Well, I enjoyed Linger in Shadows for what it was, but I really hope there's more to this game than just a technology demo.

________

about the hand not moving with the PlayStation Move in that part of the video,

I think it's because it's 2 Move controllers being used & we are seeing the left PlayStation Move controller in the side of the video while the hand is being controlled by the Move controller in the right hand.

Fully agree. This is the first Move-related thing that I've ever been intrigued by.

Also, I want to know how Santa Monica is involved.

Ha, I just read this on their website. The blood flow Santa Monica logo that shows before GoW3 and GoW Collection starts, is made by them (which everyone guessed anyway) but the blood flow is actually interactive! I had no idea about it:

http://www.plastic-demo.org/

Since “God Of War Collection” trailer has been officially announced, we can now show you our latest production which is … an interactive logo. Like in the old days intros were executed before games, our logo is executed before newest “GoW”. I think that the most interesting thing about it is that the logo is interactive - you can control the flow of blood, popping symbols etc. Notice that there might be something hidden in the flow :)

The credits are:

maq/floppy - fluid flow algorithm
rork - graphical logo
misz, bonzaj, kinga - code, design and the rest

I think there will be another video or some images 'anonymously' given to a site in the next couple of days. I think I maybe caught them a bit too soon and they are having to accelerate things to keep the buzz going =P. I've not been able to find much else out atm with what we have available, but I'm no where near the level of other detective people that strip videos of audio and squash them to get letter or codes or anything =P

As far as names go I would GUESS something like Feel Through, or Feel Through Forest.

Only other thing I can find atm is what I think is a game icon in the bottom left hand corner in the video where you see the move controller (Obviously a shot where they pulled out a bit more)

yeah I seen that, I was wondering what it was.

It's too early to draw big conclusions, but I hope this isn't the last of weird motion controlled games. The video takes me back to the one thing I liked about Move in the first place: tracking your hand in 3D space. Wii gets too bogged down in gestures, and Kinect so far hasn't shown fine-grained control.

could this be 'Until Dawn'?

remember the game with the man walking with a flashlight
Good thought. The trademark seems to have been abandoned though.
http://tdr.uspto.gov/search.action?sn=85004701#

I think it was possibly a prototype for a game that got cancelled.
Most information I can find on it:
http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2010/07/until-dawn-playstation-move-title.html

If the footage and the name Until Dawn are one and the same it seems too gamey to be from Plastic, but I have no evidence, just my thoughts.

Time for me to do some more digging =P

EDIT:
All I can find is what others found at the time, SCEE own http://www.until-dawn.com , some massive jump someone made to a cast call for a zombie game trailer. But there is no evidence I see that the Until Dawn trademark is related to the flashlight footage, so could be the name of Plastic's project.

Hey guys, got a second video!

Source: http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2011/09/new-video-of-mysterious-move-game-shows.html

Things to notice:

- You can apparently walk around (at 0:21)
- The Move controller popping up at the bottom right of the screen is actually an in-game icon (at 0:30)
- You can drive a car (at 0:42)
- Stereoscopic 3D support? (at 0:48)
- Poor pig (at 0:55)

The video also ends with the Santa Monica Studio logo, confirming this is a collaboration between the SCEA studio and Plastic.

And this is not over yet... A third video is apparently out there somewhere to be found already.

"Search for third one. Combining them will give you answers", the source said.

Investigation time guys!

An old patent from 2007 shows they've been working on a glove controller. This type of controller is interesting. It'd be interesting if they could simulate the feeling of different textures with the controller or some type of feedback throughout your hand that would enhance the control.

Could this be for PS4?

There are two versions of this new video

This one is the one TTP posted:

This one is the same thing but the hand in different places and some other differences.

I don't know if the user names are important but they're the made from the same letters.

Also posted by the musician from Linger in Shadows

Oh nice spot with the petals, looks like it :)

I only tried visiting datura's channel on Youtube, gave up after that.

We should perhaps start searching for "Datura" videos? They say a 3rd vid is up, but can't find it.

Edit - Or maybe there is no third *new* video. They might just refer to the second video posted with different YT ID as the third one.

The next Heavy Rain game should try to use a control scheme like this. Manipulate in-game objects with a pair of procedurally generated hands.

In game hallucinations?
It makes sense, given the name. According to wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datura said:
Datura is a genus of nine species of vespertine flowering plants belonging to the family Solanaceae.

All Datura plants contain tropane alkaloids such as scopolamine, hyoscyamine, and atropine, primarily in their seeds and flowers. Because of the presence of these substances, Datura has been used for centuries in some cultures as a poison and hallucinogen.

Due to the potent combination of anticholinergic substances it contains, Datura intoxication typically produces effects similar to that of an anticholinergic delirium (as contrasted to hallucination): a complete inability to differentiate reality from fantasy; hyperthermia; tachycardia; bizarre, and possibly violent behavior; and severe mydriasis with resultant painful photophobia that can last several days. Pronounced amnesia is another commonly reported effect.

This looks really cool, though I think it will probably be closer to Linger in Shadows than what most people consider a full game.

Awesome work you guys.

Now can someone email that to FromSoftware so they can make the next King's Field like that?? OMG that forest looks amazing and I'd love to explore it with a shield and sword and kill mystical monsters!!!

Looked awesome. I'm a bit surprised there's more locations here and more stuff to do than it seemed at first.

Still...

That's what I expect as well (which is fine by me). What makes me think that is that they are a team of maybe 5 or 6 people, and the graphics here are so ridiculously detailed that I just can't imagine such a small team making something big that looks this good. Then again Thatgamecompany is just a few people strong as well, but they keep making bigger and bigger projects, each of which if more of a game than the previous one was.

Let's not forget they've also got Santa Monica behind them. Not expecting a proper game myself. I'd be happy if whatever it is works as a head-turning thing for developers unable to grasp Move potential.

Plastic sent Eurogamer two new videos of the Move-enabled title, arranged one after the other in a single video, below, which show a floating hand steering the wheel of a car and touching various objects in a forest.

A pig appears in the forest scene, as well as in the road scene. At one point, two frames of the same image appear, suggesting the game will be playable in stereoscopic 3D.

At the end of both videos the Santa Monica Studio logo appears. The music is by Polish film and TV composer Wojciech Golczewski.

"Comparing them will give you all the answers about our upcoming title," Plastic told Eurogamer.

I like quirky scene releases such as this one and Linger In Shadows (as long as the price is low). Also helps that they're often very impressive in a graphical sense, like this one seems to be. Can't wait to see more.

I wish they could find a way to incorporate some of the features the Novint Falcon has where the motors provide a way to simulate the feeling of textures which was amazing in the tech demo. Their rocky textures would be great here.

I hope that the hand is more transparent when the final game comes out so it will feel more like it's your hand that's reaching into the game

Got some "new news".

- Plastic got in touch to confirm "Datura" as the official game title.
- Did I say "game"? That's right, because Datura is an actual game (no tech-demo and stuff)
- 3D support confirmed
- Supports DualShock 3 as well.

More here: http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2011/09/plastic-confirms-datura-as-name-of.html

Finally, upon suggesting that the forest shown in the videos might act as some sort of hub from which the player enters different worlds through doors or other passages, and that whatever he does in those "other worlds" affects the look of the forest itself (as hinted by the way the forest looks in the last shots of both videos - looks brighter in the "pig lives" one), Plastic wouldn't confirm but conceded an encouraging "it's a very good deduction!".
