I'm one of those who doesn't like keeping games around once I'm done with them (unnecessary clutter to me, especially since I won't likely play them again) so I am thinking what to do. I will probably sell all my Wii games once those are done in one large collection, along with Wii Classic controller pro

PS3 stuff is all going to go in one sale as well when I'm done with that.

I want to focus on current gen only (Wii U/PS4) with as little backlog as possible. I hate how I keep buying games and wasting money when 80% of them I don't play, or when I do I end up realizing its not my type of game or I really didn't need to play it since I get bored with it. So I am changing my model to a more minimalist approach with games, as I have a habit of collecting games from my younger days, to one where I only get the games I know I will play and am 100% interested in, and have the time to play. My tastes are really around Platinum's games and select Nintendo & third party franchises (such as Batman Arkham series) and I am only starting to realize this.

I am also starting to fully accept that I buy games just for the sake of it. Its quite puzzling. But have improved over the years, and hopefully I can start to focus more on actually playing the games rather than collecting stuff that I won't ever play and thus, waste money.

Ironically, backlog + changing my attitude is helping deter me from getting new games.

I went back to work today after a week off. An entire week to do nothing but play video games. I only fell behind by 4 games this week!

I bought and beat Second Son. Also finished Divekick. Then played through and beat Contrast. Played Noby Noby Boy until I was tired of it. I made good progress on Mario 3D Land, but then put it aside and started Bravely Default, maybe 25% of the way through it? Really liking it. I also played through Sonic CD. Not quite done with that one yet, but Mercenary Kings will likely get some attention this week.

Normally, that would be great progress on the backlog, but I bought a Gala Bundle. Also looking at the Humble Weekly. Maybe I should give up on being even for the year and focus on "Being even if you don't count the damn indie bundles!". That seems like it could be in reach at least.

WELP. That didn't happen. As for the games I played this month, Long Live the Queen and One Way Heroics are both great little PC indie games that you should check out if you haven't already. Bravely Default has a great first four chapters, two useless and terrible chapters, and then two more good chapters. It's definitely a game that has potential that mucks it up halfway through. This month, I'm thinking about taking advantage of the upcoming Target B2G1F sale that's arriving on the sixth, along with maybe getting a few other bundles. But mainly this month I plan on finally getting around to finishing more games, including Breath of Fire, Dysfunctional Systems, and Shin Megami Tensei. Hey, already beat Dysfunctional Systems, at around 2AM on the first, so it definitely counts to next month's total. Excellent start.

Update: 4/1/14

Slowish month for me on the gaming-finishing front. My long distance GF was in town for 10 days (what a drag, I know), so the only gaming I did during that time was a little Rayman Legends co-op. For the other 21 days of the month I beat some games, but also dumped 60 hours into Skyrim and 100 hours into Battlefield, with neither being 'completed' yet.

In addition to this, I just found out a video game place near where I live is closing up. They are having a big liquidation sale, so I think I'm in trouble for next month :(.

I've bought Splinter Cell: Conviction. Didn't like demo years ago, but after finished Blacklist, decided to give it a chance. Besides it was missing part of my Splinter Cell collection (Double Agent finished and sold; maybe I'll buy it again, soon).

Infamous: Second Son (PS4) - Beat with Good Karma. I remember getting really bored of the game after finishing up all northern districts, but at some point after that the mechanics of using Neon in combat really clicked with me, and I just started having a great time playing it. That lasted until the end. Pretty satisfying game with few problems.
Strider (PS4) - Decent game, but I doubt I'll replay it. Didn't feel the drive I normally do in these types of games to collect everything.

Currently Playing:

South Park: The Stick of Truth (Steam) - Beat it as a Thief a few days ago so I'll mention it in the April post. Can't believe how much of the humor reached me since I haven't regularly watched the show in many years.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (PS4) - Beat this the other day as well so I'll mention it next time. I'm only 9% done with the content, but after watching that ending I don't really think I want to go near this again.
Mercenary Kings (PS4) - Never bothered with it on Early Access but decided to give it a shot on PS+. I rapidly go between liking and hating it. I'm in the latter camp currently since it crashed on me twice yesterday (in the same place) when trying to fight a boss.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (PS Vita) - 2001 sure was a while ago but I still love FFX. It's such a great feeling to win that first blitzball game. It's after that moment though (when playing Blitzball is no longer a necessity!) where I really sink my teeth into the game, and that's where I am now.
Dark Souls II (X360) - Rented this version and stopped playing a few weeks ago after beating a few bosses. Decided I had enough distractions at the time to hold me off until the PC release.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (Steam) - I suppose I'll get back to this now with Infamous and South Park out of the way. Hopefully it's enough to continue staving off my Dark Souls II cravings. If not, I might indulge my urges with Reaper of Souls, or Titanfall, or FFXIV.

A bit late on my March update. So far so good for me, I'm really buying way less games this year. In fact, I'm hesitating on buying any new games since Its going to be difficult to resell them after I finish them considering my busy schedule.

Anyway, only bought a few games last month, although I haven't progressed much on both ZombiU and SMTI because I spent the whole month playing Atelier Escha&Logy and I'm still playing and going for the Platinum. For April its just Demon Gaze for me and I'm sure it will last for quite a while especially since its a handheld game and I won't struggle playing it compared to console games.

I platinumed inFamous: Second Son on last thursday. 2 playtroughts and platinum trophy in 30 hours. Game is great and btw it's my first platinum trophy ever.
Besides I finished Brothers on PS3, 1 hour ago, which takes me 3,5 h. Very decent title with sad end. I am impressed, because don't suppose such a good game.
I downloaded Hotline Miami on PS3, too. Many people like this game, so maybe I'll try.

I bought 2 jrpgs. Dragon Quest VIII on PS2 and Blue Dragon on X360. I've heared very good opinions about these games, so I suppose it will be fun.
On Monday I received PS2 from my cousine, so now I can play on it. I couldn't beat any PS2 games from my backlog, because my fat PS3 died last summer. So I started Shadow of Memories after 7 or 8 years, again. On fatty PS3 SoM didn't work well and I couldn't finish it.

Almost an entire month without any progress from me; but to be fair I read a book, was away for PAX East, and am discovering the joys of being a new homeowner. My wife is on the last 2-3 hours of Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC so we can start Borderlands 2 next. If for some reason she doesn't want to start that up, I'll play GTA5 instead. Also, a friend picked up Kid Icarus: Uprising for me when he found it on clearance. I'll officially add it to the backlog once it's in my possession.

For me this is the end of April update.
Finished PoP: backtracking HD on PS3. Sorry, my mistake. PoP: WW HD on PS3. I've never played in this part of trilogy, but I didn't enjoy it too much. Backtracking killed this game for me. Besides very interesting plot, main opponent and empress. Another PoP for me in HD collection and once again sound problems. This is shame, pity and hilarious, Ubisoft.
I bought Bioshock: Infinite, yesterday. Price was a good bargain, so I couldn't resist. Especially, polish edition has got a free season pass inside box.

My progress went back this month because I didn't play any games and freaking Sony sales. Didn't start up Fallout 1 but instead started playing Persona 3 Portable again. I was about halfway through P3P when I stopped years ago. I plan on focusing on that next month because if I stop I probably won't play it again until years later. I wasn't very far into Fallout 1 anyway.
