Ok, so this seemed really strange to me. A couple of posters made these two threads:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=560612
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=560609
basically highlighting the server problems GAF has during high traffic events. Both were then quickly closed (Pop's ban is unrelated).
Now, to me these are perfectly legitimate concerns that deserve to be discussed, the website Evilore has created prides itself on encouraging high quality discussion yet during the industry's most exciting moments we can't discuss at all. At this point shouldn't GAF be more prepared for these events that we know will happen every year? Is that not a fair question?
So what's the deal here? Obviously the mods are busy locking more threads than normal because of the increased amount of threads but this doesn't really feel like that. It seems very odd to me that we can't (seem) not to be able to bring these things up considering the mod that locked the threads probably had to refresh 2 or 3 times before it went through!
For the record, this isn't just me having a pop. I don't know the ins and outs regarding server capacity and traffic numbers, I just want to be able to talk about it. Is such a discussion not healthy for the website?
