Disclaimer : , Excuse my English , im Italian OLD Gamers :)
I love gaming ... i love RETROGAMING ..
I chose Intel Bay Trail because I want a flexible machine that allows me each change quickly, and I wanted the maximum emulation, with the Raspberry romset is old and very CPS 2 games go to 30 FPS.
Intel Baytrail is ROCK !!!
I do not understand why aspberry it is overvalued and baytrail is underestimated , This is definitely the work of community Raspberry where my compliments, but in reality the product is not yet ready to offer what REALLY offers the Intel counterpart .

This is Diary of my Dream . (Original Italian Thread)

Alright, that is just all sorts of hotness. Well done with the entirety of this. I can achieve the initial portion...

But the cabinet is a completely different task, I feel; which would be my major reason for doing such a project...

Awesome. How difficult to build if you're a klutz?

Does anyone do these for sale prebuilt? with all the tat on the likes of Etsy someone should do something like this.

Nice! I did the same with a raspberry pi 2 - laser it the cabinet though:

QUOTE]

With Intel Baytrail I have the same energy consumption of Raspberry .
Baytrail is on Mini PC, Intel Stick and many many Micro hardware like raspberry .

With Windows 10 I can use the latest roms Mame , and work AMAZING 60 FPS ROCK .
With WIndows Snes Emulator (Link on top) WORK ALL ROM , all roms .
Among the various sellers Chinese, the mini PC or Intel Stick we find them at a price of a Raspberry Kit .
This is the reason that prompted me to choose Intel + Windows .

I Can use Steam Games, Free PC Games, Old DOs Games (see launcbox launchbox-app.com )

Only one "problem" with Encoder if you want play windows game,
Encoder is not Xinput , but this is a nice tips to play http://www.x360ce.com

Once you download a game from the Windos 10 Store , they will not have executable folder and then to link this game to our front end we have to use some tricks.

Go to Start-> pin the game on the bar Of Applications -> go on the taskbar -> Press Shift + Right on the icon Play button and so you will create a shortcut on the Desktop.

Open LaunchBox (desktop , not bigbox)
go to a blank spot on the list -> right click and do + ADD

And WORK !!! :)

In LaunchBox you can Play all PC Game , Steam Game inclused :)

I Love Free Game Castill maldita :)

I chose bubble bobble for two simple reasons.

1) I Love Bubble Bobble.
2) I wanted to do a tribute to MTJ , AKA : Fukio Mitsuji Bubble Bobble's creatorto have died on December 11, 2008.

Bubble Bobble was the first Cooperative game I ever played. I'm pretty sure it's what started me down a lifelong path of prioritizing co-op games.

That's a great tribute.

Loving this. Putting arcade into a bartop form factor fits this into many lifestyles for which a standup arcade cab makes no sense.

I'll probably make one.

I follow the emulators for many years, but one thing is to play on the PC, the other thing is to play in a bartop created solely for playing :)

Build one , Create it without going in a hurry, when you find a component at a good price to buy it and then slowly build :)

Start to Buy Mini PC like THIS , or Intel Stick

Yeah I've looked at these before. It's definitely what I'll do! But I'll want to do everything myself, and my woodworking skills are still very much those of a novice... It'll be a good challenge!

Awesome work, by the way. A really inspiring build.

I bought the pieces already cut, try searching on Ebay " Bartop Kit "

What was the total cost, Dovella?

It is difficult to calculate the cost well, because I already had the Mini PC...

OK Mini PC or Stick from 80$ to 150 $
Monitor from Ebay 20-30 $ (or free from friends etc)
Cabinet , from 100 to 200 $
Stickers 50 $
Joystick 55 $ from Ali Express

And 20 $ other accessory from Amazon

My experiment continues

I Added Game Boy Advance Emulator VBA-M
Work perfect . (Filter 2xsai)

-----------------------

I added Playstation One emulator ePSXe v2.0.0 Windows

Work perfect (no filter) .
but I had a problem with the output from the emulator (perhaps it depends on my Front End), and then I removed this emulator from my bartop

I had forgotten an important recommendation for those who want to build a bartop like mine.

as soon as you have completed the configuration of emulators and operating system, I recommend to block Windows Update

Start -> Services.msc

double click , and Disable

WOW Looks amazing!

How's the performance of that minix? I have a raspberry pi 3, but it doesn't play anything after PS1 era.

Interesting, I'm currently building my cabinet as well and I want to stick a Raspberry Pi 3 in it. I wonder is this would be more worth it.

I'm going to work on it tomorrow, making the hole for the screen, speakers and control panel. :)

I do not understand why many people follow the fashion of using a raspberry that can not emulate everything well.
The price of a Mini PC or Intel Stick is almost equal to that of a raspberry, and then everything works perfectly (if we know work)

That's why I'm questioning my choice now, I already have a raspberry pi 3 in a box and all, but I wanted to buy another one for this, so I'm still open to change.

Though I've been playing a lot with the Pi 3 so far and it runs great, I didn't try arcade titles on it with MAME on it yet though, but as for console emulation from NES to PSX, it's pretty solid.

By the way, your cabinet looks absolutely great! :)
