As for Triss, this is going to be based on the books and the press release is for female leads. While Triss eventually plays a big part as a member of the Lodge we can assume she won't be a major player at least at this junction. We know members of the Lodge are in play as you see Mimi Ndiweni cast as Fringilla Vigo. I added all images as the Hollywood Reporter article included none (knowing that's the main thing people want to see). Regarding Dandelion I have no clue why he's not cast yet.

I thought Ciri was going to be black.
I remember some articles talking about that Ciri probably won't be white.
It appears the back paddled after people got upset. Rightfully so. I have no issues with diverse casts but please do not change established characters. They could have easily made up a completely new character and then cast a minority actor for it.

@cast: Looks great. Yennefer looks pretty young though

I don't understand how that could have happened. It's not like people from both far ends of the political spectrum could get per-emptively offended by issues they are projecting.

Well, I think I'm happy.... I mean even tho there are some differences with the videogames character we have to understand that this is something totally unrelated, so apart from the descrition on the books they don't need to be identical to the game.

Btw is the author getting royalties for this show? lol
Apparently this is being made "in collaboration with" Andrzej Sapkowski - what that means in practice, who knows.

But I'm willing to bet he's getting more out of this than from CDPR. Or at least he has learned to negotiate better deals.

lmao who the fuck even are these people
I guess they used the entire casting budget on Cavill.
This is gonna be terrible.
Do you only watch shows and movies where the entire cast is made up of actors you recognize? I would love to know just how many things you pass on when you're scrolling through Netflix or HBO shows.

I'm just amazed this is a criterion someone would use to decide if something is "terrible" or not.

Uhh did you expect a ton of A and B list actors? No way in hell would Netflix shell out that much money. Henry was probably cheap coming off of his superman stint which I figure is the only reason they nabbed him.

Yennefer is black now? You might want to adjust the settings on your monitor.
A lot of people assumed she's Indian before they were informed she's Romanian. And, to be fair, her complexion looks darker than romani travellers'. It's kinda the same thing with Alicia Vikander: ignore the name and her resume, 9 out of 10 people wouldn't guess she's Swedish.

Have you seen Game of Thrones (or are you allowed to watch it yet)?

In the first season, I didn't really know any of the actors outside Sean Bean (same here with Henry Cavill). And yet they did a fucking fantastic job. I'd argue I was able to enjoy the series more, because I didn't have any preconceptions about the actors.

OK... are Indians black now? I have sometimes a hard time keeping up with this.

I'm not sold on Yennefer but then again my contact with the franchise is limited to the games. In my mind Yennefer looks more mature and is more curvy.

A younger Monica Bellucci would be excellent.

Considering it takes like a decade before first game I think the casting works, even though yes Yen actress being only 22 and very much looking her age or even younger is awkward when compared to Cavill, but no big deal.

I'm not ok with Fringilla.

I'm ok with a diverse cast, actually I really don't give a fuck about race or color IF they're not estabilished characters. Just write new ones, don't change the existing characters just to fit a sad political agenda.

Yup. You know they just HAD to put a black character in the cast.

The Hollywood Insider article says they've cast 50 characters so far, so Triss, Dandelion and Dijkstra might be among them. They might not play a very prominent role in the first season, though.
