I sense you may be disagreeing purely on ideological grounds. The guy is incapable of debating honestly with people, just waffles and deflect and bullshits until people lose their rag. He makes no useful contribution.
It’s so obvious who the equality of outcome true believers are

I strongly disagree with Geki D’s 1 month ban. Extremely disappointing to see it take place.
The man consistently spergs out whenever the term “SJW” is mentioned. At this point the ban is for his his own good.

Like if he wants to be a contrarian edgelord, whatever, but he never actually engages in conversations beyond spewing ad hominems, deflections, and intentional misrepresentations.

He’s less coherent and less reasonable than the people he bitches about. That’s how he chooses to present himself.

Hey folks,

Just swinging by to say we always monitor and keep an eye on threads like this, the meta-thread etc. While we did agree on the Geki-D ban length for a set time - we also acknowledge that both posts highlighted were made in a short space of time and in the same thread. Maybe this poster was having a particularly bad day. In light of the comments on this thread, the ban has been reviewed and reduced from one month to two weeks. This feels like a fair compromise considering the leniency we've afforded Geki-D in the past, which seems to have gone beyond a mutual level of respect and trust. There has been a clear pattern of a downwards spiral in some instances and this does need to be acknowledged and sanctioned for the good of the community.

We look forward to moving past this with Geki-D on their return

Edit: Yes, apologies for missing the below out. This was one of the main issues with the posts. Not only the 'detectiveGAF' aspect but after the review, it appeared it was at least mistaken identity if not deliberately reframed

That said, if Geki-D Geki-D pulls that internet detective smearing on anyone here again, it'll be an automatic perm.
Not a fan of (actual) internet detective stuff myself, but isn't the context relevant here? Katsura was claiming Geki-D was lying when he said that Katsura was portraying his views as less harmful than the opposing views on gender & representation, which would require Geki-D to either accept being called a liar wrongfully or to provide evidence to his claim, which can only be supported by quotes that display that behaviour. The post before that, where he quoted old postings of Katsura, he was quoting discussions he recently had with Katsura, so no detective work required here. I can understand having issues with the tone, but Geki-D did not just dig up some dirt on someone to fling it at him, but merely provided evidence when challenged about his claims. How would you want him to react in the above situation going forward?

And I assume the same also holds for all of us, right? Because to my best knowledge, this would be a new policy.

Since I was talking about those two and did not link, I will just add: Geki-D Geki-D Katsura Katsura

EDIT: To be clear, this is not discussing whether it is fine to misrepresent something by e.g. quoting selectively in a way to completely change what one has said, because I do not think that this is what you mean when you say detective smearing.

Except he was lying and he was trying to reframe my posts in other topics as something they were not. I opted not to defend anything because that would have further derailed the thread. Why are you even mentioning me? I wouldn't have discovered your post had you not specifically @at me. Seems like a strange decision. I wonder what your motivation for doing that was

He was a strange one. Seemed to be making up a weird story to get a reaction out of people on the economy thread.
A strange one indeed. When people started getting in his throat he went cussing and all that. That’s the doing of the weak

I mentioned you because I felt it was unfair to talk about something that involves you without @-ing you, because, after reading the posting, I made more than just fleeting mention of you.

I told Tyler to take a breather before posting again but that was in the economy thread. I read some of the latest posts in the thick skin thread and he wasn't rolling with any of brap's punches. Too argumentative and dramatic.

Now that there has been time for the dust to settle a bit, I would like to ask if Weilthain’s perm could be reviewed and possibly downgraded to 3 months or some other long temp ban. I know he continued with his bullshit after several warnings but apart from that one ridiculous topic, he’s a popular member and generally a good contributor. People aren’t perfect and many people who like to participate in internet discussions are also high on the intelligence/autism scale (often both). This can lead to some obsessive behaviours which are often irrational and annoying to others. However, I believe that we should try to understand and include these people and deal with their eccentricities in other ways. With Weilthain specifically, maybe it means a thread ban any time he tries to bring up flat earth. Just stop him in his tracks and maybe he will get the point eventually.

Just wanted to raise it for consideration.

I guess, but it’s possible he regrets it and could make up for it with a second (or third or whatever it is) chance. Kagey K Kagey K has made similar overtures and been talked down from the ledge and I think many of us are glad he’s still here.
Yeah I like Kagey K Kagey K and I don’t mind him getting heated honestly. Because I know he’s a good fella at the end of the day. I’d also like to see Weilthain return but as Tyler said, he got what he wanted.

I’m pretty sure there are a few that aren’t happy I’m still around. I don’t know what Weilthain Weilthain did to get banned, but all I can say is that for me, taking a step back and taking some self mandated time off helped me a lot.

I don’t like seeing anyone get banned, and think everyone deserves extra chances.
