New Super Smash Bros character to be revealed on Monday

So in order to be at maximum hype when the inevitable Shulk reveal happens tomorrow, I've forced myself to try and get back into Xenoblade.

Happy to say that I'm making progress. If nothing else, I might get a cool stage with godlike Shimomura music.

It feels so close. I don't have much connection to Shulk, but the same was true for Lucas and Ike and I ended up using them a lot in Brawl. So who knows, Sakurai might win me over.

The dream would be for the reveal to actually be, like... Rawk Hawk or something zany. I feel like the game has a lot of human-proportion characters already. I want some more cartoony craziness!

You know, I really wanted to hate Riki. It's very rare that I play JRPGs so all of the tropes which Shulk apparently fulfils were lost on me and as such I really liked his character/arc. So when Riki came bumbling into the cast as the mascot/comic relief... well, I kind of wanted him to fuck off.

But ever since that heart-to-heart he has with Dunban on
the fallen arm's beach
? Yeah, he rules. I'd totally have him as my main character in Smash.

There's one thing about Riki's introduction that makes it so much more funny if you notice it. You know how the party bounces him around like a ball? Yeah. That's a valid volleyball play.

Riki is best Heropon volleyball.

We're going to see something related to Xenoblade, but it could be just a stage or an assist trophy. The Boxing Ring was revealed months prior to Little Mac too.

I hope it's actually Shulk, though.
 
It's worth noting that the stream says the video will be 3 minutes, which is fairly long compared to most character reveals we've gotten. Only Palutena's video was 3 minutes, Rosalina's was around 2:40, the rest average out at around 2 minutes.

I'm excited to see what they're going to fill that time with.

Either a lengthy CG/animated portion, a lot of gameplay to show off a unique mechanic or a veteran reveal as well.

Well like you yourself noted, Palutena's was around that length and only confirmed her. Hopefully it'll be like Greninja, though, where we also get a veteran.

They could easily get a few veteran reveals out of the way.
 
Man, the more I think about it the more I feel that shulk was suppose to be a super surprise, like, throughout smash 4 marketing, all the characters we know are going to be in or we hope will be in have gotten something in a screenshot or video, like a AT or a stage or a item from their game, whathaveyou, but we have gotten absolutely 0 references to xenoblade being represented in anyway in smash, to let us know that sakurai even know it exists, or we do know sakurai know it exists thanks to that picture he tweeted out a year ago but still, shulk was def suppose to be a shocking out of nowhere character that everyone was going to get hyped about if it wasent for the leak.

I suppose that's the drawback to letting Namco develop the game. it's harder to keep them under wraps than it would be 100% Nintendo employees.
Still, I'm just glad he's going to be in the game at all. Xenoblade needs all the representation it can get!

Having a playable character basically guarantees the rest of that. In Brawl every franchise represented with a playable character also got a stage, music, and an AT. Items are the only iffy one.

Personally I think the AT is almost certainly Riki, but I would love any of the characters. (Of course "Reyn Time" would be the best, but only if he said it). The stage could be anything and I am pretty pumped to see what they pick.
