Probably the most lazy next gen patch released so far, PS5 is practically running PS4 Pro version with fixed resolution. There's even a quality mode on XSX not present on PS5, alike other games running on BC.
Xbox fanboys are trying so hard to make hay from this patch at every chance; any scrap they can get to justify their purchase these days.

Xbox Series S|X Is a ‘F*cking Confusing Name’, Swears Josef Fares

I don't really care about consoles. I care about games. Of course I wish we could have looked more into the new consoles [for It Takes Two]. I'm just happy they are more powerful, because it takes a lot of time when a console is not really powerful enough, but what I like about the new generation is that they are powerful, that we can focus on them. But to be honest with you, they came in so late in our production – of course it's going to look better on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but we didn't really have the time to adjust them and make the PS5 version special, or the Xbox blah blah… Whatever they call the Xbox Series.

That's a f**king confusing name. What the f**k's going on with Microsoft? They're losing it, man. What the f**k is going on? Like Series S, X, Mex, Next. I mean, who knows this? Come on. Madness. Call it the Microsoft Box and that's it. I don't know. It's a total f**king mess. Trust me, even them, they're confused in their offices. What is this X, S... I don't know, what the f**k.

😂🤣😂

Getting games late is exclusive of Series S|X.

But you still have VRR and Gamepass.

And even being Lazy patch you can see the deficiencies of Series X... it can’t hold up the resolution and needs drops to 1080p while PS5 comfortable runs at mininum 1200p.

The patch should unlock the PS5 resolution to run between 1200-2160p.

So why do we think Sony has been so closed with giving too much information out on the finer points of the PS5?
They only really seemed to push areas they thought the PS5 might have an advantage in (Tempest, clocks, IO speeds) and very little else.
Its not like MS can copy any of it.
If, and thats if, the PS5 has a shared L3 cache in its CPU, why wouldn't Sony have told us? They would have known all the specs of the XSX well before MS released it, so they would have known the XSX has a traditional L3 cache.
And why has it taken so long to get any sort of die xray etc?
I really am interested to see if the PS5 has a shared L3 cache, if the CUs are the exact same size as the XSX, and any other differences there might be.

In hindsight i feel it was kinda smart to hold out on technical specs and in depth information about the PS5. i feel that Microsift would have liked to make this battle about TF and memory bandwith. Because on raw technical data the series x would blow the ps5 out of the water. We did not hear anything else from our boys in redwood than PR talk about velocity architectures and being the fasted and most powerfull box. They would have loved Sony to try and respond on these kind of numbers and data. Instead Sony tried to focus on games and immersion. While Microsoft was still shouting the 12 Tf numbers and tried to recover from the shitshow that was their showcase in june. Sony dropped, miles morales gameplay, showed demons souls and so on...

I like that shit too, way to much even. But Sony is turning the discussion away from hardware numbers. And more about why PS5 is the best place to play your next gen games. Most consumers give ass about how many CPU cores thier playstation has. it just needs to run great games.

In comparison MS has been pretty open.
Maybe because the XSX has alot of tech that can be adopted in both AMD and Nvidia cards and so they are happy to promote them?
They have given metrics for VRS, Direct Storage, Sampler Feedback Streaming, Direct ML, while showing demos of their Mesh Shaders at work.
Obviously this is all Direct X 12 U tech that they want everyone to adopt.
This is the only reason I can think of for the different approach.

Q: Didn’t you test old-gen consoles to keep tabs on the experience?

A:
We did. As it turned out, our testing did not show many of the crashes you experienced while playing the game. As we got closer to launch, we saw significant improvements each and every day, and we really believed we’d deliver in the final day zero update.

I would have liked Sony to have talked about the tech more but I can't say I'm disappointed with the PS5s performance in games. If the PS5 was a broken underpowered console that's embarrassing for Sony to Talk about in great detail it would have showed by now.

I honestly believe Sony just has a different philosophy when it comes to games than Microsoft does.

Absolutely. We all thought coming into this next gen that both consoles would be nearly identical, when in reality they are very different. Im excited to see what effect these differences have in game when both consoles are getting their feature sets used.
Like when XSX has games made from the ground up using Mesh Shaders, VRS, SFS, SSD IO, ML etc, just how will they look.
Same goes for PS5 and whatever secret sauce they haven't told us about.
I'm really interested to see how Forza 8 and GT7 compare. Both have top of the line studios developing them, built from the floor up to be NG exclusive, and both will tap into everything that is available.
This should tell us alot.

I don't know if they are that different in peformance. So far the results have shown that they are pretty much on par with each other. I'm not expecting one platform to suddenly become twice as powerful as the other. If there was a big gap between the two it would have shown itself by now.

Who said anything about twice as powerful? No one said the XSX was 100% more powerful than the PS5. The original Xbox wasn't 100% more powerful than the PS2.

Trolls straight up saying that the XSX would be 60FPS while the PS5 only 30. While most knew it was asinine trolling, there are a sad bunch who actually buy into it.

Jason Schrier said that 14 out of the 20 lead designers left naughty dog during the dev on TLOU2 and it ended up selling 4 million in 3 days and is by far the biggest GOTY winner of the year. It means nothing.

People leave companies all the time. Especially in LA. A lot of these companies are literally in the same Santa Monica area right outside LA and they all poach talent from each other all the time. I believe Respawn, Infinity Ward, Sony Santa Monica, Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog are all located within a dozen miles of each other.

Oh and Hollywood is in LA too. I remember Jason Rubin at a GDC conference talking about how he built ND into an AAA studio and he said he basically went after hollywood artists who would typically end up at CGi studios.

Thank you for further illustrating my point.

All I see are Sony fans scouring Twitter to find someone to argue with. No one with any sense said the XSX would be 100% more powerful than PS5 especially recently. Who cares what was said before the consoles came out. It was never realistic and both console were always going to perform similarly.

They have the same RAM, the same CPU, and minor differences in the GPU. You can't find any comments from someone with sense making the point you claim. Not Phil Spencer, not Jason Ronald, and not even from the hated Aaron Greenberg. If Phil comes out saying 100% performance improvement in XSX over PS5 let me know. I'd like to see it.

If you don't believe it yourself why do you keep defending these people?

Also incase you didn't notice I was talking about my expectations. No idea why you dragged other people into this.

LOL. I had forgotten about this idiocy. I kept expecting to see this guy walk it back and acknowledge his mistake. At least I ASSUMED it was a mistake and he had meant AT MOST seeing a 40 PERCENT difference (still ridiculous, but far more likely than 40 more FPS!) but it never happened. Guess he got his clicks and views and that's all that mattered!

Actually plenty of Xbox fans brought twitter into this thread. They quoted people like Blue, Astal, Xbox news, dealer and Colt plenty of times. I know some playstation guys do this as well but I find it funny either way.

Well at least he's right about something. That the Series X is 100$ more than the PS5 DE.

At this point in gaming, you should have quality and quantity. There’s so much money made they should be bombarded with choices across all genres. The focus of their pr is always power and specs. That’s why the angst is starting to boil over. The narrative was Sony will have great performing first party games made for ps5 and everything else will be better on series x. Like it was such a given and matter of a fact throw out there line. Yet here we are reversed on multiplat and Sony still has that first party slated to be in abundance this year and probably every year. That’s why all of a sudden, you’re seeing so many posters that have traditionally been on x as their only platform suddenly all have ps5 as well. They want to make sure they can buy all the better multiplats on either system. So they paid inflated prices on eBay to secure one.

Before, they didn’t need to have a ps5 because apparently Sony only makes 3rd person story driven games. But now, Theyre outperforming on the multiplat so a ps5 is necessary. The only problem Sony has right now is the faulty hardware. 1 out of 5 consoles has a hardware problem and needs to be returned. The other 80% have hardware problems too but they’re being hidden to disguise the overclock overheating problems. It’s gonna be an interesting year and an even more interesting console gen.

The other 80% have hardware problems too but they’re being hidden to disguise the overclock overheating problems. It’s gonna be an interesting year and an even more interesting console gen.
1 out of 5.. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Where have you got that figure from?

Didn't you tell me you followed Dealer?

If you don't believe it yourself why do you keep defending these people?

Also incase you didn't notice I was talking about my expectations. No idea why you dragged other people into this.
Even your quote from a dude on Twitter who does NOT work for MS doesn't claim that there will be a 100% performance delta. On top of that Dealer actually has a PS5 which makes him more of a game fan than one talks about a system them don't own. You guys are fighting phantoms. Also check the date on the post you listed. The beginning of last year.

Or they just make people to skip the game completely

I dont buy games which come day1 on game pass, because why pay for a game if devs say it is not worth more than pennies on one platform.

Or at least it is not fair to ask more than 5€ from it on other platforms, as they are willing to give it out for so cheap.

Timed exclusives dont matter to me, as I rarely waste money to day1 when buying used or waiting for price drops saved 20-80% easily.

I have never met a gamer whom would buy platform they dont want/like just to play 1 game that doesnt come to theirs.

Because if xbox would have enough good games for personal taste, Playstation gamers would already have it, right? And vise versa

So only thing they gain is less sales, not people buying xbox for a game
I support day one purchases as it encourages innovation and polish on AAA titles. If everyone took your stance and waited for the discount the quality and budgets of AAA titles will diminish.

Dealer is a fake PS5 owner to be honest. He's known to fabricate misinformation on the console. No sane person would call him a PS5 fan. Also claiming a 30FPs advantage is like saying the PS5 would run the game at 30FPs while the Series X would run it at 60FPs. In order to obtain an advantage like that the system needs to be a lot more powerful than the other. Which is what we are not seeing in these comparisons.

What do you mean...theres...there’s a poll.

Ohh well you should ignore that.. there are a lot of sack sacks in here who will vote for the most negative option just because they have a strong dislike for Platform X or Y. Obviously works both ways.

But it certainly shouldn't be a taken as a representative sample :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Quick question. Who would have more credibility with regards to the Xbox? Jason Ronald and Phil Spencer OR a dude on Twitter? You can attack random dudes on Twitter all day but perhaps the big issue is who we go to for info. It's like I wouldn't go to the huge Sony fans here for objective Xbox info.
