New look at the Trinity costumes in Batman v Superman

They all look great, but I still hate the weird Kryptonian detailing on the sides of the Superman suit.

What's wrong with red briefs?

The entire fight Superman is telling him to stop because he's worried for him. Even at the very end he's looking at Bruce's heart. Batman only "wins" because Superman lets him.

The Man of Steel suit is actually rather brightly colored in person. None of these colors will survive Snyder's desaturation fetish. That is one badass Batsuit, though.

It looks dumb.

The all-blue looks just as dumb. The Superman suit needs some red in the lower half or it just looks monotonous. I think the Man of Steel suit actually looked better because it had more gold bits at the waist to break up the blue.

It's not a fight he can win without Kryponite, he knows this, Clark knows this, the entire confrontation is a distraction so Ollie can get close enough to shoot the Kryponite at Clark without completely whiffing.
So how come Clark doesn't hear Ollie coming?

I don't disagree that it needs something to help break up the design a bit. If the side panel stood out a bit more, or if there was more of a belt to it, that'd look way better. Doesn't mean they were wrong to get rid of the underpants. It's an antiquated design choice.

And then Clark effortlessly shatters Bruce's ribs and Bruce fakes a heart attack to end the fight.

Seriously, Bruce had literally everything going for him. Stopping a special nuke took a hell of a lot out of Clark. The nuke blotted out the sun, slowing his ability to regain his strength. He was hit by lightning after the severe weakening. Bruce is wearing a special suit. Has the Batmobile-Tank model attack Clark. Hits him with the all the energy in Gotham's power grid. And is fighting the man in a cloud of Kryptonite dust.

... And the best he can do is bloody the guy's mouth and then bitch out with a fake heart attack.

So how come Clark doesn't hear Ollie coming?

Ears still ringing from the nuke?

I really hate the "Batman can beat Superman" arguments. That's not what makes Bruce cool. Bruce is cool because he's a relatively normal human whose skills allow him to stand with these people who are effectively a new Pantheon. Not because he stands above them.

Batman looks amazing. Wonder Woman looks a bit better from before. The colors look great! Superman still needs to find something to balance the blue below the belt so he doesn't look like he's running around in jammies. I say just go back to the shorts, but what do I know?

Wonder Woman looks fucking outstanding!

Costume designer knew what's up with how horrible silver muted everything with the New 52 costume. I'm so glad they went with the trademark heroic red, blue, and yellow-gold.

I like all three.

Red trunks always looked ridiculous, Batman needs to be swol because he's just a man, WW's is perfect (heels aside).

The texture of the batsuit is bothering me. Looks like a weird mesh that comes off as a wrinkled compression shirt.

I really hope Supermans suit doesnt have that horrible muted turquoise from MoS.

Give me blue! Blue!

But thank God we finally have a batsuit that looks like a costume and not some faux tactical armor abomination.

I'm not crazy about the batsuit, but since it looks okay under movie lighting, I'll let it slide for now. It would be hilarious if this batman moved and fought better than Nolan's bat with the more mobile suit.

We need a pic of dat shield

I'm sorry but we're gonna need a peek of what's underneath that skirt. For...reasons to do with science.

Finally easy to see more colour on Wonder Woman!

Really hoping they can show good shots of her soon of her suit. Bummed they couldn't do it in the recent trailer. There's still people out there thinking she's a Xena ripoff as they thought her costume was brown due to that silly filter in that official pic released a while back.

So, for the few people complaining about Wonder Woman wearing a skirt, would you tell the ancient Romans and Greeks that they're dressed wrong for battle?

Affleck is a really big guy in general. And now that he's bulked up to "Batman size," that becomes even more noticeable. The teaser trailer made the film look much more "comic booky" than MOS did. It looks more stylized, like a Zack Snyder movie (MOS was the least Zack Snyder-looking Zack Snyder movie that I've ever seen).

WW's costume reminds me of her Earth 2 one from the New 52. Not 100%, but there are similarities (especially the skirt and boots).

So how come Clark doesn't hear Ollie coming?

Dunno, he didn't hear the tank coming either when Carrie was driving it. Guess his senses are dulled. For those uninitiated to comics, The Dark Knight Returns is not canon, it's not on earth one (or now called earth zero).

If you want someone who can throw down with Superman your best bet is Shazam or Black Adam. Hope the rumors of Black Adam as a villain in Justice League are true. One of their best villains.

Oh god this shit again. What's sad is Batman fans will latch on it.

Come on, it was semi believable that Batman would spend decades working on a version of kryptonite. He's always come across as someone who is extremely paranoid and always wants to retain the upper hand.

In that battle though Supes was still winning and it was Batman just gloating hard.

And he was still weak from taking a direct nuke blast. That's really the only way Batman could ever get close to stomping Superman, but it shows that Batman is a creature of exploiting an advantage, however small.

He knows Superman won't try to kill him, he knows he's weak and he knows that taking Kryptonite face first in gas form will just make him weaker, but that's all part of Batman's character and feed into his prep time.

Wow that art is terrible.

Frank Miller in a nutshell.

Batwriting has always been terrible whenever other heroes are around.

Just a reminder that about five seconds after this, Batman had a heart attack and died, while Superman was standing over him pretty much ok even after kryptonite poisoning.
Well he didn't die, but that was the end of the "fight" which Superman could have ended at any moment
.

So not so much "beat" as "somewhat got the upper hand for a moment after Superman basically stood there trying not to kill Batman for twenty minutes". Also "the one man" actually had help from Robin and Green Arrow.
Basically, for all that "prep time" joke, if at any point Superman just decided to kill Batman, the fight would have been over. It's like Miller leaning on a set of scales and saying "well if you take my extra weight into account, Batman sort of won".

Damn those costume are really good. Happy to see the color on Wonder Woman since that was my one gripe when it was revealed.

DC has been on point with their costumes thus far. Really excited to see Flash.

Well it's Miller, he can't write a proper superhero story without adding some political strawmanning.

Want good Batman/Superman shtick? Go read a bunch of Superman/Batman books. Especially love "what happens if Batman gets Superman's powers".

So how come Clark doesn't hear Ollie coming?

Several reasons are given. After you read it for the first time you realize that Bruce knows that if Clark suspects there is Kryponite present, he will end the confrontation swiftly and violently, like he presumably did when he ripped Ollie's arm off.

1) As mentioned above, Clark had taken a nuke to the face about a day ago. Batman sends X-Ray sensing missles after him shortly after Superman arrives searching for him, noting that Clark would only be able to dodge them at full speed. He's not, and the missles connect

2) Batman starts the fight using a Sonic gun. This is actually an on and off again weakness of Supes in several forms of media, and you can imagine it made his ears ring (it gives him a nosebleed)

3) While only human, Bats is a capable hand to hand fighter that requires some level of attention to fend off in powered armor

4) As his last desperate ploys, Bruce uses napalm and acid to the face to distract Clark, noting that the latter finally pissed him off enough to end the fight

5) During the entire confrontation, Clark is monitoring Bruce's vitals, and immediately is distracted by irregularities in Bruce's heartbeat

6) Ollie is an amazing shot, who zeroes in on Clark from a block away pulling the bow string from his teeth.

Even with all this, Clark still catches the arrow, but the Kryponite immediately disintegrates into vapor, preventing him from tossing it away or burning it.

It's easy for Batman fans to take the confrontation out of context and gloat about Bruce winning, but Miller never intended for him to win that fight. He portrays Clark as he had been at that point in the comics; invincible, nigh-immortal, and condescending to attempts on his life. Bruce was venting his frustration at the world and using Clark as a proxy. Clark, being the boy scout that he is, lets him, and then lets him escape after he sees through the fake out death at his funeral. He grudgingly accepts Bruce's conviction to fighting crime his way, and Bruce grudgingly accepts keeping a lower profile.

They so ruined MoS suit. They just had to add a red belt, but no, let's change the chainmail texture and erease the silver ornaments that gave it the alien look, and make it look like painted blue. Lame.

Bingo. Pre-crazy Miller knew what he was doing (to an extent. His comment that Batman and Superman are too different to ever be friends is stupid.)
