Megaman Legends 3 Why?

This year marks a decade after the first reveal of Megaman Legends 3 or Rockman DASH 3, the project was first pitched to have the same engine as Dead Rising and even the fans could join the process by adding new characters and stuff to the project.

But in 2010, Inafune left Capcom and one year after, the project was canned.

To this day, no words of an official reboot or re reveal exist, just dust.

Seeing that Inafune wanted to do his bootleg MML and Capcom has been experimenting with their franchises, do you think is time to get the legends back to life?

And if you do want a new MML what you want to add or change? I would love a cel like Lost Planet EX-Troopers!

In any case, pouring down one for Bonne, the OG

I hope you found a fucking skirt in heaven

I played MML for the first time a few years ago and it was so charming. Made me retroactive bummed about the MML3 cancellation fiasco.

Capcom had a complete demo they were planning to sell. One they could've made some cash on the side from and then cancel the project using lack of interest in the demo as a justification. They didn't release it, and created a lot of terrible PR they could've easily avoided.

Capcom's treatment of the Blue Bomber over the last several years, aside from greenlighting the absolutely stellar comic series (which was unfortunately also killed off by Archie Comics' general incompetence) has been absolutely baffling to me.

On Friday it will be 7 years since it was announced for the 3DS.

Capcom utterly jumped their own shark by not releasing the Prototype. And it's still impressive after all these years. I can't in good conscience support them as a publisher if they're continuing to screw over their developers and potential market.

Servbots > Minions

That's all I can say.
I'm assuming both mascots are based on Lego minifigs, but Servbots really are just the best. Minions just tick me off, though I get that kids like them (with lack of exposure to something better).

Anyway, I'm not counting on Red Ash (whenever that comes out, if ever) to satisfy my Legends itch. Halcyon Plume looks like an interesting throwback game channeling both Legends and Tail Concerto, but has a different play style entirely.

So true it hurts. I joined GAF not long after, too, and learned more about this wild ride of an industry. But at least I had Pilotwings and other games early on.

They don't even want to make real MegaMan games, let alone more bad offshoot spinoffs like legends or battle network.

"do you think is time to get the legends back to life?"
No. That series should stay dead, let the better series such as X/Zero/ZX (or even BN if no platformers) have another chance. Legends is garbage.

Nice try, Inafune.

Go and fail anotther KS

This hideous incident was the start of the death of megaman as a whole. I wonder if things would have changed if this game actually came out?

Sure wish Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 + Tron Bonne were available on the EU PS Store. The only game I have on disc is 2.

Legends wasn't garbage. Moreover, Legends 2 showed a lot of improvement in controls and design, even if players lost the detailed and easter egg-ridden big island to explore. And dungeons improved also, something that I thought Legends 3 would greatly expand in complexity and theme-ing. Not having a story about the Master System would have let the devs go wild with ideas for Legends 3 (who knows what the Elder System was supposed to be), and the Prototype looked fun for a pre-alpha release.

I've made peace with the series being dead. It's a franchise that has inspired me in so many ways, both artistically and as a person. I should be happy that barely two games and a spinoff were able to manage that. In the bigger picture however, my only hope for the Megaman franchise in general is for Capcom to sell off the IP. As Capcom flounders it seems more and more likely, however far off such an event may be.

lol it must hurt to know Legends has the superior story/characters/world/lore versus your other favorite precious Megaman subsets. Only way to explain such salt towards Legends. The lashing out is cute tho.

Inafune spearheaded all the Megaman projects and was the only higher up advocating for the projects they did greenlight. (Universe and Legends 3)

He then proceeds to leave the company shortly after both titles are revealed, and without a higher up to go to bat for the development team in meetings... well, not really a surprise they got cancelled if they experienced any development issues.

I don't think Legends 3 is going to happen just because it was only Inafune spearheading that initiative, and the actual team probably doesn't have the executive backing needed to get it done.

Capcom announcing a game before it was actually officially greenlit is probably the dumbest decision ever made by a company well known for making dumb decisions.

Ah yes, I was actually excited to play Legend 3 and even brought Legend 1, 2 and the misadventure of Tron Bonne.

Then Capcom gonna Capcom and cancelled the project while blaming the fans for its cancellation.

I bought a 3DS for this. It continues to collect dust as it was never used.

But the 3DS has tons of games, including 2 Dragon Quest remakes.

The worst part is it doesn't even live on in MvC anymore. I haven't played a ton of MvC2/3 but I loved playing Tron when I did.

The larger point I'd make is that Capcom should have cancelled Legends 3's greenlight pitch as soon as Inafooey left, not many months afterward when the Devroom and Prototype had gotten a decent following from press and fans.

And their refusal to let anyone other than just one or two Western journalists play the Prototype was even dumber, no matter what outdated internal protocol re: prototypes was in effect. The Legends 3 Prototype wasn't some mere proof of concept to fans and 3DS owners...Capcom should have realized they'd already set a precedent for this kind of release with earlier trial balloons for games like RE Mercenaries. Essentially, Capcom's handling of Legends 3 demonstrates why it's difficult to trust their management.

Tron Bonne legit used to be one of the my favorite characters at the time, but it's been so long I barely even remember why.
She's one of Capcom's best anti-hero characters, treading a fine line between ridiculousness and sincerity. And Servbots are the best mascots. Having your own game helps.

Worst girl won.
All because Japan voted largely in favor of it. Suetsugu's design was a lot more distinct while fitting the series, but Aero simply had that cookie-cutter appeal.

I just liked her as a character also Tsun as fuck lol

Also I keep on forgetting the weird humor in Legends, like Data telling you to peak at Roll changing or Tron getting her clothes blown off

This and Kid Icarus were the first things to make me want a 3DS. I liked the designs and following the development was fun, but then Capcpom happened... Real shame how everything turned out from that point.

Man, seeing MML3 get cancelled is a burn that still stings me today and continue to do for a long time. Following the dev site and seeing all the cool designs for the cast by fans was awesome.

If it were to be picked up again, I'd still like to see the side story with Barrett(?) and Aero that was going to be in that prologue demo. I also want to see some refinements to the gameplay to make it more action-y like more manual aiming while shooting, a good dodge, and a less-stiff jump. There also should be lots of ruins and other exciting places to go Digging in. Oh, and retaining the charm that the original two games had is important!

I'm about due for my bi-annual playthrough of the released Trilogy. Of them, Tron Bonne tends to be the highlight. It's just so replayable. Thank god they eventually made their way to PS3 rerelease at least.
