You need to read my posts then, I know Dolby Vision. The tweets talks about both.
Sony could have chose to support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, along with Dolby Atmos and DTS-X on PS4 Pro.

They chose not to. It likely adds cost.

Sony have not indicated if they will or will not support any of these on PS5. Gotta wait and see.

They didn't say anything, so we don't know if they chose to. HDR10+ is open-source, free, but Sony TV's don't support HDR10+, only HDR10 and Dolby Vision. So it's more than likely they'll support Dolby Vision but not sure about HDR10+.

Digital Foundry even sepculate that Series S would have to run that UE5 demo at 720p 30.
And geometry throughput with both the Series X and S will be lower too because of the I/O speed. I know I keep saying this but I don't think constantly streaming in and shading roughly about 20 million triangles PER FRAME with that kind of I/O speed and architecture is even possible, this is why I think the UE5 demo running on PS5 will be the highest fidelity version for a while. When you’re streaming in triangles from the SSD as fast as the PS5, they need to be shaded/rasterized just as fast as well. A higher GPU frequency literally means faster rasterization performance and cache management/bandwidth, there’s a reason Epic picked the PS5 to show off that demo at the highest fidelity possible.

Agreed. Thankfully Sony 1st party devs will be unrestrained from the limits of other hardware. PS5 exclusives will be incredible.

As a former QA person, I think this job is understated with how deep the job can be, because there those people who see the big picture and running it as it's being shipped to the customer, that's where the shitty performance is caught, because nor artist, not engine devs/technical directors really see the whole picture. However since I was also in team with absolut idiots, hard to say where this person belongs.
It can be very deep, but it's an entry level job with shallow requirements. That means that average quality is meh at best.
If you are smart and can see a global picture (that are few) it's a good place to start, but obviously such people don't stay in QA too long usually.

QA teams have tiers, like to test whenever game is good for public, if it's fun. And then those technical fields and I actually studied pretty hard for that. iwas doing menus which were scrapped and I was offered position of someone who is sitting just below technical engineres and try to break things or fin broken things and then I had to in technical terms said them what happened. Because you have that overlay with profiler, etc. However it was insufficient the size of the team and budget so that's why the release was like it was. Also the Cry engine is tough one. Kingdom Come Deliverance if interested. Was fun tho. And certainly I refrain for many of the edgy takes about technological side of things without knowing how it was conducted, because sometimes you get absolutely insane bugs. Which is very hard to solve, so if you do not know the answer and some person above you does not have the time, you go to code...etc.

But fair to say, XSS has it's issues which are apparent even with BC.

I am business apps QA (former), but I have some friends in gamedev and from my knowledge it pretty much the same there.
It really tiers and people who are capable go for higher tiers. I went from QA to BA to PM to desk quant. And people who stay in lower tier are either incapable (no offense) or rare enthusiast.

It's just bullshot, current gen support HDR10, now we should expect both to support Dolby Vision and probably HDR10+ as well. Sony's sound solution is much superior to Atmos, so it's not gonna happen in PS5, they'll support all kinds of headset without the need of fake 3D simulation of 7.1 channel.

Considering the TV (X900H) that Sony is hocking as their PS5 TV, which supports Dolby Vision, etc., it will more than likely support it as well, if not at launch then down the line.

The 12bit color MS and Dolby are hocking (atm) is just BS, since there are zero panels (for now) that support 12bit.

Nah it's fine, back then I start to feel the effect of failing liver, so it was never a huge gig to begin with. It was more like a side job through friends.

I'm really looking forward to some breakdowns on next Gen multiplat games and conparisons. I have a feeling that the efficiency of Sony hardware and what thy have done is going to do wonders and ppl will be shocked with the results and verdicts in comparisons.
It's like RGT said :
XSX and PS5 multiplats could have slightly different look.
-XSX higher native resolution, more RT
- PS5 higher poly count, less LOD , higher textures

But things are getting more and more exciting because right now i clear that all multiplatforms and PC/xbox exclusives will be held back by low-end PCs and XSS. They've just canibalize XSX, with XSS, and reduced it's meaning to resolution box.

And PS5 exclusives are held back by nothing.

And that's more than 2TF can buy.

Sony didn't aim for power, in my view, but for speed, efficiency, low-latency and new features.

Yup, it's in my radar as well. 12-bit is MS bullshit, it's only 40Gbps chip on XSX, not full 48Gbps. But Dolby Vision could support I think even up to 16-bit and 10,000 nits, not sure though. Emitting 12-bit is wonderful, it's like JPG from a raw photo, it'll always be better than native JPG. And in the future we should see 12-bit panels, some say Samsung QNED should be the first next year.

Because there's nothing worth talking about, from either side.

Theres no megaton announcements

Demon souls being a release game maybe........other than that both are bland as fuck

(Launch games)

Spider-Man is a huge launch title. The first was said to have sold somewhere around 15-20 million copies. That’s far more than any current Xbox IP’s including Halo.

And Miles has been massively popular ever since Into the Spider-Verse came out so this new title will make crazy sales.

Casual audiences are gonna eat it up.

How is Ray Tracing affected in Series S? I remember people taking about Ray Tracing being affected by the number of CU's, so with 20 CU, it will be considerably worse than Series X and even PS5 ray tracing.

Does ray tracing scale in the same way 4k to 1440p resolution does? I would think not, so will we see lesser quality ray tracing even at a 1440p?

sorry, I missed this quote.
if you watch the leaked video ( ) not only it says "under development", there is also this city flyby...
I dont think they are just showing what happens to standard spiderman disk there.
when ps5 is out you can pop the og spiderman disk in and check yourself.

Yeah, the flyby part isn’t but the fast travel looks to be the game.

Except when Sony chose to share PS5 specs, they only went so far as to confirm 4K 120, 8K, and Tempest. Nothing about any other video or audio features. No HDMI 2.1 features other than VRR.

The PS4 Pro didn't support any of the standards for 3D audio or HDR video that it could have, besides HDR10.

I assume Sony will reconsider supporting Dolby Vision, Atmos, DTS-X because the PS5 has a UHD BD drive. Many 4K movies use those formats/standards. And Xbox has confirmed they'e suppoting all of it, along with all HDMI 2.1 features like ALLM and FreeSync.

But the PS5 digital won't be used for 4K UHD BD playback so the PS5 will likely be de-emphasizing home cinema use and focusing on gaming.

So until Sony confirm it, I assume its not coming.
