I don't think this will do as well as the first. Sniper Elite is pretty close to it and will probably take a lot of the market.

The box art for this seems awfully familiar, though.

Last year it was cyberpunk games, this year its sniping games, what niche genre will get a sudden influx of games next year?

Good engine, bad art direction. Texture work on skin seems really off, flying limbs are cool. Not expecting this to play very well, and even with the played out setting, Sniper Elite has this comparison on lockdown, imo.

Two games are not a sudden influx, tbh, especially if they're both sequels.

Space games are this year's new hotness.

I agreed with you until I found this on the EB website while searching for Ghost Warrior.

I don't care so much about the graphics - they're inconsistent (only modeling one severed limb per side, per body part seems a bit short sighted), but it's the gameplay that I hope is improved over the first. Some of those screens give me pause, thinking that might not be the case.

I think Sniper Elite v2 will be the better game, this me basing my opinion on previous games on both franchises and by playing the v2 demo. Personally I also like the WWII setting more.

Was S:GW 1 as linear as some people said?
I have no idea why anyone would want a sniper game where you have no latitude to handle a situation.

it was terrible scripted and linear, I hope this time they take a more open approach and put you in big maps where one can choose the way to approach the objectives.

The first game was odd in that way, because most of the maps were actually fairly big, but there were only a couple of levels where they let you off the hook with the scripting.

I remember in one of the last levels I glitched over some fence which was the edge of the level, and there was like another half a mile of really detailed geometry there with trees and buildings and stuff. Pretty weird.

That looks horrible. Something just doesn't work here, at all. Everything sort of looks like it's made out of plastic or something.

And that guy looks so non-nonchalant about losing his arm, what the hell.
