I think MS knows exactly that GamePass helps destroying game sales and perceived game value, but they think that this will kill their competitors but not them (thanks to their other almost infinite sources of income / monopoly hold in other markets). The lunch is then over in their mind at that point as they can start cranking prices up and up as competition has disappeared. The hope is that they are incompetent at it, money does not buy always everything… one hopes…

Not sure your point. Playstation winning against Xbox doesn't mean Microsoft its not trying to spend Sony out of business. Microsoft have all the money to do all the types of dirty tricks against any company. Buying huge IPs is an example of this.
