if ps5 is 13 TFlops rdna 1 vs xbsex 12 TFlops rdna 2 would this be a visible performance difference?

I can't say so, I assumed empty Radeon VII die fully customized and the idea got debunked, people saying RDNA1 cannot support more than 40 CU. So it might end up being RDNA2, and the 13-13.3 is just a headroom for devs to work around and the retail console is 12-ish.

Because they got five kids to feed? MS and Sony can essentially customise RDNA to their advantage while not using the full fledged RDNA 2. Why would AMD want to start talking about a lower end version that’s essentially retrofitted for the consoles needs, when they have flagship gpus around the corner that use rdna 2? Was just thinking... what if Sony DID have an 8tf or 9TF machine ready to go early on but found out what the competition was cooking so they freaked and reworked their machine to be 13tf?

Should we expect the machine to be $599 or even $699 so they can try and recover all the rework in the new console?

Maybe this is what originally happened and that's why they've stopped investing in major events and have been so quiet... trying to save money where they can and figure out how big and fat they can make the price tag on this thing so they don't eat an enormous loss before they even get to the official starting line.

- PS5 will be the showcase of Samsung's HBM2 memories.
- The ultra-fast SSD is necessary because CPU and GPU will stream data directly from it simultaneously.
- Sony can reduce the CPU clock because part of the load will be handled directly by GPU.
- HBM2 is expensive but has a huge advantage on space and energy consumption (which allowed Sony to push more on GPU clock), also has better performance.
- Less CUs, higher Clock, Sony's approach to getting a cheaper GPU with high teraflops count.

Yes me too. I have been a developer for over 20 years. Not gaming or anything but before stuff. Mobile, Web backends etc etc and multiple places I have worked we have had occasional blowout days where the afternoon is very unproductive due to a few beers. Quite normal

I will buy according to my current games library. Since backwards compatability is such a big deal next gen, I can't wait to continue through my PS4 backlog next gen. I'm sure most of the other 110mil+ PS4 owners feel the same way. Especially with the new SSD tech that will speed up load times etc.
