Interesting thing with Amazon is that they show their top sellers, and in the UK in the past hour
Xbox Series X was 12th
Xbox Series S was 25th
PS5 was 56th

Seems that at least in the UK XSX is overselling XSS quite a lot.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Selle...videogames/ref=zg_bs_pg_1?_encoding=UTF8&pg=1

In the USA;

PS5 is 6th

No Xbox consoles in the top 100

https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Video-Games/zgbs/videogames

Obviously because XSX is out of stock in Amazon US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H75RTZ8/?tag=neogaf0e-20

And XSS there are only 2 units left.
PS5 is invite only. You can't really buy it right now

Is it? Because when I look at it the system they show is still the link to the same used warehouse deal as yesterday and all of the other listings are still third party listings. Maybe it sold out already.
Still showing for me.

If it's still not showing, try "New & Used (57) from" and scroll down to see if it's in that list.
I have Prime if that makes any difference.

I'm surprised the Series console are tracking so far ahead of the 360, especially with the shortages.

Xbox haven't really been able to leverage Game Pass with their exclusives yet aside from FH5 and Halo, which did really well, so I don't see hardware sales slowing down anytime soon.

By the time that happens MS will own Activision and Bethesda will be releasing GOTG candidates exclusively for Xbox. Not to mention Xbox's other studios will finally be releasing heavy hitters.

Sony missed their chance to gain a big lead over Xbox at the start of the gen, now it's too late. It's going to be a very competitive generation.
You will Tell me that tale in the fall of 2023, when Spider-man 2 hits the shelves and the Ps5 is no longer experiencing supply issues.

xbox does seem to be more or less in stock in the UK now, which is great news.

Maybe the demand for the Series X has started to wain more like it would for any console in summer...Let's see how it does at Xmas.

PS5 still seems to be hard to get hold of and demand is no where near as filled. PS5 will probably pull away in the UK now if Sony can keep up on stock.

Yes, because Xbox will have it's own exclusives just as big if not bigger than any Sony game... Starfield alone is going to sell buttloads and sell consoles for years to come. Series S continuing to be $200 less than PS5 and potentially dropping even lower will continue to be a massive system seller.

It's okay though, Sony will be okay and the PS5 will continue to sell well, so there's no need to delude yourself. This gen will look much closer to the 360/PS3 gen than the Xbox One/PS4 gen.

Weird. I wonder if there's a location component to it. Maybe they don't ship to where I am.

What does that have to do with anything lol.

You guys are acting like Sony is so terrified of game pass that they put a "must not come to game pass" requirement in any contract lol.

I doubt Sony gives a fuck about Microsoft having a game on game pass day one when there's three times as many PlayStation users.

Great. A thread about someone from Era stating some shit without facts.

Congrats on your way to earn an argument i guess.

Edit: you can't seriously expect me to read a wall of text instead of pointing out what you want to tell me.

They lose too much profit.

I remember that song about elder scrolls 6 and star field being exclusive.

Yet here we are, exclusive titles.

He failed to read the OP and thought Sony was confirmed to be keeping CoD off Game Pass. 😂

Then he rushed to respond to your old posts and prove he "was right and you were wrong." That's why you were confused in what he was trying to convey and asked him to point it out.

Talk about a backfire. 🥴

It could be a case of people giving up looking for PS5s and finding Xbox Series consoles in stock. Sounds like fanboy wishful thinking because it probably is. There hasn’t been steady releases of Sony first party exclusives either. I love Horizon Foridden West, There’s a lot of anticipation for god of war.

I mean, if you make a solid console, it’s going to sell, especially if the price is right. The Series X goes a long way in helping me forget how completely shit the Xbox one and one X were. It’s the same thing Sony pulled off with PS4

The excuses are delectable 😂
Series are consoles are outperforming the Xbox one's dog days and it's not going to slow down. Playstation can still be your favorite console without completely decimating Xbox.

Doesn't mean that no one wants a PS5; competition is good for the industry. Leave the echo chamber and enjoy Video Games

If you don't want to scroll through that post and read the important parts in bold that's on you. But it's basically quote's from MS and Sony proving I'm right. The only person looking through biased spectacles here is you. Sony clearly wouldn't allow a game they spend hundreds of millions to me market go to a rival subscription service Day 1. That would be a massive fail and own goal in the terms of business. You clearly have no idea how business works.

Can you bring any arguments as to why, or do we just promote ourselves as the right person?

And how are Sony going to prevent that?

Bribe Microsoft?
Ryan trying to get elected as president in the US so he can make a common law against game pass?

You are probably referring to the marketing deal Sony has,but you forget one thing.

The deal is not a lifetime deal. It will expire.

But I give you credit for having balls to say other people doesn't understand economy while you don't yourself.

Maybe thats the problem?

This is pure bullshit. There is literally not a single game that runs on X that is not in S. Its just a lower spec version.
Series S and X have similar CPU performance, hence game world simulation scale would be similar while viewport render is the GPU's job.

I never said it wouldn't expire and when the term's are met and the date is reached MS Will put it on GP. That could be 6 month's, 1 year, 2 year's etc. But it sure as hell ain't coming day 1. That's terrible business but luckily for Sony they ain't run by idiots.

When the deal with Sony expires then I'm still pretty sure that Microsoft puts it on on day one.

This always seems funny to me how some believe there are people out there who want certain games that are only accessible buying a PS5, but will give up and buy a console that doesn't have those games on it because the PS5 is out of stock.

It's like someone wanting a Series X for Halo and Starfield, and they buy a Switch with 1-2 waggle because they couldn't find any Series X stock. Doesn't make sense lol.

It's like I said, I didn't want that to come off like some sort of fanboy statement. Availability is an issue. If you want to get a PS5, you're not going to get an Xbox because that's what sitting on the shelf right now. If you do, you're probably in the market for both consoles and it doesn't matter which one you pick up first.

I am very surprised that availability is still so poor. I had both consoles at launch, but I've looking for them in stores just out of curiosity. I've only seen one Series X and no PS5s.

Day 1 of the deal expiring won't be considered Day 1 buddy.
Pretty sure we are talking about future releases after the marketing deal expires not after the acquisition closes. Just like Deathloop didn't hit Xbox or Gamepass PC after the Bethesda acquisition closed.

I agree but I can see a parent or grand parent buying what's available after showing up to a store not seeing what was asked for. This is why the XSS is attractive because it's in impulse buy territory.

What's likely happening is that Sony and Microsoft are being extremely conservative with the number of units being ordered for additional production. The last thing any company wants in a recession with record inflation is to have a glut of inventory sitting in a warehouse that can't be sold through because demand has been met or reduced by prevailing conditions. It's much better to have persistent shortages that leave demand unmet so money isn't wasted on manufacturing units that won't be sold.

And nothing is more disappointing than getting the wrong damn console for your birthday.

Of course. That is obvious.

As far as the lifecycle goes, the Series S is “next gen” because that’s the marketing moniker put on this generation of consoles whether you agree with it or not.

Sure from a tech perspective that can be argued with possibly some validity, but that’s not what this specific thread is about.
Nothing officially defines a generation other than market competition. There is no Bible or no definition employed by an industry body like the ESA to define a generation. Generations started with Wikipedia seeking to define how the many different consoles between the 70s, 80s and 90s fit together and differed. The vast majority of the time this was set by competitors, there's no way the Gameboy had equivalent hardware to the game gear but it sure competed directly with it. Same thing with the DS and PSP.

Defining a console generation by the power of it's hardware is meaningless. That and the Series S has all the hardware necessary to run current gen games(CPU, SSD). Something like the Switch though could never run Flight Sim or Ratchet and Clank.

$500 is also not usually the price parents but consoles for kids, so there's definitely a limit to how many of those would pick up a console in stock over another one, the millions of sales at this point have to be people, even casuals, with some basic knowledge of what they are buying. Or the kid themselves is giving their preference.

I don't buy that millions of Series S sales are because the PS5 wasn't in stock, it's just a capable consoles at an affordable price, a price consoles used to sell at.

LOL, what?

Nearly all generations of home consoles were defined exactly in this manner, with Nintendo just being behind the curve power-wise the last few.
Also. Switch could run Flight Sim and R&C, they would just be severely downgraded. What are you even saying here?

In the bit era this made more sense, but now generations are arbitrary.

I'm glad MS has increased their number of studios. It will ensure that there is plenty of new content for their platform. I appreciate they won't be increasing the price of their games and systems as well.
Yeah i certainly prefer Microsofts broader moves, quick resume and gamepass, But I also really like sonys games like ratchet, uncharted ps5 remaster, TLOU2 and returnal.

The dual sense is also something new and fun.

But with me its ebbs and flows, I play one console a lot, then complete the games and move on when games come out for the other console.

What's funny about Mario 64 as a showcase game is that on a technical level in was incredibly basic other than the polygon resolution, and was made up of flat shaded simple polygons, the exact type of game the Jaguar was mocked for, forcing them to make Devs try to add features the console couldn't handle to their 3D games. The sucking up by the press was embarrassing at the time. Any time there were other big 3D games next to Mario 64 most of the audience that weren't the press or fans would always huddle more around those games for the graphics.

But yes they were still leaps above what was previous, since the Fairchild each console generation was defined by the power it showed, and that continued until today. Only thing about Generations is earlier ones have had the consoles switched around as to what qualifies as what, but regardless power was the game.

Fairchild solitaire with accurate card images was favorably compared to Atari combat until it got better games. Where they showed off Asteroids and other fun games.

Mattel added more depth and animation to games and more colors.

Coleco Added more of everything and focused on big sprites and expansions and all the colors and objects on screen.

7800 added parallax, rotation, and mass number of resizable sprites, while NES introduced higher color count, and SMS showed off big colorful sprites.

Genesis introduced speed and more detailed graphics, SNES had mode 7 to give the illusion of 3D and allowed devs to experiment adding to cartridges.

3DO introduced the 3D that would become standard, Sony and Sega induced 3D games with better effects and texture mapping and higher frame rates, Dreamcast was literally the arcade machine, PS2 had the emotion engine nonsense, Gamecube had flipper, Xbox had the shaders, lighting, and the custom Pentium and could display in HD.

360 came out hard with HD and new graphical breakthrough with Gears of War, while PS3 introduced high quality video playback disguised as cutscenes without compression.

Xbox One introduce Full HD with several enemies on screen, while PS4 introduced more consistent 1080P with marginally more stable frame rates, with Ryse and Killzone Shadow fall being the showcase games.

Now we have MS Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon 5, Ratchet and Clank, and soon, Starfield, Forza reboot, GoW Rag.

Nothing has changed.

I think things will change next year.

What has sony got next year?, PSVR2 will come but it requires new hardware and the games wont be that big budget.

Ms has forza, starfield, redfall and possible others.

As long as Microsoft dont fuck things up I would not be surprised from 2023 onwards Xbox has more exclusives.

hoping that series x takes the crown this gen.
It's basically impossible with how dominant the Playstation is in Europe and Asia. They also are outselling the Xbox in North America in total sales.

Microsoft had a chance after the success of the 360 but Don Mattrick screwed that up (I don't give him credit for the 360's success, Peter Moore laid the foundation).
