supply?

Is it at most places. The only shop I checked with still copies left was Tsutaya in Shibuya.

So Minecraft Vita is the leggiest game this generation?

Only Western games for PS4 on the leg-o-meter.

Sukiyaki must have faced supply problems this week too since it's the only 3DS thing the 2 trackers come close. Famitsu has hw 70% higher and sw 45-75% higher from Media Create. Sukiyaki is 20%.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Quoting from the Switch discussion thread:

I've seen that the article is a few days old (posted on January 6th), I wonder why didn't anyone post it earlier. We need a good translation to see if the article describes that price as a guess or as something not vague, and especially a look at the complete article ( this is just an extract).

Yeah, proper translation is always appreciated. I don't think we ended up getting a second look at the Epic interview. :(

So

Is this the 3ds And Vita original price in Japan?
Didnt set the charts on fire I would say. ..
Are consequently they trying tot sell it as a home also there?

I already replied to you in the thread but:

The 3DS got its price drop in its 25th Week. I just went back and checked the first 25 weeks sales for the four relevant systems in Japan this generation. After 25 weeks(give or take) they were at:

3DS: 1,500,000
Vita: 765,000
Wii U: 928,000
PS4: 658,000

The 3DS was always doing better than any other system this gen. Even when the country was wrecked by a Tsunami weeks after the device launched.

The 3DS didn't hit the ground running at 25,000 Yen but it was in very difficult circumstances.

That'd be a better opening than II.5 and on par with I.5.

Fairly good given the content of the package.

Dream Drop Distance proved better value than main entries?

Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 ReMIX <Kingdom Hearts \ Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories>
Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 ReMIX <Kingdom Hearts II \ Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ \ Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep>
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8: Final Chapter Prologue <Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD \ Kingdom Hearts χ: Back Cover \ Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage>

New content, even if it's only 3 hours, is better value than old content. It's overpriced as hell too

That's what I meant, they saw good value at this collection despite not including main entries, leaving price the same.

DDD is not the important part of that package.

No, that what I meant.

It has less content than the other collections and its doing better or on par with them, so its fairly good.

I think there is also the factor that out of all the KH games, the least fans played DDD. It kinda bombed in Japan. Lowest selling "main" KH by far. In fact if we count the mobile and DS releases of Coded, more Japanese fans probably played through that.

So this could be seen as "KH3 demo plus that KH game I didn't buy on the 3DS!"

Or maybe many people that were interested in kingdom hearts already moved on to PS4 and didn't want to buy the hd collections on PS3. Maybe the combined PS4 package coming in a couple of months will also sell similar numbers like 2.8

How would they have already moved on to PS4 when the first remaster came out nearly a year before the PS4 was released in Japan? (And the second remaster released at a time where the PS3 userbase was more active than the PS4 one).

The easier explanation is that afaik the japanese buying public was never massively into HD remasters.

Well then I am wrong in that case. I personally knew they would be crazy not to bring them to ps4 after announcing kh3 and didn't even bother picking them up on PS3 when it came to na

We'll see soon enough I guess. It's true that the way Square waited so long to release them on the PS4 is a bit baffling.

Rakuten Books Ranking Week 52, 2016 (Dec 26 - Jan 01)

***WARNING***

* Note: Games on the Rakuten Books Rankings are ONLY based on sales at Rakuten Books and does NOT count games sold by other retailers at Rakuten.
** Note 2: Games on the Pre-Orders Ranking are counted as net sales, so it might possibly affect the games listed on the Sales Ranking, since those sales are NOT added afterwards.

How is Monster Hunter XX doing on pre-orders compared to X or 4G or even 4 in the similar timeframe?

Not good. The only positive point I would give is the fact that XX pre-orders started almost two months ago and this last month of December was quite awful for reservations in general since people was more centred on buying more than pre-ordering. X reservations started in August, and they kept good momentum throughout their three months of space.

^
Do you think people are sensing that a Switch version of XX might happen or is MH hitting franchise fatigue? Or did Japan dislike X?

No idea, really. In January we should see a better performance even though Switch version wasn't possible. But, with Nintendo helding the event, after 13th is when pre-orders should move towards one direction or another.

Maybe the G version model of releases is starting to tire people out? 4G didn't do particularly amazing either.
