...on August 24th, the publisher will release Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Wii. Metroid Prime Trilogy, releasing almost to the day of Metroid Prime 3's two year anniversary, is a jammed to the brim package that combines all of Retro's first-person adventure games for the GameCube and Wii, on a single disc. And the two GameCube games – Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes -- have been reworked with full widescreen, 480p support and feature the same awesome Wii Remote/Nunchuk control that made Metroid Prime 3 Corruption so tight.

...North American gamers get all three for $49.99, an absolute bargain...

Wow, killer deal. I bought one, never played 2... bought 3 but barely played it. Probably should try and sell it while I can and then just buy this.. assuming 1-2 have Wii-enhanced controls.

Oh nice, hopefully more people buy it now (not that they did horrible, but still)...I'll definitely purchase again to try out the first two with Corruption's controls...

50 bucks? yes please. I for some reason sold everything from last gen and never played the second so its already worth it to me.

Still I'd recommend the definitive versions.
Umm won't these be the definitive versions? All three games on one disc and this:
have been reworked with full widescreen, 480p support and feature the same awesome Wii Remote/Nunchuk control that made Metroid Prime 3 Corruption so tight.

This is a fantastic way to get a fresh publicity push behind MP3, since god knows it deserves it, as well as getting an improved Prime 1 into new players' hands, since THAT deserves it too.

PLEASE?

Edit:
Along with the new control and display options, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes has also been given the same medal system that's already in Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. As you complete missions you'll be given medals specific to the task completed – each medal has a specific color, and you spend these tokens in the new front-end's option menu for unlockables. Each unlockable has a specific value: you can buy concept art, music, or special options like a screen grabbing utility so you can save screenshots to the internal storage and send them to friends. Some of the more coveted unlockables are far more expensive: we saw a few items that required three red, one blue, three yellow, two green, one orange, and two purple medals. You can also score medals by linking friends over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and earn friend vouchers.

Hell yes.

No Nintendo, something new please

Yeah, I heard EAD 1 and EAD Tokyo were pulled off of their projects to make this happen.

Seriously, is there anything Gaf won't complain about? NOA has redeemed themselves after everyone bitched that MP1 NPC didn't release here first. They've provided a much better and more gamer-friendly solution, and still we bitch.

THREE INCREDIBLE GAMES JUST GOT MORE AWESOME: METROID PRIME TRILOGY HEADS TO WII

All Three Critically Acclaimed Games Now Feature Motion Controls with Enhanced Presentation and In-Game Rewards

REDMOND, Wash., May 22, 2009 - Metroid™ Prime 3: Corruption set a new standard for first-person motion controls in video games. Now it's bringing those controls to the rest of the celebrated series, allowing players to experience the entire Metroid Prime story arc with the peerless precision of the Wii Remote™. Nintendo announces Metroid Prime Trilogy, a new premium three-game collection for the Wii™ console that bundles all three landmark Metroid Prime games onto one disc and revamps the first two installments with intuitive motion controls, wide-screen presentation and other enhancements. Metroid Prime Trilogy will be available exclusively for Wii on Aug. 24 at a suggested retail price of $49.99.

Each game maintains its original storyline and settings, but now Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes let players use their Wii Remote to aim with precision as heroine Samus Aran. Based on the breakthrough control system that debuted in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, these new Wii controls bring an entirely new level of immersion and freedom to these milestone games.

"Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love."

All three games now reside on a single disc. Players can access the game they want from a unified main menu that ties together all three adventures. Through a new unlockables system, players can gain access to in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games.

Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios and Nintendo, the same developers that created the original games for the Nintendo GameCube™ and Wii systems.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit Wii.com.

This could of been what Craig Harris saw the other day since he's reporting the news.
True. Didn't think of that. Well it's a pretty announcement, though. He didn't lie about it being nice.

To be fair, the poster of that comment appears to be a PS360 gamer.

Great package however I hope Nintendo don't leverage this at their E3 press conference as a shining example of their continued focus on core gamers. New games please Nintendo. This deal is really great and may force me to finally play a console Metroid game.

to bad I have beaten Prime 1 & 2 multiple times..if you haven't played these yet, I think its a great purchase. Not sure if enhanced controls really would make me want to replay these games..again.

Prime 4 would have been a much nicer surprise..

Awesome. I will be picking this up for sure, especially since I never got around to picking up Prime 3 yet.

Wonder if it will still allow you to use a GC controller in the first two, preferably completely seamless like RE4:WE did?

With the pointer controls, Metroid Prime 2 multiplayer might be worth playing this time around.

I have all three games in their original versions, so I don't know if I'll bite, but this is an incredible deal for anyone who did not play those gems yet.
