Ninja Gaiden 4 hits 11,217 all-time CCU peak on Steam

$70 made it an easy skip for me. Using that money to buy 3 or 4 smaller indie games this month and will get more playtime and enjoyment from those.

Be great if KT rereleased the old school Ninja Gaiden trilogy...

Basically this.

I'm a huge Ninja Gaiden fan but I'm not spending 70 euro for a mid-budget action game. I don't understand the price point.

I'm going to get it when it's around 50 on Steam.

I'm still waiting for Stellar Blade to hit that price range on PC keyshops.

As a veteran NG fan, I personally wasn't going to wait any longer to play the next mainline entry after 13 years. I'm getting my money's worth and then some.

NGB is one of my favorite games but the more I saw of this game, the less interested I became to the point of just dropping it from my list. I think it looks aggressively bad in terms of art direction and what I've seen of the level design, no thanks. DMC5 also reviewed high but I straight up hated that game because I need more than just a good combat system. If anything, I'm picking up NGII Black next when that's on deep sale.

Also, there's too much to play, limited time, not dropping $70 on a game several times per month and so on.
this. lots of fireworks, but hollow at the core...

It's a tough sell when NG Master Collection gets you 3 games for $40($20 until November 3rd) and they have the gall to ask you for $70-$90. Paywall weapons and additional content behind DLC they pivoted to next year.

Generic Generic Nier's story also doesn't suck.

Still, looking at the gameplay videos, Platinum Games wasn't the right fit for this game. I was initially hyped, but it looks only alright from what I've seen. No one left can do NG like Itagaki did anymore, so I guess we'll never see a pure action game like NGB again.
Called it from the moment it was announced.
Platinum games is not to be trusted.

Yeah this isn't really a PC franchise, most PC gamers probably didn't even have a controller the last time a main entry released.
Well, every franchise is a PC franchise in waiting if you listen to Steam huffers.

I think $70 is a bit steep for it's length and presentation. I have no doubt the game is fun and pretty good, but I'm waiting for a good sale on this one.

Also it was a mistake to not make Ryu the protagonist.

Could you imagine having a dormant franchise and reviving it and just replacing the main character.

Could it just be that there is simply way too more freaking games than in 2000s, and people simply don't have time to play EVERYTHING at release day nowadays?

And just in the case of Ninja Gaiden, just looking at number of its main subreddit (currently around 62000 members, started in 2012), while praised, and regardless of its overall quality as action franchise, it was never as big as Devil May Cry, and God of War; not sure about Bayonetta.

I googled a bit, and it seems that one other reason for Ninja Gaiden no to be as popular is because of the lack of memes, quotable and memorable moments.

Ryu himself is, while iconic and badass, still kinda boring, and way too stoic for a lot of people - he really needed some personality quirks, and not to be as serious.
You seem to not understand why people enjoyed the OG Ninja Gaiden games by Itagaki.

Not to be that guy, but technically that's what Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox did, if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure Ryu is the son of the main character from the original NG games. Heh.

But screw this game anyway.

I think it would have been like 5k without China. Thanks to that country, we get Day 1 PC ports.
Certainly better than Babylon's fall which was an actual flop.

No, Ryu Hayabusa was the protagonist of the original games too.

They did make the old games (which now include Ragebound) a separate canon from DOA/3D Gaiden in 2008 though.

Definitely waiting for it on sale. Far too much to play at the moment. I'll wait for the $109 price to drop to something far cheaper here in Australia.

Will be sad if it does poorly, enjoying my time greatly with it so far.

Coming from NG3 where neutered moveset options, less weapon types and an annoying addiction to shit QTEs...this game improves significantly back to what I want.

I'd have preferred Ryu as the protagonist, but core of fun for these games is the combat system, and this delivers that well enough.
