New? GR3:AW (x360) Screens

Are you insane? Do you REALLY think that people are bashing the visuals due to screenshot quality?!?! Those screenshots are of great quality (better than damn near everything else this gen). Not only that, the top screenshots are reduced in size...giving them free AA.

Obviously I wasn't talking about the top screens. The other screens are grainy and of poor quality.

The shots aren't 'blown up', they are delivered this way. :)

Yeah Fuck gameplay innovation. Give me the graphics!

You call that gameplay innovation? Well, maybe we'll have to see. I usually end up never using the 'gimmicks' in first person shooters and playing through oldskool like Ghost Recon 1. I don't see how I would use it as of yet, then again I don't know much about it.

In the X05 demo they had the cross-com and the UAV aircraft, you could order it around and you would see the images from it's videorecorder. Like I said, cool gimmick. But I've yet to see if it's any fun to use of even practical.

I don't get people moaning about innovation though. How are people supposed to innovate at this point? Aside from better integration of every function and feature, seamless loading, better graphics and sounds, what's there to change on a shooter? I'd like to see more physics like in Half-Life 2, but it's obviously been done in that game, so would that qualify as innovation in a new game or as apply the norm... It's confusing. :)

Theres been lots of these 'innovations' before, all gimmicks that didn't return much. Anyways we'll see!

And from todays IGN Mailbag.....

". Honestly, one of the games I'm most looking forward this year is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. I saw it recently and it's beautiful, a complete turnaround from its rough X05 showing in October."

That's good to hear.

Went back and watched again. Same questionable textures and low poly enviroments. What made that first video awesome was the atmosphere and animation, which unfortunately doesnt come across in pictures.
Well it was a prescripted render and had some nice filters applied to it too.

Ah, but you see, that's exactly where the largest problem lies. If you've seen any of the more recent GRAW videos, you can clearly see that the animation and general "motion" of everything doesn't even begin to compare to the E3 teaser. That's what has suffered the most.

Regarding some of the low rez textures, a dev said this on the forums at ghostrecon.net:

Thanks for linking that bsc. Should be popping up on all the sites pretty soon.

One thing to note. The game (IMO) looks great, but you are NOT looking at high-res textures from the game. This video was produced a while ago and all the HD textures were not put in yet. This is meant to give you a glimpse of in-progress gameplay but mainly to explain a core feature of the game.

You will see a LOT of videos in the next 2 months, and most will have these textures in them. I will try to get some stuff on marketplace so you can run it on your HDTVS and see the difference. Its truly jaw dropping, but don't take it from me! Wait until you see it for yourself.

If you guys have questions, lemme know!

Ubi didn't create the graphics engine for GRAW.

The engine for GRAW 360 was developed by a UBI studio called Tiwak. It's called YETI and it's targeted for next-gen consoles.

For the Xbox version is using the Unreal engine.

For the PC, developer GRIN is using their own in-house engine called Diesel.

:lol It obviously doesn't take much to impress the XBots around here. I know you are starved for something to play, but geez. If you think that is impressive, you really need to go back and reexamine the E3 video..

yeah, wow. wish i could be an uptight "gamer" like you trolls.

I can only judge the screen available - the end product may look much better but they are starting to run out of time. UBISOFT usually comes through on graphics, so it's a mystery why this looks so bad.

Or it may just be another rushed 360 product. Anyway, it's just funny to watch XBots exclaim over the greatness of these screens. They aren't anything special.

trmas, Nearly as funny as watching you, poping into every 360 thread, uttering your infinite words of wisdom.

I've stayed out of plenty. I especially like the Outfit one, and the EA messed up my 360 ones. But I have an interest in GRAW, and am disappointed the game looks so bad.

Do you own an Xbox 360? Be honest.

Nope. I sold my preorder one for over $1000 on EBay.

Every game I wanted for the 360 so far with a few exceptions has disappointed

PDZ - can't begin to start on this one
Kameo - played at the demo kiosk and the controls made me want to punch something
GRAW - looked incredible at E3, and has since completely deteriorated
GoW - looks good, but the animation is horrendous
Blue Dragon - I think this game looks fantastic! I absolutely pray it doesn't suck, but it won't be here for at LEAST another year.
Oblivion - may convince me to buy the system if they can clean the framerate up

We'll see if MS can make a believer of me at E3. I like the online, but the games look like so much crap to me personally so far. I'll probably get one eventually as I think the box itself is really slick and money is no object, but not interested right now except in certain games.

Why can I see the polygons in the soldiers? I thought next-gen meant smoother models with higher polygon count, but the models look terrible.

does it look as good as what was shown on the E3 trailer??

oh, and somebody on ur forum posted this:

According to douglas c perry from ign which has seen this game recently running on a 360 console... the game is graphically stunning and its one of his most anticipated 360 titles. Wasn't thinking much of it until he saw it running and this guy is usually REALLY picky so that is some good news I'd say.

He described the game as a better graphics version of what we saw in the beginning of the mgs 4 trailer. The game has something about it that just can't be conveyed by means of screenshots according to what he was saying about it.

do u know if Douglass Perry actually said or posted that??

TXB also has the images. Most of them look like repeats of what we've already seen, but the quality is a tad bit better.
