I also left my PC running while I was out today. It captured 1 4K image every second for about an hour and a half. 4864 frames, 4.5GB. I've done three of these now and have never managed to catch a thunderstorm, heavy rain, or low lying fog. I run into them while playing but when I set up a drone to capture anything the storms seem to vanish instantly. The weather is extremely random and rare events like full out storms sometimes don't even occur during a daytime cycle.

I wish the traffic lights on Princes Street stayed permanently on green like in the last clip.....

GTS looks like a generation ahead

Can't wait to see Polyphony on PS5

GT5 only looks a generation ahead in scapes mode. Gameplay in GT5 has been shown numerous times in this thread to be very lacking in a lot of places during gameplay.

Your image of the Jaguar only helps drive home how big the difference between scapes mode and the actual game really is. The poly count on the cars looks about the same as the original Forza Motorsport on the OG Xbox, and the texture quality drops about the same amount. The lighting saves it somewhat, but even the shaders and materials look like they are from another game when you leave scapes mode.

Posting a scapes image to prove the visual quality of a racing game is about the same as flashing a cutscene from a game was in the early 2000s. Scapes looks great, but it's not in-game.

GTS: Refraction shaders of light lenses are technologies comparable to ray tracing

FORZA: Lack of refraction shader, poor technology of previous-gen
Refractive shaders have been around forever, Half Life 2 had plenty of refractive glass panels in 2004 and countless other games since. it is a nice touch but it's hardly next gen or anywhere near ray tracing.

FORZA's headlights quality are also terrible in forzavista and race photo.

FH4

GTS (NOT Scapes)
These cars could defintely fit nicely in GT7 on PS5, since PD said their models are already 8k ready and futureproofed for next gen machines......PD is always a couple of steps ahead the competition as it relates to tech, they did not pussyfoot with framerate this gen because there was no exotic hardware....If PD could do this on a 1.84TF machine and some crappy Jaguar cores...PD will absolutely cream the competition with an 18-25TF GPU and a 16 Core Ryzen...

"During a tour of Polyphony Digital’s Tokyo offices, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed to Finder.com that the car models in the game would be better-suited to whatever successor Sony has planned for the PS4 Pro.

On the tour, it’s noted that a close-up of a vehicle’s wheel reveals small, legible text. A deeper dive reveals PD has built the “Super Premium” cars to a spec beyond that of the PS4 Pro. This speaks volumes about the reputation for attention-to-detail Polyphony has.

Yamauchi revealed it takes six months to create a single car. That timeline may sound familiar as a single car in GT5 shared a similar development time. Perhaps even more interesting is the reveal that the models are “over-specced for PS4 Pro”. He upped the ante even more by suggesting it could run in 8K with no problem."

Yeah, PD isn't joking, not only has GTS been previewed at 8K on a Sony screen, but it was also displayed that rez at the full 10,000 nits as per GTS Spec on an 85" screen....Now, Yamauchi is such a trendsetter, such a tech fiend, that he still won't be satisfied with GTS's cars when he begins development of GT7 for PS5....He said GT5 premium cars were good enough for PS4 and they were excellent models, no doubt, but he improved them even more for GTS... ...Can't wait to see that lighting on PS5....

GTS (NOT Scapes)
Real car for reference:
Subaru 22B

The tail and headlight plastic effects have always looked really good in the GT series, as has the paint. Much more convincing with the interior parts becoming obscured by the plastic like on the real car. It's an almost perfect recreation. Also a good example of model errors in FH4, The light shape itself, the way the grille and the hood meet up and the space between the fog light cap are all off in Forza. The 22B is one of the worst offenders in the series as far as model accuracy goes, it's been wrong since it first showed up in the series.

The Horizon image isn't under ideal conditions for comparison as it's parked in a white panel-lit room. It looks better out in the game world, but the lights still fall short of the ones in GTS just so nobody can cry foul.

The problem is, while these models are great, they are not even close to what I see when the game is actually running, and this has been the case in the GT series for a while. While the basic mesh is the same, as the poly count drops, the cars look worse and worse, and right now the actual gameplay LOD cars in GTS are pretty rough. I'm sure PD could get things sorted with a 25TF GPU and a 16 core CPU, but realistically the chances the next consoles or even the gen after will have that kind of power at a console price is unlikely. While they wait for one, every other dev out there will also be advancing their tech and experience too. Polyphony has always had an excellent eye for cars, and their models reflect that in spades but there are a few studios that are catching up. Playground is a good example, while they trail in some areas, they have surpassed PD in a few others and they have worked on PC titles. They are not limited to console power only. The other issue is that new visual effects constantly appear that will keep the full fidelity of these future-proofed models from being used outside of modes like scape. We've already seen the effect real-time ray tracing has on the output of an RTX. It can run almost anything thrown at it at 144Hz/1440P no sweat, but with ray tracing running it drops to 30Hz/1080p. If the next gen consoles can even compete with a current high-tier gaming PC I'll be surprised. At most I expect they'll be around a 1070 / i5 equipped rig, but you never know, I might be surprised yet.

I'd rather see PD spend 3 months making a car, and put more time into tracks, gameplay, and actually making a racing game instead of what GTS is. I shit on Forza 7 more than anyone here other than maybe you, but I won't give GTS a pass on it's issues just because the cars are better modeled. While Forza Motorsports has all sorts of issues, it is still a full game. FM5 got a world of shit for being a tech demo, but even it had more content than GTS. I'm a fan of both so I 'd love to see both be better.

Boy, a brand new account was made just to show how "inferior" Forza is. Yikes......

The graphics of the cars themselves are at a point which they are all good. I feel the tracks in all the games could be better, but we will see next gen I guess.

At the end of the day, content is king, which Forza (Motorsport and Horizon) does supply tons of. Forza didn't need to release a separate "e-sports" variant when they already have multiplayer locked down. With Chris Esaki now heading Motorsport, I look forward to all the incoming updates.

Horizon 4 is the best overall graphics for the time being. End of. If they can do this on a 1.31tf just imagine what Playground Games could do on 100TF machine 1024 core machine just after 2 years not 5 and counting.
/s for the last sentence.

Alright. After recently purchasing an xbox x and put some quality time into the recent Forza series and well over 400 hours into gt sport.

Forza Horizon 4 is leagues above GT sport in almost every aspect. To have this level of graphical fidelity at native 4k is mind blowing. Although I have no idea why Playground cannot get the wheel / hand animations right.

With that being said, I found Forza 7 visuals to be extremely disappointing. Flat lighting, awful car models and the cockpit wheel animations are laughable. GT sport looks better by miles.

Forza Horizon 4 is the current king.

Scape / livery editor models are the REAL GTS models, and they will be used ingame on PS5. What you do here is just post cherry picking low lod images from standard PS4 to denigrate the game

Dude, you're back at it with scapes mode photos...it's cool that now the twist is that they will be used in gameplay for next GT on PS5 thou. I give you that.

PS: I don't care about the comparison right now, but man I missed this thread anyway lol

I know it's maybe a bit off topic, but I couldn't find anything on google. I just got an update for Forza Horizon 4.... THAT IS 60.87GB!!!!

Anyone else get an update this big? Why the hell would an update be so damn big?

Sounds like something went wrong with your install. The update yesterday was around 300MB, whereas 60GB is pretty much just redownloading the entire game. If in doubt, blame the Xbox store.

And GT will still ship with less content and much weaker critical ratings than Forza Motorsport or Horizon.

Every time I read this thread I think "all these games look insanely impressive" and as I own all formats I am lucky enough to be able to play them all.

However due to wife and kids I have limited gaming time so for my racing fix I just played the highest reviewed games that offer the most content. So that's Forza 7 sat on metacritic of 85 for my Sim fix and Horizon 4 at 92 for my arcade fix. GTS sits at 75 by comparison. Driveclub was my go to earlier in the gen and it still looks insane but the concession being the 30fps refresh.

So you are a new poster yourself, but somehow you have something against a new poster, who may hold a different view than you.....Yikes indeed....

In any case, content is indeed king, great content which has been flowing with GTS from the time of release. Speaking of content, update 1.29 just gave GTS owners some more cars and yet another track.....There's no need to remove lootcrates, it was never there, hell, getting access to cars in GTS is easy peasy....The best driving model in a racer, the best online racer atm, the smoothest menus, the best music and in-game features. Kaz just won another award for sound/audio for GTS. That's a game that excels at everything...Yes, it's not a mainline GT, but the amount of content and improvements since launch has seen no equal, except maybe Driveclub.....Come back to me, when Forza has proper pit crews, lighting and replays like GT, come back to me when it has a driving model like GT......Concede that Forza has to catch up to GT in ATD and online features too, where Forza is currently playing catchup to online features GT had from day 1 and will never match GT-Online this gen with it's crashfest type affair.......It doesn't matter if Forza has a million cars copy pasted across two studios, with a worse driving model, less ATD, inferior graphical tech...Come back to me when Forza has Toyota Road Cars, when it has SuperGT/Motorsport cars galore and caters to petrolheads and all others, by class systems etc.....GTS actually has a system in place that teaches you to drive and makes you want to improve, unlike just wanting to play another bout of (wreckfest the game).......

Driver86 = emula (Banned from GTPlanet)

gtwin = Akbizzy (Banned from NeoGAF)
You've been here since 2017 and you only have two posts and one of those you decide to call out two posters or former posters here or elsewhere. So what exactly is your contribution here? To silence posters who bring good comparisons and perhaps have a different take from you? Why don't you disprove what Driver86 and GTwin is saying here through your own shots and comparisons...Isn't that what this thread is for? or would you like this thread to be an echo chamber with no proof or disingenuos comparisons by Hage Kamo et al....I've told folk, if you want to sing Kumbaya to your favorite racer, you can do so in the respective OT and perhaps many persons of a similar persuasion will agree with you, but this here is a comparison thread, not everyone will have the same opinion or take...but this thread calls for some technical backup and evidence to weigh out the chaff opinions....So if a poster is presenting a case of what's superior with screens and video (non-disingenuos), he is actually more in-line with the focus of this thread, because he is proving his point as to what's superior. Which becomes more-inline with fact than just an opinion.....

Fact: GT has superio graphics (Cars, Foliage,Lighting, General Tech)
Fact: GT has superior ATD (Pit Crews, 3D Crowds, Particles effects, Course accuracy)
Fact: Forza has access to a higher resolution (4k etc)

Yet the truth is, high resolution is not great graphics and you will see that even clearer in future GT's when Forza and GT are at the same resolution, it's clear even now, but if you can't see it for some reason, it will get much clearer.....For the moment, Even DF, which I'm not the biggest fan of btw, said that GT has superior graphics over Forza and they were comparing a PRO to Forza7 running on an i7 8700k + Titan XP Pascal..............

A game you can actually spectate.....FIA GT Championships Final 2018...

Fact: GT Sport reviewed SIGNIFICANTLY worse than the last two Forza games.

Fact: GTS and Forza both have excellent graphics and tech and gameplay.

Fact: Despite being someone who loves great tech and racing games, and you own a high spec PC you haven't played Horizon 4 or F7...which are the highest rated racers in the last two years and have fantastic tech.
As a fan of gaming that strikes me as... Weird

Fact: You'd be a respected poster (you clearly know your stuff) if you had any semblance of balance. The fact you can't just say Forza is an amazing looking game means you (and thus your posts on here) can't be taken seriously, which is a shame.

Fact: Hilariously, since Xbox X and Horizon 4 arrived you've suddenly shifted your goalposts again to talking about how the next gen GT on PS5 is the real undisputed king. Embarrassing!

Fact: You'll ignore this post

the other trick is when a game looks so much better on the X then go back to the standard consoles as that's where the majority of people play it lol

anyway back on topic, all three of these games look good GTS Forz7 but I think at the minute Horizon 4 takes the crown

Some of you actually respond and give a min of your time to delusional war with them..it'll never end.
To be honest this thread is a lot of fun. I'm sure most people here enjoy the drama. Half the time even if you agree with certain people on a point they'll still get defensive. I especially enjoy the completely one-sided, corporate approved walls of text some people tend to post, almost like they are being paid to do so...

Again(for the 1000th time), they are back with the scape and photomode pictures, and showing older Forza's in a bad lighting condition from not the best version i guess.
The real car model that you see while playing looks like this, look at the bumper and the interior

compared to
FH4

FM7

I guess you can say "cherry picking," but the fact is that GTS does seem to produce some shockingly bad images in a number of situations (why is this? Is it the particular track? Is it the mode? Time of day?). If there was nothing to cherry pick, these bad images wouldn't be showing up in this thread. Why doesn't it always produce the glorious images that you tend to post?

Because they use every possible trick to produce bad quality images of GTS to misrepresenting the game

You really need some help, acting like this just for one game because its on PS4 is really absurd. Still can't accept the fact that all my shots are gameplay from the strongest platform. You are still trolling this thread with the same bullshit you got banned for, how sad.

I like that we're picking the cars from the Forza series that are well known to be piss-poor models. There are over 700 cars to choose from and we're straight to the 22B and the Skylines again.

There are some really good models too.

Neither of these are photomode. The first is a garage screen grab which is cheating, as all it has to render is the car and garage area so there are added effects, the second is a screen grab from replay which doesn't change anything from the game.

The aliasing in your shot is just as bad as in his, you just picked a darker color to hide it. Also, why is your shot so much blurrier?

Shame on you troll.

Because your shot is 1080p downscaled from 4K CB while mine is native 4K image output from PS4 Pro, but good try. Try harder next time, maybe you will fool someone else who doesn't own the game.

funny thing is he proved my point with the car models even with his own shot. Just look at the interior and the bumpers even in his dark scene they are much lower quality compared to Forza or even other games.

Its the same as my shot, just like @BusierDonkey said you are just using darker color to hide it. And you still proved my point, look at the low quality interior and body. You jumping from one thing to other because you played yourself with your own image where the car is much lower quality then the scape pics you post and Forza's models.
