Next Gen Bond game coming

Next year's James Bond game from EA Redwood Shores will be based on the next movie from Sony/MGM pictures, Casino Royale. CR will be the first Bond movie in over four years and the first one since Sony bought MGM. This will also coincide with the release of the Sony PS3. Additionally, the movie will premiere the newest James Bond and will be directed by Martin Campbell (who directed Goldeneye). The game will have direct ties with the making of the movie including the actors, director, the script and all the marketing. The game will be released day and date with the movie and will be one of EA's top five games for 2006 and a huge Christmas release for the industry.

We are looking for the top talented people in the industry to work on the next gen platforms -PS3, Xbox360 and Nintendo Revolution.

...

If it is a FPS it will be the best on Revolution, no question.

Man who would have thought NINTENDO would be making the best FPS console of the three? :lol

Can they ever make a Bond game that lives up to GoldenEye (for the 64 that is - not that other game that they made)?

Probably not. Would be cool if Mircosoft threw some money EA's way for a Xbox exclusive Bond game developed by Rare.

Wouldn't really be the same. From what I remember alot of RARE split up after that, some to Free Radical, and some to that company that still hasn't release da game. EA could just have Free Radical develop it so they can keep it multiplatform. The TS games have been great, and kind of GE-ish but the setting, theme and art are about as far away from GE as you can get. So giving them a Bond game and letting them back into that world could result in something great.

That would be stupid. Free Radical are on a record at the moment, I would hate to see them ruin a good track record when working with EA. EA would make limitations of what they would like to see and what they don't, in doing so you'd lose a lot of Free Radical's flair.

Free Radical are working on a next-generation title regardless, and new IP also. So, should be fasicating once that's announced.

What limitations? The limitations would be that its a Bond title, as long as they stuck to it being that I doubt EA would have a problem with what they did.

The lack of freedom. EA aren't well-known for well organised titles. You look at the differences between say Need for Speed Underground 1 & 2 and the two latest Burnout titles on home consoles and you'd realise that the changes are very minimal. They would be locking Free Radical into a schedule where they would want to release on the movies' release rather than having the flexibility to experiment with ideas.

That's why I hate EA so much. They understand the potential of developers, the amount of money they produce and want to milk that as much as possible with little change from release to the next.

I'd think it would a silly move if Free Radical went that way, in my opinion, it would hurt their creativity greatly.

Oh they'll definetly be on a schedule since they need it to be ready for the movies release. But that's not to say they have to do this one. There are going to be other Bond games and the games won't be based off upcoming movies, it could be an original Bond (like EoN) or a past Bond (like FRWL). So they could potentially have time depending on if they went that way.

I'd like to see EA let EuroCom do another Bond. I thought they did a great job with TWINE and Nightfire. They aren't as good as GE, but they're still great.

Casino Royale? A remake of that rather crappy Bond movie, the only one the Broccoli brothers didn't make?
Uh.. its a Bond movie based on a book like many Bond films. Casino Royale in the 60's was a mock-Bond movie.

No question? LOL... Who is this joke character?

You know, it's really sad that EA has run the bond franchise into the ground. I think Casino Royale could be good if EA gets free radical or criterion to develop it. Their in house stuff ranges from mediocre to poor.

He's still right, the mock-Bond movie was still equally, if not more, crappy! :lol

Control wise Rev is the closest to mouse and keyboard out of any consoles Mouse and keyboard>>>>>>>>>>Traditional control for FPS's.

You really expect most FPS's to take advantage of that? They almost never do.

I'll get Unreal for PS3 and Halo 3 for my 360(will get 360 when Halo 3 is out) but I expect traditional console control for both as the only type.

Not saying it will, but you said the the Rev version will be the best version of Bond. You said the Rev version would be the best, even though there is a possiblity that the PS3 version will have keyboard/mouse support.

There's nothing stopping devs from doing mouse/kybd on 360 either. It's their choice to support or not.

How so? With the nunchuck config, you're still essentially using 2 analog movements. One for aiming and one for walking. If anything, a standard controller is closer to the WASD/mouse combo then the nunchucks are.

Nintendo said that they didn't want to compete with Sony and Microsoft. But getting the same game as the competition...isn't that called competing?

I don't think that EA is going change their games too much for the Revo controller. Maybe not at all...

How will it work? It has only one analouge stick.

You point with the revmote, and move with the analogue on the nunchuk. (You could theoretically move forwards and backwards with only the pointer, too... Not sure how that would work out in practise, though.) That's more closer to the WASD/mouse combo than a dual analogue controller in my opinion.

SolidSnakez: Heh, I just saw that episode of Conan. For less than a minute ago :) Yes, it's broadcasted a lot later here in Sweden. You know, I'm originally from Finland, and it's funny as hell with all the Finland-jokes :D

Let's see if it gets censured here too: Cocksock ;)

Well, back on topic! Great to see that some FPS are finding there way to the Revolution, i bet they will be wonderful to play with the Revmote.

Yeah it is. I was just saying if EA doesn't take advantage of the revmote and it is a FPS there is no way to put it on the console. Unless they do N64 style control.

1. Casino Royale has never been officially made. Just some lame Austin Powers type spoof.
2. Its the first and best Fleming novel.
3. There are no "brothers". There was just Cubby Broccoli, and now his daughter.

How on gods green earth can you even try to claim that a dual stick controller is closer to a mouse and keyboard then what is in effect an air based mouse (Revolutions controller)?..

After reading that Goldeneye design document I don't think the game could be topped even if the same team gave it a shot with a bigger budget. And IIRC the writer said that they would never design a game in that way again. A shame, really.

I stand corrected :)

Note to myself: Don't talk about things you don't know...
