What does it has to do with Family Guy?
The guy didn’t advocate the eradication of anime from the fact of the earth (I advocate it through my “fuck this Bambi shit” terrorist organization, but that’s a different story) nor did he call for introducing Family Guy style art to this game.
It’s just a weird and extremely unoriginal choice (and yes, this is way more derivative than “hurr hurr blad space marines).
But it doesn’t mean the game would be great, it certainly looks interesting to me.

The poster in question was trolling a bit with he/her comments and I was just having some fun no harm intended. :lol

I'm interested, but it does look a little cutesy. As mentioned, the bears do look like teddy-bears.
For inspiration, I would like my bears to look something like this.

Or more realistic, that's ok too.
Depending on how it's received, I think I'll buy this if reasonably priced.

I was a huge fan Might and Magic in the 90's, but that series has been dead for almost a decade, ever since Jon Van Caneghem stepped down as designer after M&M8. Every Might and Magic game after that point has been a spin-off (other than M&M9 which is best forgotten), so I don't see the big deal in lending the name to this game. Even if the art style is different than what was seen in past Might and Magic titles.

With that said, I really like what I see here. As a fan of puzzle/strategy/rpg hybrids, a former Might and Magic fan, and a supporter of small development teams, I will be sure to pick this up when it launches. If the game ends up playing as well as it looks, I'll also add Capybara to my list of dev teams to watch.

This is neither Might & Magic or Heroes of Might & Magic, but I love strategy games, so I'll be sure to pick it up.

I do have one question, as it relates to puzzle quest. How is this game with tutorials, specifically in teaching you how to actually play the game? The Puzzle Quest games, especially the most recent Puzzle Kingdoms, are pretty low budget affairs, and their biggest failing is clunky interface and virtually useless tutorials. It makes it frustrating and unplayable for anyone less dedicated than the type of people who post on this board.

We're pretty sure our tutorial battles will teach you everything you need to know. You get them in game, and then you can access them from the main menu as well (just in case you skipped it, or want to see it again).

Really though, once you get the basics down, which takes a very short time, you'll have no problem catching the more advanced tactics as you get more experienced with the battle system.

Cromulent_Word, thanks for giving us all the info. The game certainly looks interesting, I most likely will be picking it up.

What you (or I should say Capybara as a company) needs to do is convince Ubisoft to allow you to make another M&M in the same vein of M&M VI-VIII (forget godawful IX). Those games were the true epitome of the series, at least for me.

Clash of Heroes is honestly far more of an original intellectual property than a Might & Magic game at all. In fact, the further I play the game the more convinced I am that this was not only the right way to go on DS (a new direction, that is) but one hell of a reimagining of what could now be a full-on series. It's good. It's very good.

The preview contains an explanation of the battle system to accompany the videos. It's looking good!

Pushing this game back to 2010 is probably the best thing that could have happened to it. There's already too many games coming out this holiday season and it totally would have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Hey folks... anyone interested in Capy's DS game will be interested in knowing that the game hits North America DECEMBER 1ST. Yes, that's next week!

Reviews have been super positive so far, and despite the fact that it's flying under a lot of peoples radars, i hope my fellow GAF'ers will give it a shot.

Here's a link to an interview I just did with Bozon from IGN: http://ds.ign.com/articles/104/1048549p1.html

If you have questions... just ask!

Note: Euro will see it very early 2010.

While I like the looks of this and will buy it even if I don't (I bought Might and Magic IX after all), I've got to say...

Is it too much to ask to get a traditional Might and Magic game? Crusaders, Dark Messiah, Warriors... hell, though my love knows no bounds for the Heroes series, it would be real nice to play something that's not a spinoff.

And I know that the series' continuity is loose at best (considering any reference at all to Xeen in post-Darkside MM was a rarity and IX ditched Enroth entirely), the weird, funky fusion of science fiction and high fantasy and D&D-lite mechanics (stats, dice rolls, class upgrades and such remaining constants across the entire series until IX) held the series together pretty well (again, until IX... notice a pattern?) and it would be nice to see a game in the same vein.

Please?

EDIT: Loose ties to HOMM5 don't count either. >.>

Finally. I've been looking forward to get this game. I just hope we get it promptly in this side of the world.

I also echo Fugu's sentiments. Would you happen to have any information regarding possible new releases for the M&M and HOMM series?

Only thing that will stop me from buying it, is if it's touchscreen controls only, otherwise, Day 1.

So much stuff went wrong with IX (No Jon Van Canegham, 3DO deadline leading to rushed product, understaffed and overworked dev, lead dev considers final product "pre-alpha" status) i wouldnt be surprised if the main M&M series wont show up for another decade.

No argument here. But personally I felt the series peaked at VIII (yes, I'm one of those) so I'm not ready to discount the whole franchise.

According to someone LinkedIn profile, Ubisoft Shangai is working on HoMM VI.

Just waiting for Amazon to ship my copy. Especially looking forward to it as this will be my first ever Puzzler (S)RPG since I pretty well missed out on the whole PuzzleQuest advent.

I was completely hooked on Puzzle Quest. This looks incredibly more polished, will it devour my soul as well?

I always try to read about all new rpg games, but somehow, I did not know about this one. I really, really like the look of it. Seems very manga inspired, but not over the top. They got great artists :) I am also a fan of the spritework.

Got this and Fighting Fantasy on order via GS.com. Just waiting for the one to officially release before both hit!

This game looks hot... someone create an official topic.

Sounds like we have a volunteer! Send a PM to Cromulent, I'm sure he'll hook you up with official assets and whatnot!

Oddly enough Van Canegham has popped up again and is now running the C&C franchise for EA. Odd.

Indeed I will.

We went to the local EB today and everyone (as in, the whole studio) watched as Capy's first ever boxed retail game was purchased. It was an amazing feeling.

Really hope people enjoy it.

Well, speak of the devil...

Anywho, I'm awaiting for my copy to ship to me. Once I get it and put some hours into it (later this week I imagine), I'll be happy to whip up an OP, assuming no one else gets to it.

Congrats to you and the rest of the team. :)
It'll be nice to play a decent Might & Magic game again, even if it's not what anyone would have expected a few months ago.

Ordered it today from Amazon, and was delighted to find that I had two $10 off order incentives stored up!

I have Prime, so I guess I'll be playing on Thursday.
