Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord |OT| Gather your tatttered banners, after 8 years it's here!

Wonder if multiplayer will still have roaming mobs of butt naked guys wielding the most expensive 2-handers and zerg rushing and oneshotting everyone on the map? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

The good ol days!

I remember this just playing it last month. Absolute gangsters. But I don't see that happening this time round because of the new equipment/class system. Don't think you can unequip clothes at all, most basic is a "farmer".

I probably won't be buying this for a while but by god I can't believe this day finally came.

Can't find a 4gb variant of the 940MX anywhere - either way I don't think it'll make much difference. That GPU definitely isn't going to run Bannerlord. Sorry to be the bearer of shit news.

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/15-gaming-laptops/ - time to get hunting. The £700 one will probably be ok for M&B2 but not much else. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/proteusVII-15/ with 1tb SSD and 16GB RAM will do a job for you for a good long time but will cost money.
Thanks mate. I will see what I can do.

Character creation seems decent enough, though more haircuts and colours required. Sadly did the tutorial then went to the nearest village and had my system lock up when speaking to the headsman (had to hard reboot the PC...) . Still , will give it more of a go tomorrow.

Game is pretty gud. Been playing it with my friends and had a good time. Good to get away from having to play FPS as a group because the game is pretty retard proof but with skill depth in the right places. Should be playing it for a long time.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
I've been playing M&B since its early pre-Steam betas. This feels as it looks, a Warband patch, much like that felt like an M&B patch. It'll stay in my library as the latest version of a still unique (sans the ~dozen of spin offs) game, not some amazing sequel. It's been the same game since ~2004.

This is Mount and Blade alright. Maybe too familiar for the long wait, but I don’t mind.

Started a campaign, did the first set of quests, joined a faction as a mercenary, participated in siege assaults, and crushed some solid opposition (three lords ransomed). Have some decent lamellar armor now, four companions, 50 army size, and most of the way to the 150 renown requirement for that tier 2 thing that enables vassalage.

I’ve wanted this thing ever since I watched one of ReformistTM’s videos when I was in like middle school and he said that the sequel should be coming in about a year after he posted that episode. 8 years and I waited with baited breath and finally gave up on it. Now it’s finally here. And in a time where I can actually play it!

Is it bad that I eagerly set aside Red Dead 2 and Doom for this? And I dont even touch the campaign really, I just fuck about in multiplayer!
Im ready to waste another couple hundred hours into this over the years to come.

It looks like sieges are as wonky as they were back in ~2004 too, yet every new release has hyped fixes.

I'll be waiting another year, at least, before playing this.
I'm sure it'll be good, eventually, but right now it just seems too unfinished - and I assume it will stay that way even a while after they leave early access.

Lol, it needs some work still I see. I'll wait till release I think, because the campaign is what I liked to play. It's made me reinstall Warband though.

Man... I gotta say, I was expecting *WAY* more polish and evolved mechanics/systems after how long this has been in development and some of the previews I saw years ago.

I just went ahead and refunded my purchase. It feels almost exactly how I remember Mount & Blade Warband playing (possibly a bad case of rose colored glasses), and I don't need to be spending $45 on that right now when I can just go play Warband. I'll check it out again once they're out of Early Access, but I have to wonder just what the hell they've been doing these last ten years.

Haven't had as much time to dig into this as I was hoping - my new GTX 1660 Super turned up for my desktop VR rig so I've been heavily into iRacing and Dirt Rally 2. Sounds like people are a little disappointed. Tbh I'd not worry too much - the example that springs to my mind is Parkitect. It looked right up my alley in screenshots but when running it was really heavily lacking in polish in ways that negatively affected gameplay so I put it down for a while - but in the last few months of early access they went in and did so much to improve it that it's like night and day. Getting the basic mechanics in is the first step, but that polish, that packaging of the content and tuning all the gameplay elements to make sure they work, getting that elusive and indescribable feel just right, that's something that happens in the final polishing phase and makes the difference between a good and bad game.

There’s really very little that differentiates this from Warband. Same old issues on all fronts, too.

That sounds both great and terrible. I kind of figured it was going to be a dud with the crazy long development hell it was in. It will still be good, as Warband is such an amazing game (my favorite game of all time), but is a bummer that it couldn't be better.

I didn't expect much more than a tech update, larger armies and nicer graphics. M&B was always a bit rough around the edges, didn't expect that to suddenly change here.

Just a quick note if anyone's on a laptop and suddenly gets shit performance - the recent patch made it use my intel graphics instead of the 1070 on my laptop and it ran like shite. Thankfully there's an option in the options menu that takes care of this.

EDIT: Fucking hell my laptop runs hot on this - worse than RDR2.

The game is great but damn I've played it to the death over the past week. Multiplayer I mean. If I would take any issue it's how the developers have complete control over the experience at the moment so we're stuck playing the same few maps, as very well made as they are, which are getting kind of stale. But my biggest peev and I'm even seeing it crop up in chat now is the random factions for every game.

It's pretty clear that certain factions are just outright better than others because of particular units, the costs of certain units, and the lack of certain types within certain factions. For example Sturgia are hell to play sometimes because they pretty much have no archers (they have 1 which is slow and does maybe 30 damage per arrow), while the Celtic faction has an archer specialist that can dish out 75 damage in 1 arrow with accuracy.

Empire is the best faction because the Corsair is 130 gold and can one shot from horseback with the long spear. It shreds entire armies if you have even 3 of them spawn killing in Siege. I think the game is naturally balanced around the 6v6 mode though.

next patch to introduce "sandbox kingdom creation"

Seems pretty cool.

Other major highlights of the upcoming patch include rebalancing of the calculations in the auto-battle system and fixing some major bugs with chairs in the Khuzait culture’s keeps.

I hate to say it but I must wait for a M&B 2: Console Normie Edition: All Features Added and 80% Of Bugs Ironed Out. I'm pretty far into Kingdom Come Deliverance and I'm feeling nostalgic for my favorite zany medieval slave-and-linen trading simulator.

I'd miss the wealth of mods, though. Seems like they got the skeleton right and are now adding the organs and flesh, just like they did with the original game. I won't hold it agains them. Even a big company like Blizzard launched WoW Classic with insufficient servers again.
