My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

So I just got my birthday discounts, and literally the only thing I don't already own in some form is Puzzle and Dragons... It'd be nice if they actually customized these based on your purchases.

So they're still doing birth month discounts, thought it's 2016 only. Glad my birthday is after Switch release. :p

Does anyone know if delaying claiming your points extends the expiry date? For example, if I wait almost a month to claim points earned in Super Mario Run, does that effectively give me 1 extra month before they expire over claiming them as soon as you earn them?

All points allow up to 30 days to be claimed.

They expire at end of a month I believe.

My Nintendo Online Store Opening Soon in JP:

Nintendo is opening the My Nintendo Store, an online shop, on January 23 in Japan. The store will be open to My Nintendo users in Japan and give the opportunity to buy exclusive goods. Starting with the Switch, account holders are able to order Nintendo’s newest system from the site and can customize the colors of the Joy Con and the Joy Con straps. The system remains the same retail price of ¥29,980 and will also net members 300 gold points.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is also going to have a special limited My Nintendo Store version of the Deluxe Collector’s Edition of the game. The regular Deluxe Collector’s Edition comes with a physical version of the game, a Link Breath of the Wild Amiibo (on a horse), map, sound track and a special design sheet. The limited My Nintendo Store version includes all of the above as well as a Master Sword statue and a set of 20 postcards. The statue is about 10 inches tall (25 cm). This set will retail for ¥13,870 (about $120 USD).

Special limited versions of the Switch carrying case will also be available in Neon Blue and Neon Red to match the colors of the Joy Con. On top of this, customers who also purchase both Switch Hardware and software titles will receive Special B2 size posters featuring artwork of the games they purchased. Also, simply logging in to the My Nintendo Store on or after January 23 will also net members 100 platinum points.

Currently, the My Nintendo Store seems to be limited to Japan.

I think with what we saw from Switch now including pricing and services, we can bury the idea that My Nintendo will suddenly improve once Switch launches.

I actually found myself hoping we could use MyNintendo coins to pay for the online subscription, which is kind of ridiculous that they have lowered my expectations to the point of just being able to tread water.

There is zero reason to believe my Nintendo would get any better with the launch of switch. What would launching switch have to do with giving us better discounts/freebies from gold points? It could get better or worse, but an object at rest will most like stay at rest if Nintendo is involved. They don't need switch to change a store price, these just need to pull their head out of their ass.

Yeah, Nintendo wouldn't crush our reasonable hopes & dreams.

By the way, did they confirm Wolf for Smash 4 Switch?

Getting full games for coins on MyNintendo isn't ever happening again-- at least, not on Kimashima's watch. Expect 15% and 30% discounts for gold coins to continue. The gravy train is out of service.

Nintendo's goal is to extract some form of payment from customers for its games, unlike the days of Club Nintendo and the Iwata Era.

They closed Club Nintendo under Iwata and MyNintendo had full games under Kimishima.

This is getting extremely old extremely fast - GAF needs to stop suddenly attributing literally every negative thing coming out of Nintendo to Kimishima and the "end of the Iwata era".

You get 200 platinum points if you do the "Choose Your Legends" for Fire Emblem Heroes.

I spent a few minutes trying to figure out why I didn't get the points, then I saw this:

"My Nintendo points will be directly applied to the user's Nintendo Account within a few days after the event ends. After the My Nintendo points are applied, a notification e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address registered to the user's account."

Odd that this gets you 200 platinum. I thought it would be 10 at best.

Place your bets, how many Plat points will you get with a Switch console?

I feel like it should be 300 gold, and with any luck actual gold coin games we can redeem for, especially since this thing doesn't come with any games, but I'm prepared to be disappointed as per usual.

Gold coins aren't even as useful as Platinum coins right now, to be honest

The platinum discounts are useless, but it's not like the gold discounts are all that great either. It takes me all the way from "why would I do this" to "I might do this... maybe"

at least I can use my platinum coins on Miitomo junk or the random free themes that go up

Zelda time for EU!

A number of The Legend of Zelda-themed rewards are now available in My Nintendo!
Until 31/03/2017, you can redeem the following rewards in My Nintendo:

The Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary Theme
The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary orchestra videos:
-The Legend of Zelda: Ballad of the Goddess
-The Legend of Zelda: Great Fairy's Fountain
-The Legend of Zelda: Main Theme Medley

Obviously they're not available "now" as it says because Nintendo but I'd expect them Thursday when the Zelda sale starts.

I found out four weeks ago that you can get 30 platinum coins weekly from significant g into the official Nintendo website. It certainly does help rack up coins faster.

Was this common knowledge?

That 30th anniversary theme is mine. Well, eventually.

I'll get the videos too, because there's probably nothing else to get with these coins.

I had a handful of coins expiring and I bought the videos and theme. Definitely don't regret it, I feel they are worthy of a purchase. I even convinced my sister to get the theme, can't go wrong with a 30th anniversary Zelda theme!
