Which part? Unless it was some mainstream source saying trump supporters are accused of pretending to be antifa- I’ve yet to see some crazy left wing gaf members make threads based on zero receipts or sources saying the same level of fud like the thread EL locked about the woman shot in the neck.

I guess the "downtown chicago gay black celebrity attempted lynching by white trump supporters while getting a subway sandwich at 2am during a blizzard" news cycle was one you missed, among many others, while living under your rock.

Tried to search for the thread on gaf, couldn't find it.

Was it posted on GAF? because I am talking about GAF specifically and if so, was it a user trying to spread fud or simply posting a story that was circulating. There's a huge difference in posting a story even if its untrue from a mainstream source than spreading fud with a lengthy OP using some random tweet from some random person as 'evidence'.

RussiaGate? I wasn't around so I don't know if it was posted here as I'd left when the SJWs were purging everyone. But I'd be surprised if certain elements that were/are on this board didn't buy into it.

edit: nvm, that's more about general conspiracy theories subscribed to by left-leaning posters. Wasn't following attentively enough.

Yes, it was on GAF. I'm pretty sure you know that.

Also, using the excuse of "believing an obvious lie pushed by the traditional media is different than believing an obvious lie pushed by social media" is pretty lame. It still makes the person doing it a fool either way.

saying CNN are reporting this 'insert article' is different than a wall of text of fantasy supported by a picture from some random twitter account is different, but I'm pretty sure you know that.

*9/11 happens*
"I don't care. The Left and Antifa imperialist United States and CIA also loot and riot and murder kill thousands every year and destabilize countries..."

How would you expect that to fare on the boards back in 2001? This is the most significant terrorist act on US soil since 9/11.

I can understand this line of thinking given that the event occurred at the Capitol during democratic proceedings. I do think that the event was a result of both inflammatory rhetoric and a failure to adequately condemn and stop horrific behavior that occurred over the summer. I hope that all sides can see their failures in those regards and do a better job in order to prevent this from happening again. It is now an opportunity for both sides to drop the rhetoric and look for real unity while seeking justice.

With regret I will no longer be posting on GAF (and no I won't be requesting a ban like a drama queen - I will simply log out and not come back). Unfortunately, after two years of quite correctly undoing bish's mistakes and increasing transparency, the new direction of travel is to repeat those same mistakes. There's an Einstein quote on that one. Whatever the cause of EL's change of attitude (and there has been a notable uptick in rudeness), be it fear or just deciding he doesn't need us any more after we got the site to critical mass, or maybe a genuine change of heart, it leaves us all walking on eggshells (just look at the reboot of clown world - a shadow of its former self). It's your ball pit, you get to run it how you want, and nothing any of us says will make the slightest difference, just as it didn't when people spoke up last time. It is what it is, I will miss GAF because it was truly awesome, but I fear it soon won't be. Good luck.
You've got it wrong, but follow your heart. Sayonara.

That's a shame man. You will be missed. Take care and maybe think about it. Plenty of good folks still here.

Continuation of the racial IQ posts they recently came back from one month bans for.

I don't think JordanN is a hateful person, just on the spectrum and looking to find ways of categorizing the world around him, which is why he's been handled gently, but it's been too many times.

Ho/Hum
Somebody asked me today in a discussion if he had 'struck a nerve' with me, I replied and after a bit put the thread on ignore, first one. I was and am as calm as can be but it made me think, this whole new situation sure did a number on certain posters who did see themselves ahead for the past years, now that there is apparently not much glee to be had a lot of civility went out of the window. Even some posters who I didn't take for the political type veered in atypical directions and got done for it.
I hope were getting to less exciting times fast.

Random newbie posters I don't know are going into unrelated threads and lobbing driveby political insults my way.

The sensible will need to deal with some shit.

I'd guess stanning for the Capitol riots is not en vogue here at the moment.

Tbh, I wondered why he was still around while appaws appaws was permed for their racial IQ discussion back then.

Had discussions about what happened a week ago with both, and with the direction this site is going after that I understand why they are both permed now.

What did he do? Was it a deleted post or something?

i'm guessing it was the repeated "blm riots worse than capital riots" rhetoric but also, according to the explanation, that he probably shouldn't have been unbanned in the first place

I'd guess stanning for the Capitol riots is not en vogue here at the moment.

i didn't catch him saying that but if he did that explains it.

How it is relevant is that we are allowed to defend ourselves, meanwhile your post suggested we're not.

The violence on the 6th is not condoned.

The double standards are not missed.

What's difficult about this?

I think there's a fundamental difference between saying "CNN" has double standards (which it objectively has) to telling fellow posters that have mostly laughed at things like the "fiery but peaceful" statements from the press that their outrage about the capitol incident is manufactured. I get the feeling that with the changes to the politics forum and some longtime supporters having had a change of heart because of what happened at the capitol, the hardliners might have been pushed too much.

EL pretty much told this already - Capitol riots were the spark that lit the fuse. It is understandable that such a thing sparks questions - After all prior to that, a lot more was welcome.

However, the Capitol storming went on to show that people, whether fueled by hatred or incited by it (or being exceptional) will now go make physical contact to make themselves clear. Previously, it was usually words and demonstrations (and those became increasingly grimm)

The Capitol storming showed that a new layer is peeled off. Because of this, EL took action.

You could argue that things are done out of naivety, sure, but in the New Reality, new diametrics apply.

Having said that, i do think you are dropping the ball here - Regardless of EL's policy changes or not. You go from 0 - 100 in one second - Perhaps further motivated by things of forgotten past.

If that's rightful, that's one i leave up for grabs. I personally don't think it is.

I am actually surprised that cybrwzrd of all people got the cake. Outside of Politics, i guess? He was a regular poster.

JordanN however, that surprises me less based on history.

People who are screaming about censorship and stuff like that, probably need to take into account, what kind of political environment now is in States and with ban of some websites, the stakes are high. I think as a responsible owner of any site and now looking at their back. It simply not worth it to take down whole forum with your hot takes.

I for one am actually glad that some downright retarded conspiracy theories were taken down, not because it would be anti-free speech, it's just anti-idiocy.

His persona and behaviour made alot of sense when I clicked his profile and found out he's from Brampton. If you knew about that city you'd know how hilarious his posts were. The poor bastard.

So Afro had separate alts for separate forums? WTF that's weird.
Voost was gaming, Afro was politics, I think Freedom Gate was everywhere though.

The Freedom profile just started posting again. He hadnt used it since March 2020. I guess the itch to relog back in with alts lead to getting caught.

If you think game boards are bad with alts, you should have been on the wild west Yahoo Finance boards in 2000 when dot coms and mega money were flowing and stocks were whipping up and down like a roller coaster.

The number of people using alts was insane. And back then there was full cussing and insults. No moderation or auto-filtering by Yahoo. Only way to get a post deleted was to report it one by one.

The best part was one time Yahoo's site messed up and every post (for about 2 hours) some reason tagged on the ISP address to a post. It suddenly showed up and if you were fast enough that day to skim the posts you could see which posts were the same people.

I only used one so no skin off my back.

But for everyone that day laughing and pointing at the people with alts talking and responding to themselves or responding to someone else using the wrong alt, it was HILARIOUS.

Then they fixed the forum and all the ISP tags disappeared.

That sounds like when I used to lurk on the Underground, back when I was more (way too much more) into MMA.

The old Underground, not the fucked up undead version that is still gasping along.
