I bought an Xbox for LP1. LP2 I skipped because bad demo and poor reviews... but this looks really good to me so far, so interest back on.

As a big fan of LP1, I think this looks pretty good. Glad to see it's returning to the snowy environments. The gameplay looks more similar to the first one too which is a good thing.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was a complete failure. (LP2 sucks balls too),Original game's premise (surviving and fighting aliens in extreme weather event) was a fucking great idea, however the game failed completely in delivering that and it ruined it with the borong enemies and boring levels (which was not balanced well with t-energy limits) and shitty story and characters.

Sadly I doubt Spark can do the original premise justice because they are horrible devs.

The guy makes me think of a Shakespearean actor or Victorian nobleman. More games need oddly cheerful bearded dudes.

The "original premise" for Lost Planet 1 was to make a high-action sci-fi shooter with interesting enemies, fun weapons, and good boss fights, while introducing gameplay elements from traditional Japanese action games. It was a spectacular success. It's one of an astoundingly low number of games that manages to do the Halo "linear sandbox" style of shooter as well as Halo. Lost Planet 2 was a drastic improvement on that compared to the first game, and I struggle to think of any games that do it as well as LP2. Which is one of the only co-op action games of the generation where the co-op isn't insultingly simple (Left 4 Dead) or so poorly executed that it removes any semblance of challenge or tension from the game (Halo, Gears, every other shooter where co-op gives you unlimited respawns or lets your friends revive you infinitely for free).

The fact that the FPS market demands homogeneity doesn't take away from the fact that Lost Planet 1 and 2 were fantastically designed games. Passing it off to a shithouse developer who aspires to make the third game into a ripoff of a ripoff of an older Capcom game is just insulting.

that looks like it could get really painful.... o_O

Trying too hard?

Anyways, y'all all seem to dislike the character design, when I think what's really more worrisome is the enemy design. Not nearly as good so far as the enemies from Extreme Condition and 2. Character design is pretty much just visuals where as enemy design can change the entire gameplay.

I hope some of the past akrid return.

I like the character. He is not some japanese pretty boy and neither a bald spacemarine. I mean hell, he has a beard. I am excited to see what they do.

(also, if anyone thinks "WAYNE" was a good character, have mercy on their soul)

Agree completely. LP2 is a game emphasizes your performance and ability to actually play together. Unfortunately putting some actual responsibility on individuals (such as a being careful with the shared respawn pool) is seen as too taxing and labeled "bad design"

it's too westernized and different from 1 and 2 for my liking.
My thoughts exactly.

The art direction, character designs and especially mech designs don't look like they're from the same universe. I really liked LP1 and even 2, but have no hope for this one. They're departing too far from formula was well with first person mech nonsense and open world+sidequests. Just what we need, more genre blurring and industry homogenization from shoving shit into games because it's popular.

DMC4 and RE5 play fine on PS3. Just depends on the work they put into it.
Exactly. It seemed like the poster I quoted made it seem like the PS3 isn't capable. Like you said, depending on how much effort Capcom puts into it the games can turn out well on PS3 also.

You know, I really dont hate his face, I like the more stylized cartoon style, and he is not a bald space marine, something that I appreciate.
His face is derpy like in some of the screens, but in others it looks good. It would be bgetter if they put him a helmet when he is outside though.

Hahahahahahahahaha oh god...

Good to see the space marines are getting hair!

I'm pretty pumped for this. Hoping Spark can prove themselves with this one.
