And yet NBC is covering it like some sort of controversy. Sometimes it amazes me how poorly these people who have played hockey their entire lives can convey the game to outsiders.

NBC is looking for ANYTHING to sink their hooks into that might capture the casual viewer.

I don't even care about hockey all that much, but I am feeling down.

I am pretty impressed with Boston though. Thomas be fucking hardcore.

Well, let's hope we take it in Game 7. Bet we go into some crazy OT with all sorts of shenanigans.

How about the most fucking intense playoffs in all of professional sports?
Somehow they cant get that message across to people as evident by the non Boston ratings. They are going for the LCD sensationalist headlines.

Thomas will win the Conn Smythe regardless of the outcome of the series.

Agreed, he's got the Conn Smythe in his pocket now. He deserve the cup as well, but justice is often irrelevant in sports. Canucks would be one of the worst winner ever, being outscored as badly as they have been in 6 games. :( Luongo just made a complete ass of himself by talking trash and being blown up in the next game.

Game is't over there are tow periods left. The Bruins blew a lead like this in the Tampa Series. The game is not over.

If Boston keeps it up, how many more goals will it take to see Luongo again?

He won't be back in. Once Boston gets to 8-0, Vancouver will just pull Schneider and go 6 on 5 for the rest of the game.

Remember last year with Pronger taking the pucks? They made a big deal about that too.

People don't care about these teams (well, Vancouver at least.) NBC is probably hoping it helps with the ratings a little, since they've been so down this year.

Yeah, scoring four goals in the first ten minutes is a big "fuck you" but it also leaves lots of time on the clock for the game to change. Hopefully they keep the foot on the gas, Belichick-style.

What does that mean?

Read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icing_(ice_hockey)

You can't hit the offensive player on an icing. You can go after the puck you just can't touch the guy. Vancouver player went after the player instead of the puck.

Exactly an early goal or an early pp can change that. Thomas has been godly but he gives me mini heart attacks.

ITS CLASSLESS TO RUN UP THE SCORE

Yeah but Pronger taking the pucks was hysterical. If that man wasn't the scariest hockey player ever he would be the scariest stand up comedian ever.

EDIT: Also..... classless.

Anyone have a link for the Raymond hit? I' trying to see if it's suspend able
Definitely not, it really wasn't even a hit. Just an awkward collision.

It's as good as over if our scorers continue to whiff on every chance they take. One, maybe even two, but I'm not confident that this team can get four past Thomas before the clock runs out. We've put ourselves so far from winning this one, it's sickening.

Sorry, it was low hanging fruit. But I'm trying to come up with something that would be complete ratings poison. At least if Montreal or Toronto were in, those are Original 6 teams, so there's some recognition.

Calgary/Ottawa maybe?

Ratings have been the best in years if I recall for this series in the states.
For the first game, yeah, but after they dipped quite a bit. I think last year's series overall will end up the better of the two. Two American teams and all.

Well that is to be expected anyway. Not to toot our own horn, but there aren't many bigger hockey towns here than Boston.

ugh vancouver, why must you always do everything the hard way?

if boston wins this, canucks will regret not closing the series in game 6 (like wings 2 years back)

I think any of the NE cities give you a run for your money. Detroit too.
Detroit yes.
New York, not always.
Hartford, no.
Buffalo, no.
Pennsylvania, not always.
...
Tampa Bay, YES.

I think Philly has you at any given time. Pittsburgh whenever the team isn't in default.

EDIT: O and NY too, between all the teams its just more splintered, but still just as strong.
