So 1.5m units sold during Q1 2010 (calendar). That's slightly down from last year (1.7m units) but still nice.

40 million is a nice score for a second attempt .

People who re-bought after a RROD constitute roughly 63% of those sales. There, I said it. Now, can the people who actually believe this stuff kindly drive into oncoming traffic?

That's Loads!

It's had it's issues, RRoD, no built in WiFi etc. but man it's been my fave system ever thanks to the catalog, controller and most of all Xbox Live.

Who would of thought a decade ago that Microsoft would become synonymous with HD console gaming in NA?

That'll do pig. That'll do.

Woah, PS3 doesn't have Q3 yet and still over a million more than the 360. Be interesting to see the difference when Sony announce their Q3.

Congrats on the 40 million Microsoft.

1.5 not too bad. 40.2 million not bad at all. $165 million net for the quarter as well. Also they should easily pass 50 million early on next year with a slim/price cut/natal rolling thunder and all.

And it's looking like they may pull in a billion in net profit for the division this fiscal year which would be amazing. This says more than anything though really. What a turn around in this division.

I guess this means that maybe Microsoft isn't going 3rd party or leaving the gaming business after all.

everyone i know including myself had to replace their xbox 360. So the installed user base i would guess is at about half that.

Congrats on the 40 million Microsoft.
Yeah Japan is saving the PS3 right now saleswise. Glad to see all the console makers doing well.

Great accomplishment for Microsoft but still failed greatly short of pulling for PS2 numbers which I believe Microsoft was aiming for.

With prevalance of broken 360s I wonder how many of those sold were replacements?

Any over/under on the possibility that the PS3 will outsell the 360 ?

Hard to say. I might be wrong, but hasn't PS3 been up considerably in the last few months compared to last year, but still behind Microsoft because of these supposed hardware issues? 360 performed admirably last month.

Sony should report sales between 2.2 and 2.5 million units for the same period (full numbers and forecast for the next FY will be announced on May 14).
That would put 360 and PS3 at about 40m versus 36m worldwide.

I don't think anyone would have called Ps3 and 360 pulling that close to each other a couple years ago.

I don't think anyone would believe the 360 would even be ahead of the PS3 five years ago.

Yeah no. Never in a million years would I have seen this, or the popularity of the Wii, coming. This generation has been crazy.

Behind in US, ahead around the world. FFXIII bump in Japan to factor in.
