I expect, in fact, i'm sure of it.

Youre sure it will sell less than a million or that it will sell more than a million?

Because 20K a week is barely a million. Considering the Ps4 sold above expectations on here during the holidays and continues to sell better than expected despite all its releases being multiplatform I can't see how it won't reach a million unless there are literally no games releasing after March.

So all the people laughing at the 20k a week expect the ps4 to sell less than a million this year?

That it will sell less of course. I don't see it doing 20k weekly either. Unless it has some very big weeks and an awesome holiday, it won't even get near the million.

The ps4 only did one million last year (and that's not even a sure thing to say, since that's according to média create. On famitsu it only passed the Mark this year) because it got almost half of its sales on its launch. The rest of the year was just usual business, even selling less than the wiiu, which was already selling less than the year before.

I expect this year to be better for the console, but not that much. Maybe 800k at the end.

PREDICTION LEAGUE 2015 YEAR

Predict how much these items will sell in 2015 (from 2014/12/29 to 2015/12/27):

[3DS] Yokai Watch 3 -
[WIU] Animal Crossing -
[3DS] Pokémon Z/X2/Y2 -
[ALL] Final Fantasy XV -

??????????

Please don't waste our time organizing "prediction leagues" with games which aren't even announced or games which won't be released in a given period.

I'm confident in seeing PS4 selling 1 million this year in Japan.
Same. Even with their current weekly sales, I think they're on pace for over 800k. There will be at least a few times where their weekly sales rise big and I can't imagine them not hitting 1 million.

Xbox One total software sold for the week was 1393.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse probably didn't even hit 4 digits. RIP in peace Bamco support.

I'm surprised they even bothered printing those discs.

Can you imagine how dead the online is on the Xbox One version right now?

Wow. If I was a Japanese 3rd party publisher, I would just make my games Playstation exclusive over in Japan, & save myself a bit of money.

Seeing MK8 selling 4.799 and Wii U 6.517 (M-C) speaks for itself about how bad was the Wii U + MK8 bundle last year.

Is this your personal opinion or a moderation decree?

Both? It serves no purpose predicting sales figures for stuff which aren't even announced. It makes no sense because there is nothing to educate or guide such a guess. It lowers the quality of any possible discussion in future, and the data is meaningless.

What is the earliest a demo has been out compared to the full game? Thinking about FF15 that gets a demo with Type-0 in March(?).

As others have noted, PSO2 is still going strong and getting tons of content.

Phantasy Star Portable came out at time when Phantasy Star Universe was waning, the PSU experience wasn't available in any portable fashion, and those games made considerable changes and balances to the PSU systems to make it way more than fresh (godlike Axe-type updates, etc.)

Though PSNova is a great game, it's really easy to see how an active and vibrant PSO2 that's available for free on the same system likely bit deeply into its sales potential.
That sounds very plausible indeed.

Well, I'm 100% certain YW3 will be released this year. As for the others, I can't say anything; IIRC, Kagari told that FFXV is not being rleased this year, though.

Yes but do you know anything else about it? When would it come out? How many versions are there? Are there other Yokai Watch releases throughout the year? All factors which matter in making a meaningful forecast. For a game like YW in particular, releasing in June and releasing in December could mean a difference of a million or more sales for the period listed.

If we don't care about any of this, then it becomes less of a sales prediction, and more of a "when games will be released" prediction. Which is meaningless.

that bundle really was a waste of time and resources, even compared to the last year one (was it a...family bundle pack? don't remember...)

To be honest, I really doubt we'll even get an Animal Crossing on WiiU now. This was probably gonna be a HD test, but they may delay it for the next console.

I agree. Maybe there's a way to update the list of titles as more games are announced?

I think that given how Japanese announcements usually work, it would make more sense to have a prediction league for the first half of the year, and another for the latter half of the year. I mean, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with having an annual prediction league either, but it would also mean that unannounced stuff should obviously not be included.

Poor Vita. Was that Sony store LE not this week?

It's going to be a rough year without a price cut. It's going to be a rough year with a price cut I suppose.

Glad to see Stranger of Sword City clinging on in Famitsu though. That's an oddly strong performance from Photo Kano if it's just a budget re-release, too.

Didn't even notice Legend of Legacy had tumbled out of top 30, there in Dengeki though. Is it stock problems?

Lost Heroes not a disaster, but not great either. I kinda expected a bit better from DBZ too.

Regarding the 1 million in a year for PS4, I'm thinking it can do it. It's doing a lot better this year so far than I initially thought and I imagine the new releases will help it along.

2013 year bundles were pretty great with a lot of content for what they were worth and it reflected on the system sales, which were better than most expected.

Last year it was just plain bad. The only difference of it to a normal edition was they added Mario kart (a download version to boot) and upped the price in almost 3k yen. At this point, it was just a discount for the game (and since its a digital copy, nintendo didnt lose that much on it to begin with).

They were probably riding on the boat that since its Mario kart a lot of people would jump in, even though the bundle was awful. It even did it for an extent, but with much lower sucess than their last one.

And that's the reason why media create tranks that bundle. Since theres no difference at all except for the game, everyone that is getting this set is essentially buying the game.

True. I think we maybe should also separate software sales predictions from hardware sales predictions.

There is probably also going to be global price cut during the fall. I would guess they will go straight to $299/€299/29.9k yen and skip the $349 price point. They didn't use it with PS3 (that was sold with loss unlike PS4) and even with PS2 their first price cut was from $299 to $199.

[PS4] The Order: 1886 (Limited Edition) <ADV> (Sony Computer Entertainment) (¥12.960)

Some good Xbox One releases. I'm expecting at least a HW bump to 300+ sales.

RIP in peace Wii U

Good to know it'll rest in peace in peace =P.

So all the people laughing at the 20k a week expect the ps4 to sell less than a million this year?

Potentially yes. The Vita barely cracked a million in 2013-2014, and that's a portable. The PS4 has been selling miserably so far. We'll see.

that bundle really was a waste of time and resources, even compared to the last year one (was it a...family bundle pack? don't remember...)

The family bundle pack was quite effective in 2013. The Wii U had its 100K week that December largely because of it imo.

Anyone think we will see an official Wii U price drop or better priced bundle in the next few months?
I think they should do a price drop, because there's a chance that they may miss their forecast and they never did a price drop in Japan, unlike on the rest of the world.

But i think they will wait for the holidays. It's the only time where nintendo gets agrrssive.

There is probably also going to be global price cut during the fall. I would guess they will go straight to $299/€299/29.9k yen and skip the $349 price point. They didn't use it with PS3 (that was sold with loss unlike PS4) and even with PS2 their first price cut was from $299 to $199.

I was thinking the same thing. No way that they'll just do a $50 price cut after about 20 months of staying at the original price tag.

So is Senran Kagura really dead?
I know it's still not out yet, but it doesn't sound like Estival Versus is gonna make any waves.

Isn't there a new cartoon coming up too?

Both? It serves no purpose predicting sales figures for stuff which aren't even announced. It makes no sense because there is nothing to educate or guide such a guess. It lowers the quality of any possible discussion in future, and the data is meaningless.

Yes, it is meaningless. It's not supposed to be a scientific study, with background research and future discussion.

You do if you think it's fun, you pay attention if you're curious about other people's guesses. That is its entire purpose.

True. I think we maybe should also separate software sales predictions from hardware sales predictions.

I'll leave only the hardware, which is the only thing we know is available for sale in 2015. Less work for me. =P

I'm not sure if you're serious? It's like asking how well the last guardian is going to sell back in 2009.

Or asking how well the iPhone 6C will sell. The issue being the iPhone 6C doesn't exist, and probably won't exist.

That prediction league was just made up games or games that are no where near release.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.

If some people are interested in making a friendly game of guessing how much a hypothetical game would have sold in the past, I surely would not try to stop them, even if I'm not interested in it.

I guess its still a bit too early to say, its still about 1.5 months until release. The serie was never a huge seller to begin with, but anything less than ~100k would probably be disappointing i think. If i remember correctly, someone speculated that the serie was "dead" after seeing Senran Kagura 2's sales. If the same happends with Estival Versus, maybe thats the case.
