A bit harsh don't you think? His last released project was Deus Ex 2 and he has not being able to release anything more. One failed project doesn't ruin a brilliant career.

Aside of that, I would love to be excited, I really would, but a Deus Ex without Warren Spector, Harvey Smith nor anybody from the original design team would let me cold -I still hope Eidos manages to get some of them-. Having them doesn't even grant to recover the brilliance of the first one (as we discovered in the harsh way).

But I want to believe! Prove me wrong Eidos!.

Supposedly in this issue they gave Spore 95% and Crysis Warhead a 92%, saying it was awesome, only 5 hours long though.

I would be almost as excited for this as I am for Fallout 3 (and as apprehensive). I never did play Deus Ex 2 though... will GAF please let me know if it would be worth my time to give it a play through?

The post-mortem article was pretty damning, IMO.

I never did play Deus Ex 2 though... will GAF please let me know if it would be worth my time to give it a play through?
I gave it a try ago some time after it bombed and it was every bit as bad as people said (and then some) Invisible War is a mediocre game on its own and a disgrace to the Deus Ex name.

I thought it was a fun game, but if you are a Deus Ex 1 elitist, you will probably hate it. If you go in with the thought of it being a good game, I will say yes it is.

It is a decent game, you'll probably think more highly of it if you call it something other than Deus Ex, as it won't live up to that name. Still, it is an FPS-"RPG" in the same vein (multiple paths etc.), and you won't be disappointed if you're going in looking for just that.

No. During his master class, we tried asking him on his thoughts when it was first announced, but all he did was laugh and say that he wouldn't want to say his thoughts in front of the cameras :lol

Well that's a shame, because Deus Ex has a much more satisfying end game than SS2. Which of course makes sense, it being the better game.

I'm not going to get excited about this. Who's making it, Ubi? Hmmf. IP alone does not a great game make.

Everything about it is a downgrade from the original game, but it's cut from the same cloth. Worth the disappointment if you're a fan.

Did you like Bioshock? DX2 is a deeper game, despite it not living up to DX1.

I was floored by the first game, even though the shooting mechanics were weak.

It'll be interesting to see if they try to simplify the RPG/customization elements like Bioshock.

Which means that I'll buy the next issue of PC ZONE, which actually is one of my favorite magazines (at least was a few years ago) but I stopped buying it because I kinda moved to console gaming. I need to upgrade my PC.

Deus Ex is probably the single best game that I have played in this decade. I really, really want to be optimistic for this one, but I've been burned too many times when it comes to stuff like this.

Yeah, I'm playing it right now, and they usually do that, instead of using his powerful shotgun to blow up my face, they sometime too stand in front of me to after 3 seconds they begin to attack me.

But the worst is when
you can choose to help an NSF member to escape with you
he dosn't only it's useless he is plainly stupid...., cost me a lot of tries to
make him escape with me

Well, apart form the A.I the game is awesome...

Haha that's true. Deus Ex had trouble running on my PC built in 2000, that machine could handle Sacrifice and Giants without any troubles whatsoever.

Not really sure what you mean, but in general enemies tend to forget about your presence as soon as you're out of sight etc. The game seemed to be sorta built with this bad AI in mind, but I wish the new Deus Ex would have more demanding enemies.

I think he mean, that sometimes enemies stop fighting and begin running in circles (like they trying to escape, but not very effectively)

Hmmmm... while very fashionable I am starting to find comments like this pretty stupid. Firstly, Brown/grey has been the FPS palette of choice since the Doom days. And secondly (my actual point), it's not Epic that decide the colour palette (apart from for Gears/UT), it's the devs for that particular game. It's idiots like you that reckon all UE3 can do is bald space marines(!!!1!1!!) and grey/brown landscapes. I think you confuse creative bankruptcy with technological limitations.

But yeah, DX3 will most likely be the brownest (or greyest) poo you've ever seen, and not just because of the tech, imo.

Also, this has got to be one of the most pointless threads ever - it's news that in a month's time we will have news? Yeah, nice one...

The first details on Eidos Montreal's Deus Ex 3 have been revealed, in the pages of PC Zone's landmark 200th issue.

It's out in the shops on Thursday, but PC Zone subscribers are reporting that copies of PCZ number 200 have hit doormats this morning. The cover game? Deus Ex 3 - the long-awaited return of the world's favourite nano-augmented RPG-shooter.

In essence, it looks and sounds fantastic. The art direction is a beautiful meld of the renaissance and cyberpunk (tying into the game's Leonardo Da Vinci motif) and is going for a lot more stylised look than the sort of game that comes from the Unreal Engine cookie-cutter.

It sounds like Eidos Montreal isn't leaving anything to chance; a "powerful, layered" plot is promised for the third game - which has been confirmed as a prequel set in 2027- and the dev has even drafted in the consultative talents of original writer Sheldon Pacotti, while also gaining the blessing of both Harvey Smith and Warren Spector on the project.

You're cast as average joe Adam Jensen, who works as a private security officer at a technology lab specialising in biomechanical augmentations, a forerunner to the sort of nanotechnology shown in the original Deus Ex. One day the path of his life is unexpectedly altered as a team of black ops commandos break into his company's HQ, and using a security plan from Jensen's own hand, a mass slaughter ensues and the conspiracy begins.

"Deus Ex 3's vision of the future sees holographic screens flicker atop ferries moving back and forth in front of the Shanghai skyline, now split into two layers with the rich on the top and the poor in perpetual twilight below," says PCZ.

Eidos Montreal says it's more than aware of fan reaction to controversial second game, Invisible War, and promises mistakes, such as limiting ammo types to just one, won't be repeated.

This said, they are doing their utmost to please newcomers as well as existing fans. Perhaps controversially this time around combat won't be influenced by stats, but will rely purely on your personal marksmanship skills. Instead stats will influence "a vast array of fully upgradeable and customisable weapons", and you'll be able to tailor your arsenal to your play style with mag upgrades, scopes and other add-ons.

What's more, stealth will now rely on a cover system rather than shadows, and damage will be dealt with by a very Call of Duty-style auto-heal. There's probably going to be some debate over those two.

Augmentations have been bumped up and sound fantastic. 20 have been promised for the final game, ranging from 'bungee jump' tentacles that shoot from your back and anchor to a wall when you jump off a building, and the ability to punch through walls to grab enemies in neighbouring rooms.

Deus Ex 3 certainly sounds very, very promising - if a little controversial for die-hard PC fans. And just wait until you see the shots...

Auto Heal is not that bad, as Deus Ex had a regeneration Augmentation that made med packs obsolete.

I think Heath bars are going to way of the dodo these days anyway.

Uh, that's the thing. JC Denton never had the autoheal-augmentation without using up electro charge or whatever you call it. fitting auto-heal into canon will be harder than "LOL It'S JSUT A NANO AUGMENTATION U GAIS"
