Maybe some young pups are getting scared about not seeing the money later, so they're taking what they can get now.

But if he believes in himself at all, he just robbed himself.

He could be league average until he reaches FA and have made that easily. You're right, unless he has plans of being terrible and out of the majors 2-3 years from now, he robbed himself.

Maybe the Braves have employed a hypnotist or some sort of subliminal messaging specialist. The new Moneyball. :p

Edit: My pitching went in the toilet this week, but my offense is flexing.

Alonso. Sweet jesus.

9th hardest hit HR of the statcast era, and #1 among batters not named Judge or Stanton.

Lot of people questioning why we didn’t sign DJ back considering he’s not really getting THAT much from the Yankees and he’s off to a pretty hot start with NY. Of course hindsight is 20/20 and in fairness the organization has high hopes for youngsters Ryan McMahon and Garrett Hampson.

Just a lot of panic all around in Rockies Country right now. Another shutout loss

In all fairness the only thing that has been good for the Giants this season has been the pitching. Just our offense is dogshit terrible.

When Kevin Pillar is making up the majority of your teams offense you know there's a problem

If the Red Sox we’re running away with it than yeah.

Is anyone believing the Rays will tho

I am. Last season was no fluke and they've got sleeper pitching and sleeper hitting. I felt they would challenge NY/BOS for the East anyway, but with the injuries and Boston's current level it almost looks Tampa has it in the bag

It seems over the first two weeks of baseball there's been a noticeable influx in throwing errors, defensive miscues, fielders not communicating properly, baserunning blunders etc... I watch all the game highlights pretty much everyday and it seems there are multiple instances on a daily basis whereas before it was maybe 1 or 2 everyday.

I'm wondering if this is a product of calling players up too early. The game is getting younger with players making their debuts in their early 20s as opposed to their mid 20s with less seasoning in the minors. I think basic fundamentals aren't being instilled in the rookies and its costing teams easy runs/easy outs. Or maybe all this unorthodox shifting has players uncertain of where they should be positioned/who gets what ball etc...

Any opinions on this phenomenon or am I full of bull cookies? Baseball always has been a reactionary sport and maybe it will swing back with a focus on defense in a few years.

Yeah, the Rays are legit.

Yeah, I'm not sure. It could be just a relatively small sample, but the shifting issue certainly could be having an effect, as you mentioned.

As a side note on fundamentals. If I were a manager, there would be no shifts against my squad because every f*cker on the team would learn to bunt and bunt well. We'd take all the free bases they are willing to give away until they shifted back out of it. I don't care if you're a 50 homer guy or not. (of course, it may depend on the situation)

I'm starting to see guys lay down bunts more, rightfully so. If I was a pull hitter and I started getting shifted last season, I would have spent all offseason practicing bunts and going the other way. If they give you an entire side of the infield you better take advantage of it.

Hell they've been shifting Joey Votto and he's been slapping it the other way. Good hitters aren't going to let you get away with shifting.

The problem for the power left handed batters is that teams shift because either A) they can’t consistently hit to left or B) they don’t mind walking him/ giving him first base

So in order for a Harper or Soto to beat the shift and make teams reconsider shifting, they have to first hit to left and make it to 2nd consistently.

Well I wanted to wait until the last minute to get tickets to the Giants vs Jays on Tuesday so I could possibly get them cheap off a scalper but there are rumblings of Vladdy being called up. Just got tickets for Tuesday along with the Wednesday game. Would be pretty cool if I get to see him make his MLB debut.

That’s pretty exciting

8 of my players are on the DL. My time will come. I was happy that my Twins players crushed it on that double header. Cruz had 2 HR and like 7 rbi and 5 hits in one day. I need a closing pitcher or someone who can give me saves.

I've just had shit luck thus far with fantasy. Hasn't helped that Stanton and Andujar have missed pretty much the whole season. Each week has been close though and I usually only lose a category by a slim margin. But been happy I've managed to stay somewhat in the race by getting lucky with some pickups

Does anyone here play beat the streak? I don't know about the rest of you, but with the rise in strikeouts and shifts I barely get a streak to 10 these days. I used to be able to have streaks close to 20 on a regular basis, now 8 in a row seems impossible. Manfred plz fix

Just got back from the game. Met a lot of cool Giants fans from out of town. Panik, Longoria, Pablo and Belt all went deep. Can't remember the last time this team hit that many dingers in a game. Watson gave up a grand slam but they still held on for a 7-6 win. Great game, stoked for round 2 tomorrow
It’s an amazing sight isn’t it.

We cry about guys chasing home runs. But who doesn’t want to get big dick hits lol.

Shockingly in the second they tagged Thornton for 3 runs with 2 outs and nobody on. Just singles and doubles. Actual situational hitting from the Giants today. What a sight to behold
