Nice for SMTF considering it's not V!
Not bad for DQB and Mario Tennis legs too.
RIP WiiU until they get some stock again...

Vita still tumbling, although should be back up next week.

DQB is still doing alright though, and Minecraft has stabilized this week, which is nice.

Not sure what to make of that SMT opening. 50% of the previous game. For something like Soul Sacrifice Delta that was a pretty underwhelming result, but it's still a relatively decent number for this.

Not sure how to think about the new game's sales, then. IIRC it's a new game and not a Final Mix/Fes-style expansion, isn't it? Then the new game sales seem a little low. I wonder if people might be thinking it's only a Final Mix-style expansion, though, from the title?

As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) it's a full sequel, not an expansion.

It's a mainline sequel, like SMT IV-2.

Which just is not a thing that has precedence for the mainline series, iirc.

And then there's the part where SMT IV was the first mainline game in 10 years.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
SMT4Final sales makes sense on some level - its 2016 i think the time for 2D sprites battles for a full price game is over, with 3DS being replaced soon this is the last hurrah for this type of graphics and the most dedicated fans. Even Pokemon and Dragon Quest have moved on a long time ago.

SMT 4 had the bonus of being the first numbered sequel in the mainline series after a long ass time.

12./11. [3DS] Monster Strike <RPG> (Mixi) {2015.12.17} (¥4.500) - 7.477 / 795.122 (-5%)

This game is starting to show legs.

Not sure how to think about the new game's sales, then. IIRC it's a new game and not a Final Mix/Fes-style expansion, isn't it? Then the new game sales seem a little low. I wonder if people might be thinking it's only a Final Mix-style expansion, though, from the title?

It's a new game reusing many assets (including most 3d locations and graphical assets, like 2d demon art and sprites) from SMTIV. There are completely new dungeons, but only one completely new 3d rendered Tokyo district/underground shelter location, while the original had 5 of those).

SMTIVF is certainly not a flop.

That's a pretty bad result for Shin Megami Tensei right?

A lot of people don't care since it's basically still a different SMTIV. It's not Strange Journey nor V, and seems like pretty good sales to me. Probably 100k with digital.

It's a filler-type sequel a la Final Fantasy XIII-2, so it depends on your perspective of how that type of thing stacks up against an SMTV.

Basically this.

Is that SMT game an expansion ala 4G or a new game?
It's like Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Fallout: New Vegas, Final Fantasy XIII-2, or Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel where it's a full new game with all new content, but heavily based on the assets and setup of the previous title.

Historically those range from around 30% to 80% of what the last game did based on how much people wanted a game that is "more of the last game with some changes" as opposed to what you would expect out of the next numbered title. Mind, the degree and quality of changes can certainly vary with this type of product.

I could easily see viewing this as expected or disappointing depending on how optimistic you are about Atlus' sales potential these days.

I'd call SMT IV:F's debut mediocre-ok ,it's really not that bad for a sequel that reuses almost everything from the first game.

I wonder if it'll show some legs, the impressions are really good, word of mouth could influence things.

Wouldn't have described it better myself.

I remember someone in the other thread mentioning the game had pretty good reception, so that should translate in good sales in the following weeks, hopefully.

12./11. [3DS] Monster Strike <RPG> (Mixi) {2015.12.17} (¥4.500) - 7.477 / 795.122 (-5%)

This game is starting to show legs.

Isn't that just retailers slashing the prices? As opposed to "healthy" legs like Animal Crossing or Splatoon.

I'm impressed of Rainbow 6: Siege legs. Lifetime sales are already three times higher than first week. I guess that's good for The Division.

This is week 3 for DQB, right? I wonder if it'll start to stabilize or continue to drop.

No? It's an expansion turned sequel to SMTIV, not the next numbered game. Maybe underperforming a bit for some, but it looks like it'll meet the average of what people predicted. I doubt Atlus is disappointed with these numbers.

I really don't think its problem is using sprites.

Wouldn't have described it better myself.

I remember hearing in last thread that the stock sell through was actually good with those numbers. Hopefully they localize it this year, and not next year before it's too late (lol europe).

SMTIV: Final slightly disappointing but still a fine result for what it is. VC Remastered quite low - compared to other <200k games that received the remastering treatment on PS3, it didn't do good, and the demo didn't attract much customers.

PSV back to pre-momentum level. What is more surprising is Mario Tennis.

These 3DS sales don't show a lot of anticipation for the cheap 2DS model. It will likely have GBMicro impact.

First Week Comparisons:

01./00. [3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV # <RPG> (Atlus) {2013.05.23} (¥6.980) - 188.562 / NEW <80,14%>
01./00. [3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final <RPG> (Atlus) {2016.02.10} (¥6.480) - 96.349 / NEW

03./00. [PS2] Persona 3 (Atlus) - 116,682 / NEW
03./00. [PS2] Persona 3: Fes (Atlus) - 90,369 / NEW

SMT3 is too old and there are no MC charts I can find dating back to 2003 and Jan 2004, so no first week numbers.
