Is someone going to make a FUD bingo chart or something?

They should just blame themselves. Theres no reason to choose a side. If the product is ass then take the fucking money elsewhere. Got no sympathy for them. Lmao

It would be cool to make a FUD list for the XSX, to be honest the only things that could have been considered FUD that I can remember ended up being true like the XOne holding back the XSX and the fact that the console won't have any big first party games for the first year or so.

  • Developers are choosing to ‘throttle back’ the GPU on PS5, as it can’t run their games properly/consistently

These waves of anti-PS5 FUD are seriously maddening at this point. Why are people so against the console?
Fanboys hate the fact that despite how Series X has a slightly more powerful GPU, it's just not getting the credit it deserves.

How's this. Series X is a very powerful machine and Game Pass will be a great bargain for some gamers. Full stop.

Unfortunately that statement is not enough. They can't understand that power isn't everything, and just because the system you choose has the best overall pixel pushing grunt, doesn't mean it's the best. Notice how fanboys never bring up specs when it comes to Nintendo. They're fully aware how Nintendo brings down the first-party hammer, but somehow that doesn't apply to Sony? Also, they get irked by the notion of the PS5 having some architectural advantages (SSD, I/O, geometry engine, tempest engine, maybe others?).

Everyone is talking about the PS5 cause Sony sure as shit isn't. Creates a lot of buzz. Hell, even Phil Spencer and other Xbox employees have talked about the PS5. Think about it. You've got your competition talking about you. All this talk is working in Sony's favor. Team Xbox needs to zip it and start showing the Series X goods already. It's driving Xbox fanboys mad.

"Dusk Golem has said that he did come out with that info to try and even out the playfield after the recent Sony and MS news, because he felt bad for the Xbox fanbase. He felt things were too one sided". He mentioned this both on Ree and his tweet. LOL at "console warring is stupid" but let me balance the ship in favor of the poor xfans with my FUD take :messenger_tears_of_joy:

XSX NO-FUD LIST so far :
1. XSX being held back by currentgen
2. XSX has no exclusives on launch

All based on facts so Far 😲

I don't understand the significance of using liquid metal.

Will this have a positive impact on, say, the PS5 running quieter than the PS4 (mine sounds like a jet engine about to take off)? Or mean the machine is less likely to have heat problems?
Using liquid metal is something just most enthusiast PC gamer do (is not the same but similar enough), this helps a lot to your cooling
this basically reaffirm than Sony create a incredible solution for the colling for be a console.

With this kind of solution if you other parts are good enough means you basically don't have a heat problem.

I want how good is this cooling solution against a top tier of Noctua (without cooling solution) of PC.

I mean just imagine if sony had the more powerful machine. IT would basically be game over. It's the one argument that is a safety net for the majority of xbox fans.

I personally don't care about the power, just the games, look at that Got game, its a marvel, a work of art, on a shitty specced machine.

Even if the ps5 was 6 tflops image the difference with all the new hardware, it would be incredible.

I don't understand Microsoft business strategy of selling premium hardware and supporting it with budget content.
A customer welling to pay premium on hardware is likely to expect a premium content.

You are so correct on this. They need to start showing games running on the actual system after all that bragging about the systems power. People want to see what the Series X is capable of. If Sony showed gameplay on the PS5 they should do the same with the Series X. It really isn't much to ask for.

Old FUD list posts

- Sony is broke
- PS4 has no games
- PS4 Pro catching on fire
- PS5 Pro Overheating
- Spider-Man PS4 puddle gate
- Mark Cerny made changes at the last second because they were caught off guard by Microsoft
- RDNA 1 and not RDNA 2
- Cerny lying about HW RT
- PS5 won't have VRS
- PS5 won't have ML\DLSS like features
- SSD won't do anything but load games faster
- Difference between both consoles are staggering.
- PS5 will throttle based on room temperature.
- It's really a 9TF console instead of 10.2TF
- Sony using COVID as an excuse to drop out of gaming events because they're scared to show off their weaker hardware.
- PS5 will struggle in open world games.
- Spider-Man MM is DLC that can run on the base PS4 console
- The Last of Us Part II delay was a result of internal problems and not COVID.
- Unreal 5 demo was running on a laptop at 1440p and above 30fps on a laptop with a weaker SSD
- Every time PS4 exclusive game sales well, it sales poorly because of attach rate.
- Exclusives don't matter, it's all about the best version of multiplats.
And...

- Is the SSD speed constant or is variable?
- "I'm looking at a difference of 30-40fps"
- PS5 was suppose to be released in 2019
- Sony is having heat issues and they will delay the release to 2021 because they don't want to make a console that looks like a towel like MS.

I guess their strategy will work long term if they can get millions of people with there phones to be able to play on games pass.

Not this generation but next, i really feel that this will bethe last time Microsoft make hardware, they want that app everywhere. TVs phones, tablets.

Just like net flicks you get some good stuff, Ozark, Better call Saul, mindhunter etc then there is some damn awful stuff, tones of absolute garbage. i feel that's kinda xbox. quantity over quality.

But for the masses maybe it works.

If they find more value in gamepass and slightly higher tf then more power to them. But dont be getting mad trying to downplay the competition when theyre serving up crow and MS failing to deliver. Its all on themselves.

For the first point you need to be more precise the demo can run, the quality or framerate to do it it is not necessary the same. Or just say
that in that video with EPIC devs in China the demo was been playing not running in a laptop.

The second and third are not FUD itself, not because he used that bullshit means necessary is FUD, is just bullshit knows also as PR.

The last one if not FUD, is just a youtuber who did a very stupid thing and still want to be respect as impartial.

I said this in a post yesterday about the difference between MBG vs Timdog.

When you've spent 7 years practically starving for games to play on and you see the other side fill up their bellies with exclusive GOTY contender games... It'll breed jealousy and envy. And that jealousy and envy has been stewing and fermenting for 7 years.
As much as they don't want to ever admit this to themselves but when all they've had is mediocrity in these last few years compared to the glory of the previous 360 generation, they haven't comprehended that things have changed around, and that they're no longer the big dog.
Real funny thing is that PS3 and 360 were about even in the end.

But it boils down to the differences in 1st party line ups as much as they give Sony shit for 'Cinematic' games.

Microsoft has given them Halo 5, Gears 5, ForzaM 7 and ForzaH 4, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and 2 Ori games.

Sony has produced Infamous 2nd Son and 1st Light, Driveclub, Bloodborne, The Order 1886, The Last Guardian, Shadow of The Colossus remake, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted Collection, Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy, God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us 1 and 2, Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and a bunch more I can't be bothered to list.

This is why, as much as they want to whine, defend their machine and spread FUD... My default answer will always be "Got games?"
Because no matter how much they want to spin the narrative, I won't lose any sleep over what they say because I can sit in my living room, switch on my PS4 Pro. And play a goddamn game of quality that I know Sony can provide.

How can there be fud about the XSX? If it's all reasonable questions?? Such as why in two showcases. Are all your game footages from a PC. "representative of XSX performance" is not confirmation on anything it is more worrying actually. There's no XSX captured footage ,No next gen games , no games with RT. You can't talk about power & most powerful console ,12 TF, RT, 52 CU's and never show us the results running on the hardware you hype.

This is all red flags. Somethings up with this box. We cant give them pass. You judge people on their actions not words. Xbox & the "insiders" were talking up Halo since last year , never showed it throughout the year, no screenshots , held back on showing anything Halo. When it was time to showcase Halo it looked terrible. This ain't the first time xbox disappointed after talking big. There is no reason to believe anybody on what xbox has or may do. Until they actually show us proof. They never match the talk the results are often sub par & disappointing.

"representative of XSX performance" That is not a good sign.To me that looks damage control. Its a disclaimer because the final product isn't as good. Just as the "optimised for XSX" badge was to sell the bs of games scaling. I don't see FUD. I see reasonable questions. We would not have these question if the product actually did what was advertised. If Xbox had all this power they would be quick to flaunt & market all these features in a heartbeat. But all we get is talk & PC footage.

you are a god damn star.
I was looking for those

No problems at all. My own OCD was kicking-in as well.

I don't think these have been re-listed anywhere, but I've also heard from my die-hard xbox fan friend:

SONY have opted for a seperate kernel, with a sandbox emulator code for ps4. This gives two massive problems. 1. everygame needs to be rewritten for the new kernel. 2. all peripherals have their own seperate security check. Meaning that ps4 controllers can only function in that sandbox and dont have access to the ps5 kernel. The same as nintendo did with a sandboxed gamecube emu on the wii.

Prime example.... remember custom fw on psp and ps3? All looked bloody similair to the stock fw. With some minor tweaks here and there. There was a reason. If they changed too much, it wouldnt work. As it was locked to the kernel. Imagine like an onion, The kernel is the centre which can never be changed. the outer layer is the stuff you can change like selecting buttons. each layer inbetween become less user, and more rigid as you go down. the gui runs though it all like veins. since a game needs to access the central stuff, it needs to be able to work through that maze flawlessly. change 1 thing to much... it all comes crashing down. So, PS5 having this new OS menu that pulls down live stats and launches into multiplayer lobbies instead of launching the game and then the multiplayer mode, its at the expense of BC so it had better be amazing.

- PS5 has no "mesh shaders" (is this the same as the "no VRS" bullet point?)

- PS5 has changed kernel, thus cannot do native BC, each game has to be tested individually. The current ps now isnt compatilble with ps5 kernel. They would need to write a whole new ps now code for the new kernel; which means more cost to you to cover it. The streaming will work, downloading games running on an emu wont (so no downloading of PS3 titles from PSNow, like GP does).

- DualSense doesn't use DirectInput, thus dualsense will be limited just to ps5 and if a whole new input, means they cant use standard manufacturing for the control board, adding massively to the costs. £80-100 controller costs.

ok guys, need some help with the fud list.

As you know i am not technical, anything that needs replacing or if there is anything more you can think of in terms of bullshit that has been spouted.

Here is the shortlist. copied, pasted, stolen, robbed, anymore you guys can think off

  • PS5 lacks hardware-accelerated ray tracing
  • Ray casting audio support only
  • PS5 will have virtually no launch games; Series X will have an abundance of AAA games from the get-go
  • PS5's GPU is based on RDNA -1, developed by Roblox user xXAiden-x2005Xx while on work experience at Sony HQ. Bosses ran with the idea because lack of funds
  • Cerny boosted the clocks in a last-ditch response to Xbox. PS5 is secretly a 9 TFlop machine.
  • PS5 is having fabrication difficulties; not enough units at launch
  • PS5 BoM is rising beyond control. Might cost upward of $600.
  • PS5 is overheating, continually crashing, and engineers are scrambling to fix the problem
  • PS5 is hard to develop for, almost PS3 levels of incompetence
  • PS5 has trouble reaching native 4K
  • PS5 was overclocked at the last minute
  • PS5 boosts to 10.3tflops only, its 'base clock' is 9tflops, Cerny lying
  • Devs are having a nightmare making games for it
  • Xbox 4000 games at launch, Ps5 only 100.
  • The console is twice as big as Series X (fake measurement)
  • Sony paid Tim Sweeney to say PS5 is a game-changer
  • The tunnel in unreal engine 5 was needed for loading, rubbish SSD.
  • UE5 demo was running on a Chinese laptop no problem
  • PS5 is struggling with RE8 @ 1080P/30fps xbox 4k 60
  • PS5 struggles with 4K games#
  • Spider-man: MM is an expansion pack
  • Sony is trying to money-hat big 3rd party games as they are scared of Digital Foundry face-off
  • Craig looked bad because of the lighting
  • PlayStation exclusives all coming to pc.
  • Exclusives are anti Consumer
  • Alex continuously spread uncertainty about the ps5 ray-tracing capabilities even after the second wired article confirming it was hardware-based.
  • Controller to heavy
  • Battery life is less than Ps4
  • Phil De'spencer says single-player games like horizon zero dawn don't have the same impact anymore.
  • The PlayStation 5 SSD Will Not Change Open World Games Dramatically Alexander Battaglia
  • People's fingers hurting so much for short play
  • Lightbar causing extra heating, people sweating.
  • Dolphin game dev said he could only get 120fps on XSX while PS5 is just 60fps,
  • Phil Spencer: ”I felt good after the PS5 show
  • Sony is not our Competition
  • Sony produces Cinematic walking only simulators, once and down, no game-play games.
  • Quantum error struggles to hit 30 fps at 4k in CORRIDORS, Developer responds to Tweet, actually, we are hitting 65-75 fps unoptimized, and not just Corridors.
  • Xbox era crew getting caught red-handed literally plotting strategies on how to attack the ps5
  • Alex joining the Xbox era discord crew is simply unacceptable for a DF employee

I don'r agree with this list because it doesn't belong here. I hope you make a separate thread for that.
But here is a another one. Sony rested on their laurels and they will launch a system that will overheat and they should delay PS5 to make it work properly. Even Chris Garnell kept repeating this on the latest Dealer podcast.
Not that PS% is overheating or that it should be delayed, he kept repeating Sony rested on their laurels.

Overheating was a serious concern even to the point of DKs shutting down and were super loud.

Very few people knew the cooling they had planned though at the time.

I think these rumours had some sort of truth to them, at some early point in time.

Like the overheating issue, as you've just said, this was an issue with early development kits because Sony had not gotten the thermals under control and likely because the silicon wasn't even finalised. My guess is this would have been around some time in early 2018, however this is just a guess.

As for the RE8 running on PS5 rumour, I think there is possibly two explanations. The first is that it's bullshit FUD spreading, The second is that it may have been an issue with porting the game from the PC or Series X to the PS5, we already know that the coding and programming can take a while so the graphics engine can't really take advantage of the hardware architecture until that stage is complete. This happens all the time in game developement and a good example is the Horizon Zero Dawn port to PC.

I would add that, leading up to the upcoming Gen, the spotlight is more on these two consoles than it ever has been in the past, any sort of information, good or bad is being is being aggressively sought after and both companies are doing an almost excellent job at being tight lipped.

Not sure on timings of when the DK started going out to 1st party devs that had thermals under control but many big 3rd party devs were just getting the quiet unit very first part of this year.

I still keep coming back to someone's theory of CU utilization. If the Xbox Series X is 12 TF peak (all its CUs at 100% efficiency) but in practice it's something like 40% and the PS5 is 10.2TF but with 60%, the difference is even smaller.

That has not worked out in the past as the device with the biggest TFlops performs better but Sony have customized the GPU more this time.
Could you possibly be refering to meee...
Yes a GPU with higher TF's will outperform the ones with less, this is only true for same architecture. If it's between NVIDIA an AMD with same TF's then not so clear, or new revisions of architecture like from GCN to RDNA. So theoritical peak TerraFLOPS is not the complete story, the tech behind how efficiently the GPU's CU's are kept occupied to get as close as it can to it's stated maximum TerraFLOPS has to be taken into account

Concerning the next gen consoles you must have heard something like GCN TerraFLOPS aren't equivalent to RDNA TerraFLOPS, or RDNA TerraFLOP can do a lot more than a GCN TerraFLOP, confusing or wtf huh? A TerraFLOP IS a TerraFLOP irrelevant of the hardware! For instance Microsoft have discontinued their GCN 6TF X1X to make way for the RDNA2 4TF XSS, this may sound like a downgrade but it is not. What's not been made clear is simply RDNA2 architecture is much more efficient than GCN (plus more advanced shaders and such), this means XSS can get closer to it's peak 4TF than X1X ever will... RDNA2 has better CU occupancy

Using your 'hypothetical' example that XSX has on average 40% efficiency of its peak 12.1TF and PS5 averages 60% (due to advances in hardware) of its peak 10.2TF, that would give 4.8TF for XSX and 6.1TF for PS5 on average (or real sustained TerraFLOPS). Again emphasizing this ratio is only hypothetical, still it gives a good idea of what we are seeing rendered on screen is only a fraction of the stated TerraFLOPS!
