This is HUGE. N64 emulation is finally taking a giant step forward!

This fixes a lot of problems in games... Here's a few screenshots of Ogre Battle 64, Pokemon Stadium 2, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Mario Tennis.

However, the biggest thing here...

THE JIGSAW PUZZLE EFFECT IN BANJO GAMES FINALLY WORKS AS INTENDED! (.webm)

Does it get rid of the yellow outlines on some stuff in Mischief Makers?

With all due regards, these screenshots are meaningless without earlier ones (unless you already emulated these games).

If this fixes the speed in Mario kart then I'm hyped
(More than I already am)
.

Though not holding my breath because even Nintendo can't get it to work properly in VC.

The pause screen in Conker's Bad Fur Day was a noisy mess, if I remember correctly... So pretty cool they managed to fix that!

Accurate emulation has always intrigued me. There was an article of somesort about Bsnes and all the things it did right where other SNES emulators failed... It really
made me admire the effort some programmers put into their work.

Edit: bah, beaten, that's what I get for typing on a tablet.

I think this bit is important too:

Now I am switching to Android port. I already started that work. I am working with Mupen64Plus AE team.I am ready to contact with other projects dedicated to N64 emulation on mobile devices.

Pual (Mupen64 AE dev) has done a noble job in supporting the open-source N64 port, unlike other devs who only use his work and don't contribute back to the community ¬¬. Super exited tho, great news.

Don't we have fast enough CPUs for emulating the N64 GPU in software?

I'm hoping that with DX12 and advancements in GPU compute we may be able to write better emulators for consoles from the N64 onwards.

Power isn't the only difficulty, its accuracy. GPU and CPU excel in different aspects of computing.

What about Ocarina of Time, I remember years ago that there were graphical errors with the item selection screen.

I've been waiting for this since this was on Indiegogo. I almost have all my ducks in a row too. I have a Retrode, but I am waiting on the rerelease of the N64 plugin. I have GoldenEye and Perfect Dark carts ready, but my next cart purchases are going to be Banjo Kazooie and Tooie.

I am glad in this day and age of Dolphin and newer gen emulators that someone's doing good work on N64 emulation.

N64 graphics chip is not much like a modern GPU though. It's completely different, in fact. Not sure about the details, but the effects in more interesting games seem to not be implemented in a way that emulator could easily guess how to parallelize.

I think the question that we all want to really know is...

CAN IT PLAY ROGUE SQUADRON???

There's a PC version of the game on GOG, which probably runs better on weaker computers than would be needed to emulate the N64 version perfectly. (I haven't bought it myself yet, but I've been meaning to).

... but what about Star Wars Episode 1: Podracer? The PC version of that isn't on digital stores to my knowledge yet, and I seem to remember something being messed up with the sound in the existing emulation (music wouldn't play until the final lap and the "intense" music would kick in).

Does this mean Tooie's JiggyWiggy challenges can be done?

I can't say for sure, but since the jiggies are finally working properly, I'd say probably

Podracer seems to work properly now, right down to the UI finally being rendered properly and centered.

No ahead-of-its-time N64 anti-aliasing? NO SALE!

Seriously, good work to whomever put the time into making this

That's really cool. I wonder if Paper Mario will run accurately now.

Great, even more reason not to support the Virtual Console. It will be fun to play Mario Tennis online.

Dumb question, but what emulator works best with Gliden64 for online play?

I'd love to experience some Mario Tennis and Party online with friends.

I use Project64 2.1 with Jabo's Direct 3D8 1.7.057-ver5 (graphics plugin) and AZQ NetPlay v0.20 (input plugin) for everything.
